Agreed. The touchscreen is just there, it seems, as a secondary input method, as opposed to primary as in the case of the P1i, etc.

Considering the plethora of navigation/shortcut buttons, I think the touchscreen as a way to navigate the phone is downplayed, thus the smaller screen.
Just a hunch.
Also, 'tis odd about the Madonna code name. Though, in the grand scheme, code name doesn't matter so much as the actual devices.
