either the battery is low or the erom is damaged. doing a flashing would help to fix this.

if you want to upgrade your erom do this(dont mind about the WSoD):

clear the login and password fields, click on start, press "2" and "5" keys(on celphone. and it must be turned off!), connect the usb cable and it will update the erom

I tried to do it on my laptop, no success because my laptop is to week to run that aplication.

FOr those guys stuck with the Please Wait screen I suggest that you plug in the charger and then turn it on.

I'm tryiing this now, as my K800 has gone belly up, and I'm gonna try and install the new firmware.
Have downloaded WotanClient, and followd the instructions...
Switch off phone
Run WotanClient
clear password and login fields
hold 2+5 then connect the cable (computer recognises USB device connected)
release 2+5 keys, and click start on WotanClient
The status box in the client now says...
Connect your phone, pressing "C"
waiting...
phone found.
and nothing else seems to be happening, either on the phone, or on wotanclient.
How long does it normally take to re-install the firmware, and what should happen as it is doing it?

Managed to get it working - didn't realise I had to buy credits from WotanServer - but read through the Guide on their site, and my phone is now working fine again.

this thread is about upgrading erom, not firmware upgrading. though im glad you could have solved your problem.
xs++ v3.1 would have done the job too.

Hope someone can help, I have been trying this for ages!

Next screen says

I then insert the battery, hold down 2 +5 and plug the phone in.
It quickly comes up phone found, before changing screens, and it says:

==FAILED==

How long should it take?
I have plugged an old K750 in and that came up for the firmware upgrade etc, so i know the program is running correctly, I just cant get my K800 to switch on!!

I can keep , holding down 2+5 hearing the beep from my computer, releasing the keys, then pressing start button.
The screen says phone found (I think) and then what I guess is the firmware before quickly (less than half a second) changing to new screen saying:
Define login and password!
==FAILED==
Duration 00:01
I can then unplug the phone , remove battery, reinsert it, hold down keys, press start and the same happens.

Yes, I have downloaded them, I already had them on the computer from when I have updated the firmware for the phone in the past.

My battery was almost full when I started. Don't know how much of it is left after having tried WotanClient about 20 times.
Have been trying WotanClient on XP and Vista, on Acer laptops. Had already installed SEUS and USB Flash Device drivers and rebooted the laptops.
Please help! Thank you people!

i have sort of the same problem... when i plug my w300i without the sim card in to computer and with wotanclient 1.1.2 it recognizes the phone, and i select the settings i want and click start, but It just stays there and doesnt connect to the ftp. i have 2 credits, so it should work already
if anyone can help it would be much appreciated. By the way, Does anyone have the older versions of Wotan that maybe you dont have to pay for? they seem to be working. But with this new version, holding 2 + 5 doesn't work for me. I hold down the C button on my phone and it gets detected.

I followed the steps, I opened up wotan and cleared username and password, held 2 and 5 together plugged it into my desktop computer, clicked start and this is the screen i get for a long long time, it stays there for ever and does not change, tried waiting 30+ and nothing happens.
Anybody tell me my problem please?

Some xtra info regarding "master reset": If you have used the "quick access patch" and do a major reset your fone won't boot up because that patch messes up the main part of the fw. All that's needed is to re-flash the original fw again and bob's ur uncle. If u've never used this patch and you do a major master reset, it's supposed to reload the firmware from scratch, set factory defaults and u'll lose all info that was on the fone. If the fone doesn't boot up at all or red lights blinking, than it can only be a gdfs/erom error, in which case it's serious.

Yes i have tried that, as you can see in the screenshot i provided, but now for some reason when i connect it and hold 2 +5 together and press start while holding it, it says phone detected or something, but nothing happens from then onwards. Whats my problem?

Well if its serious, what can i do to fix it? Can i not use wotan to fix it like everybody has suggested, since some people have had this and fixed it using wotan but wont work for me. And the problem only occured to me before, i was connecting my phone to the USB part via the cable, and it didnt recognize it because it didnt make the sound and didnt show up in my computer, and i click file transfer on the phone when you plug the cable in. And then i unplugged the USB and moved to a different port to see if it worked and all of a sudden my phone turned off.

Ok so i've tried the steps with the wotan client and everything. I have the same problem as the rest of the people here.
It happened when i took my sim card out and then tried to turn it on. It just wouldn't turn on anymore and i was choked because i love this damn phone. K800i i mean.
So i keep trying to turn it on and the infra-red light flashes a few times and thats it. I am at the point where i want to call Sony Ericsson and get them to help me fix this stupid problem. If they can't and i have to pay close to a 100 bucks to get this thing fixed, not worth it imo.
That's a shame because if i can fix it myself, i would and i am trying to. But it just isn't happening for me. It's frustrating.
