@Prom1

Chill out, I don't think the others meant it in a bad way. I believe Motorola still have the potential to improve their marketing. Even if they sell their wireless-division, they would still be behind the OEM equipments, so I don't think they would die that easy. US is their strong market, but they just wanted to push for global, so as long as the US market still exists, then Motorola can still breath. They just have to find other strategies to attack the global market.

If it was me, I would throw away the RAZR body. It has been many years since the first RAZR came out, and the hype doesn't really exists in those devices anymore. They should change their plan. Also, I traveled to many countries, but it seems Motorola's advertisements seems to be a bit behind, what I meant is it's just not too attractive. If they fixed these points, may be they would do better.

i dont think so its an analyst projection...it came from motorola itself..

sad news for motorola...Goodbye moto

Yet another mobile phone bankrupcy happened, sad new for Moto lovers.

hehe you MUST be all joking just to believe some analysts projections right?

Motorola is NOT just a cellular phone company ppl.
They make UMTS Base Stations, their building Sprint Wireless' WiMax network solely from scratch and its NOT their first network either. They have several contracts in Asia for UMTS networks & their upkeep. This last qtr does not fully reflect new handhelds like the RAZR2 variants (which in the North America are selling almost as good as the original - God forbid), Motorola Q9h/m/c (which has huge contracts due payment by 4 wireless providers in N.A.), etc.

They're not done yet, but I'm sure if it continues over the next 3 qtrs we'll see possible sale of their wireless division - which has some cash reserves. Remember their working with Google as a manufacturer for the Andriod project.

I'm no Motorola fan; but I'm no idiot either. Remember just 4qtrs ago when it was reported that SE surpased Motorola in total sales for 1QTR? That was short lived when the #'s where double checked by real analysts. So don't be so quick to count Motorola out. Their down but not out, and they have as many faithful fans like us for SE.

you seemed to be overwhelmed with my sentences thus making you seemingly to burst out of all your knowledge to contradict me and please don't put the word out unto my mouth as i did not said anything that emphasizes your "out" definition

as the news said, their main problem is within the software, which raised my impression that this might be caused by Moto's deliberance to utilize too many platforms in their portfolio.

tbh i don't have enormous knowledge with Moto with you so i dont want an argument here, but please i'm no preconcepting here, just reacting based on the facts i have heard and nothing else(no more no less). no preconceptions. i dont know why you are always liking to blast me with a bunch of sentences

They both use UIQ, and moto got some non-TS UIQ phones

it still has nothing to do with

Here is a thread on the matter.

Posted by nneo
motorola had so much potential but due to the bad UI and software and the repetitive use of the same design in all of their handsets it could only appeal to few and it was only a matter of time for them to go down the only way they could resurrect is if they make their handsets small Size-wise and and make their screens better and use a S.E or Nokia software or UI (they could even use s60 in all their devices that would help them
anyway i never liked them

And Samsung uses S60, so does discussion of their portfolio belong in a Nokia thread?

Moto's financial woes has nothing to do with SE.

Back on topic: With metal being used more extensively in SE's 2008 lineup, can we expect any of the phones announced at 3GSM to have metal parts?

@PeterKay

I hope your right...

Sony Ericsson remind me of Arsenal at the moment, they have the potential quality, but its still to shine through! (I am a die hard Gunner though!!)

3GSM, when do you think we will see any new T Series phones (With A200) - not the T280 etc...

High end, like the T650i!

Posted by mobse
I hear you fellow Gunner. Your sentiments are 100% shared here, football and tech-wise.

Cheers!

@mobse

Haha, come on you Gunners!! I know there will be a party pooper who says 'This is not a football forum' but what the hell!

You know, I really feel Jens Lehmann should be back in the regular start up - please Arsene!

And 3GSM needs to bring some new Sony Ericsson models, that will stand up to the N82 in every way possible - not so much like Arsenal though, they already have the talent and tools, its just about Arsene honing them and utilising!

Posted by not_me
doesn't need a competitor for N82 now, more something to compete with N82 successor if something like that exists.
K850i successor is not going to be out until Novemeber this year, if got things right !

