Got word that the new Symbian phones from SE already have firmware downloads at EMMA III, but no one seems to have a user/pass for it.
Posted by Mizzle
Indeed, that is correct, but only for admin accounts
Posted by bavlondon2
How it it possible? The phones arnt even announced yet?
Posted by Mizzle
Correct, but they need a place to host the unfinished versions of the firmwares.
Posted by not_me
what is emma 3, is it any different from SEUS ?
Posted by _LAU_
At EMMA it seems like there are two UIQ phones, although both still have prototype names: Beibei and Paris
There has been a lot of talk about Beibei, but no one seems to be talking about Paris. My guess is that Beibei will be launched first, based on the "PreOA" filename. Paris is probably the P5 everybody talks about, as the filename is called "V Test"
Posted by Mizzle
There are more than those two..

Which codenames are you talking about?
Posted by Mizzle
Yes, more than two unannounced UIQ phones at EMMA
Posted by laurenke01
There's still the issue of the unannounced/rumored UIQ Cyber-shot.
Posted by bart
all 2008 introductions have got bluetooth and at least GPRS, lets hope SE keeps it this way and doesn't launch entry level phones.
Posted by ares
LAU, there is more bart, agreed, enough entry level phones already

Beibei will feature an integrated GPS from Texas Instruments, called NaviLink 5.0 NL5350. You can find out more info about it right here!
Key features:
* Single chip using TI's DRP™ technology
* The smallest GPS solution with a board area around 25 mm2
* Lowest total bill-of-materials for a complete GPS system with only 11 external passives required
* Low power with integrated power management
* High GPS performance with weaker satellite signals, exceeding 3GPP and 3GPP2 requirements
* Optimized to interface with TI's 3G chipsets and OMAP™ processors to deliver a complete solution for handset OEMs
By the way, it is optimized to run on OMAP

All this is getting me in the mood for a new SE.
I bought the P1 as soon as it came out last year after 3 month of waiting.
It looks like it's gonna be the same this year.
GPS is very good.
A good camera would be welcomed.
The P1 form factor is great, could do with a slightly bigger screen and flushed like the W960.
Could it happen?
Mizzle?

Makes it sound akin to indigestion.
Seriously, keep them coming. I'm loving every minute of this.

SEMC is well ahead if they've already got OMAP 3 inside real products, 'others' are still playing with wing boards.

Z770i? Maybe a new High-End Clamshell Phone? Very interesting. I hope that...

The index looks promising. May it be the first phone with CIF display?
Posted by Mizzle
I wouldn't think so... If you have a look at the video, you'll see that still frames are incredibly sharp and with good details. The video is recorded in CIF resolutions, and these details are too good for anything below VGA.
Posted by bodeh6
Z770i, lower index then the famous Z800i. Will it have autofocus? No reason why SE shouldn't finally release a flip with autofocus. And the video (CIF, 15FPS), it's like welcome to Nokia S60 circa 2004.
Posted by WhiteEye
Will implement VGA display into Z-series? For what point??
Posted by Mizzle
@WhiteEye
I wasn't talking about the display resolution

UIQ Codenames:
- Paris
- Tyra
- Josephine
- Beibei
Tyra codename in w960i video :

cheers

Could the Z770i be "Irina"?
Hm... but as a successor of the Z800i, the numerical order wouldn't match.
Ok, it was just a thought.
Posted by Angello
hey sunset welcome here on ESATO
could be but i think the name IRINA is a little bit outdated, so i think it will have another codename
cheers
Posted by the-flash
I guess the P5 is either Paris or Josephine?
Will all 4 UIQ phones be announced at MWC?

Yeah especially as Nokia are still using series 2 chips.

Very nice features indeed
@Mizzle
Will it support HSDPA or only 3G?
Posted by Mizzle
@k850 successor
You really want to know....?
EDIT: Better post it here now then HSDPA is featured, and I'm finding traces that suggests that HSUPA could be included as well.

I think Tyra possibly is W968c. Just like Erika in W910 demo video, and then Erika is the code name for W908c.
Cheers.
Posted by the-flash
With Beibei having this many features, how much can P5 improve on it really? More megapixels? UIQ 4? Umm thats about it... right?
Posted by Mizzle
Paris is much better, but Beibei is by no means a bad phone. And yes, it's a Walkman.
Posted by iqtidar
how bout maria? the iphone competitor? what happened to it? beibei is not it right?

@iqtidar:
I don't think Beibei is Maria, 'cause Maria will be a High-End-Smartphone, therefore Beibei (Mid-Range) won't be the competitor to Apple's iPhone.
