The 6th November announcement looks like its going ahead but the 15th rumour isn't as strong, however its not unusual for
to have two announcements in the one month.
The fact that the 6th November announcement is
themed increases the likelyhood of Maria appearing then.

WVGA screens shouldn't be too far off now and with Maria's screen looking larger than normal, it would need a higher resolution to look as sharp as some of the smaller QVGA screens.

I wrote quite a long post several pages ago.
Well,its mainly due to widescreen video playing and mobile browsing in landscape mode.Other reason is that phones with big touchscreen like iPhone(though its not widescreen) tend to become very wide(like the iPhone) if they have 4:3 display.If you look at the iPhone,you'll see that there's some spare space above and under the display.In phones with widescreen displays much of that space could be used - and the phone won't become too wide.

People have to understand that the Japanese phones are requested BY THE OPERATORS and are produced EXCLUSIVELY FOR THE OPERATORS.Thats the way to attract more customers in Japan - by unique phones that noone else can offer.There isn't such thing as free(w/o contract) Japan-only phones.(the great phones I mean,which attract the attention of the people outside Japan)

You can even go further. In this picture right after the start of the slideshow
you can see an image of the "PXi". It's right under the "i"-button.
If the slideshow goes on with the next picture you can control it with the buttons that appear on both sides of the picture

I'm pretty sure there is an accelerometer in the phone if it is the flagship device... but then again W960i doesn't have one... Maybe UIQ 4 will support landscape view? I mean if it has to compete with the iPhone, it has to first have a:
1) Beauitful UI (this one is perfect)
2) Landscape function
3) Screen Animations/Transititons

All the mentioned things are present in UIQ 3 honestly. perhaps you wanted a more beautiful UI, a motion sensor based screen orientation and More Animations and Transitions in the menu... SE loves transitions/animations you know
so i'm 100% sure more and more will be offered...

Again, SE and Motorola keeps being low profile. but after seeing the picture above. i become more excited with the new UIQ
This is probably UIQ's answer to S60 touch. i bet there are even more transitions and animations integrated on the UI

Well to be honest, Nokia's S60 touch wasn't anything completely shocking. Their UI transitions were exactly like the iPhones, and button sizes were made for stylus input. Now UIQ 4: looks like it's perfect for finger use and stylus... That's already a pro to the UIQ4.
