Just curious looking at all of the phone designs these days. AFAIK, Motorola first came out with the swivel design. What about the rest of the styles? I have an idea/impression of which manufacturers started which styles but I open this up for discussion as I may be wrong and it might be interesting

first to have a flip and is touchscreen was SE R380
http://www.gsmarena.com/ericsson_r380-195.php

The old Motorola analogue phones used to have a flip about 5 years before the R380.

Thanks for the link, that kinda sums everything up. I did think Nokia 7650 was the first slider- well I was wrong, that's why I was quite reserved on sharing my thoughts in the first place. Excellent article

Though I think the 7650 was the first phone to have an integrated camera!

Well, actually Ericsson was the first to come out with the idea of attachable mobile imaging through MCA-10 which was compatible with models as early as R320 and R520m and later with T20e, T29, T39m.

Yeah, Motorola did have a good head start in the business and had ample time to explore various designs and styles, rightly becoming leaders in this respect. And kudos to Siemens who seemed to be the only manufacturer to get ahead of Moto and break the monopoly. Just wondering if there are anymore room for new form factors to emerge. I just can't see it though

i would say that siemens, motorola, and ericsson are the 3 most innovate brands.

Ericsson's HPM-10 MP3 player started having the MultiMedia card (MMC) slot first AFAIK, but HPM-10 is an attachment, not onboard slot.

I disagree, I actually took a lot of memorable and printable photos with my 1.3mp S700i which IMHO is still the best 1.3mp phone to this day
