Hi matey thanks for an indirect response to my post nice text shots but where is the 100% crop? can you post it matey?

@kelace:

Check out this shot I took a few months back:

Very similar isn't it. (Was taken with default camdriver 2.2 - thats why it blurred so much)

Posted by kelace
@ charge

Well allmost an identical photo

And that picture is blurred as the focus has not been set ..... not due to the stock cam driver .... See this picture ....

It was taken with the stock cam driver in my k550i ... I think its a very good one ...

I think for 550i stock driver is not that bad as we think ....

Posted by kelace
one more photo taken with k550i stock driver .....

This is the best best that I have taken so far with a mobile camera .....

I think k550i camera module is superb for taking macro shots ..... it does better than my sony's 6mega pixel digicam s600 !!!

Posted by kelace
another one with the stock driver ............

again macro mode ....

I think the stock cam driver is simply good .........

No S600 stil better than any camphone matey, just look at the pics i've taken with a Sony S40 Digicam, with it's 1:3.8 aperture rating it's no wonder why K550 takes superb macros! since the smaller the aperture the depth of field is shallower.

Thanx 4 that info ..... What I meant was the case of only extreme close ups mate ........ In all other modes , S600 excells ......

But I think K550i has a 1:3:2 aperature .... not 1:3:8

Thanks for correction matey

AFAIK just like S40, S600 has no dedicated macro mode, but instead it uses Autofocus's closest range limit to make close-up pictures that's why it looses to k550 in extreme macro just imagine if SE could use the same CCD and Carl-Zeiss on K550 how would that be?

another thing was that the small aperture helps the camera to focus even on it's closest range. just imagine samsung cameras that has no autofocus(X820,U100,F300) still manages to make close-up shots well. it's because of the relatively small aperture

Posted by kelace

Well I am waiting 2 see future sony ericsson camera phones come out with a Carl Zeiss branded lens elements ...

N73 excells because of its Carl Zeiss lens !!!!

I can't understand why still no sony ericsson phones AFAIK hasn't got Carl Zeiss lenses while its digital cameras excel with it .....

@Kelace

I think stock cam driver is great too. Can you just pass on the link where I can find them.
Thanks!

add to that a sony CCD sensor of at least 1.2/5" size. no other cam phone can beat that if released

one more of my favourate pics taken with the k550i stock cam driver ....

focus is infinity and picture quality fine

I don't think changing the compression rates has succeeded ....... Why increase the file size if we can't improve the picture clarity in terms of at least noise in the photos ???

3 more photos made with the 2.3 stock camera driver. They are 2 Megapixel macro's.

As someone sad before, the lower compression wil not make qualitative photos only bigger sizes.

A question for Sonarik: Can you modify the gui version of the camera. (the interface)

@ kelace: Not because the stock driver is bad per se. Its just that it doesn't judge exposure properly.. so its more prone to blurring due to my hand shaking...

Check out my photoblog: it has some nice pics...

I don't understand how possible Twilight Landscape (AdvancedMacro™) gonna to used for macro, as in 2.35, Twilight Landscape is only Infinite, macro focus isn't possible to be selected.

- Twilight Landscape (AdvancedMacro™): a mode of shooting from distance 5cm. Manual focus, is it possible to change.

Posted by soheilsh
hi irontech
plesae select Twilight Landscape and test camera in 5 cm
this active super macro

Posted by fisherman10
i still dont understand. how to use manual focus. and as said by irontech, how to activate it. twilight landscape is set to infinity focus so how to use it.
thx

Posted by Raiderski
fisherman10
scenes can be reprogrammed and in this case focus not at infinity but at closest possible distance is used

Posted by irontech
Hi SonarikK510 , soheilsh, fisherman10

Once I press the snap button, it will snap the object automatically without focus, ya, its 5cm distance.

Or..Im noob on this part??

(Ya, there is only infinite inside Twilight Landscape.)

Another issue, I'm not sure is that only mine W610i or what, Twilight Landscape is much darker than any other scenes. (The very similar issue from previous 2.34 driver, but 2.34 was most of the scenes darker)

although 5 cm from the object looks clear but wad about nearer or slightly further??
i think the normal macro in auto mode works even better

I am previous verry satisfaid user of K500i.So far,i am disapointed with "cam" on my new K550.I shot about 65 pics (in past week).Only one of theese satisfaied my expectations .This is the one .All others 64 is "crappy".Anyway, with K500,i made soo good pics!

At last,is it K550 verry bad or i still have not needed knowledge/expirience to hadnling proper ???

What you would to see in 2.36?

You want Night VR or i can set SVR in this mode?

Posted by zungi
I want a night mode for VR with low FPS but high quality frames. Good work for your 2.35 !

Posted by SonarikK510
Night VR with low fps - min 5fps or more?

Posted by zungi
I think that 5 FPS minimum is a good value. Is the result will be like in night mode of photo mode (with automatical FPS) ?

Posted by SonarikK510
min 5 fps and ISO, mmm..... maybe more than 250?

Posted by zungi
I don't have idea of the best ISO but I want to have clear and bright frames. I am not a expert like you !

tiny flower (size about mini USB port) powered by MHQ 2.5 cam driver , distance about 4cm, Auto with Macro.

@ sonarik Can you please check the 'best nightmode' setting from the 2.53/2.54 drivers? it still takes the best night pics in my opinion. Also, will a higher ISO with a faster shutter speed or a lower ISO with a slower shutter speed take pics with less noise? or i am confusing these things?? is it possible to make a manual shutter speed? sorry for so many questions but im a little confused.

@Flavio I upgraded from a k500i, that phones cam is a piece of crap, how did u take good pics with it?

Posted by zungi
I suggest :

- linear zoom,
- manual exposure time,
- more choice for manual ISO (start the ISO at -2EV for ISO100 and finish at +2EV for ISO1000, with auto ISO at +0.0EV),
- a real night mode for VR

for the MHQ 2.36. Is it possible ?

@zungi

ISO 1000 isn't possible because max iso in this phone is 640.

btw sonarrik i improve , your MHQ 2.35 camdriver a little,

changes: in auto and night portrait set up iso 100, better quality takes photos (my opinion) , and i improve "sport" mode.

check this and test it

Check your resolution...also - it's true that original driver it's better than modified one. Let's think about this: Who is smarter? A SE Crew or a clever guy?

The modded drivers are better, the SE drivers never push the phone to its potential (look at video as an example) im not sure why the pic is blurry, try it with AF on maybe, im not sure.

Hi guys I have been testing all the various drivers for k550i such as from chriss, number1 and sonaraikk ....

heres my conculsion ...........

For close-ups and macro shots ... the modded drivers are great
But for landscape modes or group shots which require infinite focus .... orginal stock driver is the best .....

So modders take this into account .....

And who is gonna take close-ups always ?????

What all want is either group pics or long range pics .....

Once and For All i am repeating : modded camera drivers cannot physically damage your camera module.

Indeed,Sonarik's work deserves only respect, because its not done for money ,just for all of us.

Maybe the K800 autofocus settings doesn't work well with K550... I see that every modded cam driver has K800 autofocus settings.

Try using default K550 autofocus setting and see if it works well.

Posted by SonarikK510
In 2.36 maybe i use orginal focus settings, no from K800.

In 2.36 VR mode is:

Normal VR: fps 15-20fps, ISO 160, sharp max

Night VR: fps 7.5-15fps, ISO 320, shar max

And linear smooth zoom (but work bad in bad illumination)

How you think about it?