I hear what you say but Arsenal are cr@p

are more Man Utd for me, quality all the way

May we all be gentlemanly and/or ladylike and acknowledge the obvious facts that Ferguson an Wenger are two true gentlemen among football strategists leading the two top sides on the isles.

And PK thank you kindly for all tech hints and info.
Hoping for a top of the range to succeed and outshine the legendary W900.

Cheers!

Hey man no worries. I'm not trying to pick on you or pick a fight. And today's recent news confirms Motorola is considering selling their Mobile business. Oh well its good I guess BUT its less competition and thus making it harder to push SE to better things.

Why is nobody loving the newly announced W760i ??

Posted by domipost
I love it. The only bad thing of it is the lack of AF and Wifi

Posted by Maximys
@domipost Phone with AF and Wi-Fi comming soon. Very soon...

Posted by C905
i love the w760. Much better than w910, due to design, features and so on

Posted by patr!ck
@maximus: to which series will it belong? Cybershot - Walkman - etc ?

Will it give in next time a cyberShot with Wlan?

i think he means p5

Posted by Aware
But domipost's original comment was about W760, not P5......

So Maximys, a Walkman with AF/WLAN then, eh?? Interesting......

baybe beibei, it running UIQ 3.2, and has a lens cover, and the rumours said that there will be WLAN

Posted by domipost
But Beibei is much more expensive than W760i

I think it's going to be a verry nice phone though

Mid-range walkman with AF and WLAN would be ideal I think

Posted by SilveR.
dudes.. just hold on.. less than 2 weeks to 3GSM World..

Sounds great WIFI and AF

Posted by xell
Hey Mizzle... From USEB:

To be honest, I believe I have seen what could be one of these (upcoming) phones - very much like W350 with round music keys on the front, but also a nice colour display on the front. Looked exactly like a music player, and was also a clamshell phone.

Details? PN...

Agreed. Considering we already have a Walkman +WLAN +AF = in the W960i; I'd prefer a 3.2MP AF cam phone with WLAN (possible UMA support) in a K850i shell with UIQ3.1/2 Smartphone. Notice no 3G for the rest of us that do not require 3G. Save the 3G+HSDPA+WLAN+GPS for the P5i.

Also, is the Fitness app (from the W580i) portable to the K850i ? I'd love ot use it; when I get my K850i first week of March.

Posted by Mizzle
@Xellar

Black, big music keys on front (roundish, overlapping each other, I believe). Walkman logo at the rounded bottom and a small display centred near the top.

Posted by xell
So... which grade out of 100% can you give this?

Posted by bavlondon2
So whats the latest on BeiBei? Any more specs news? Ive been away for a while haha

Posted by Mizzle
Where the heck did you get this from??????

That's pretty close man

@bav
Beibei has auto focus...

Posted by bavlondon2
AF huh? Nice!!! And it has WIFI too right? I think im pretty made up on my next phone(s). W890 for now and then either BeiBei or P5 towards Q4.

What that Xellar has posted? Is that a new clamshell walkman phone or a PS?

Yup, both AF and wifi.

Posted by xell
It's made with Fireworks MX, actually, but we can refer to it as "Photoshop" as well.

Hi mate i think we should add:

4: Shio - (Cybershot)
5: Lai - (Cybershot)

one of the two codenames were the flagship(imho) camera phone for 2008 and the other one is the china looking C-S shown on the spypic.

SEMC is that "Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications" or you're reffering to mobile congress?

Do you think that maybe SEMC will show a smartphone that is not UIQ

... which makes a lot more sense.

A low end perhaps, since that big high-end day was only for UIQ and Non-os are only the supporting actors

wasn't there a rumour or something said about a windows mobile phone developed by HTC !!

There is a mention of this in the first post actually, but nothing more has been said since. This also came from that news article about SE ordering a lot of WM devices for production this year, although it was denied by the company.

Posted by Detox
Maybe the W750 has got a 3.2 megapixel camera with autofocus and flash. I hope that it isn't a UIQ-phone and that it is a bit orange. Stereo speakers are always excellent.

Posted by Maximys
@Detox W750 - it's codename of W910. W750i - W910i, W758c - W908c.
