Japanese announcements are based on phone operators, which is different from international announcements where it's based on manufacturers. Having said that, Sony Ericsson could be timing themselves with the announcements of the Japanese ones, announcing a bunch of phones at once.

Are there more touchscreen G series phones coming at all? I was hoping to get a G900 but since UIQ is being dropped, I decided against it. If there are more G series with touchscreen to come, they will be S60 right? Xperia is likely to be too expensive so I was hoping for more budget touchscreen phones (smartphones like the G700/G900) from

I was also thinking of getting the G900, but I decided against it not because of what is happening to UIQ, but because I hear about all sorts of bugs and problems the phones have, and I know SE wont do anything to fix them

Just a minor software upgrade to a200.
No major hardware upgrade.
The camera was even downgraded by removing AF.
Disappointing.
I thought there was an upcoming 5mp + wifi + T650 body and keypad handset in the pipeline.
Anyways, still hopeful 2009 will be better for SE.

It's really bugging me that SE is cheaping out of AF on so many phones, most notably the G705. This would've been my next phone if it had that. Taking pics of documents is really helpful for me. (answers for assignments in school =D)

Interesting....just did a search on eBay USA for "sony ericsson P5i" and a screen protector came up in the results. Upon reading the details of the listing, you can see a picture of the screen protector that fits the look/form-factor of the canceled Paris phone.
I don't believe that these vendors are in the habit of creating screen protectors for canceled phones...so does that mean the P5i will be a near-term release from SE...maybe this Hikaru that people are speaking of?

dont compare Iphone and nokia 5800 to the X1 the computing power in X1 is way beyond both phones and with qwert keyboard
but i am not buying it for $800 as i got a psp to watch movies on the move and a k790 for pics and mp3 i rather put in $200 more and get a notebook

Another downside of X1 is the screen which is small 3" which steals the potential of 800x480. But Touch-HDs 3.8" although superb is too big to be pocketable. IMO the sweet spot is 3.2" 640x360 screen of Nokia 5800. I sense that Hikaros screen is as ideal as that! Too bad my patience can't reach 2nd half of 2009

Forget iphone its absolute bullshit in terms of features. I was talking only of the price point of view.
The features of X1 are Very Good except for the camera as mentioned before, which is just mediocre in today's mobile market.

The features are only a bit different between X1 And 5800. For X1, Processer/Ram is better. Screen Resolution is Better and a few other advantages. Honestly, there's no real big Wow factor that beats the 5800 down completely, but still the price difference is 100%!! (5800 will retail for 400$ approx and x1 for 800$).
Tell me, With only a handful of differences, is 800$ worth paying for the phone? It would have been a really awesome phone if it were to be say atmost 500$ but 800 is absolutely ridiculous.
Here in India, the iphone 3g 8gb unlocked version retails for 32000rupees, thats well over 650USD. And that is considered HELLISHLY expensive, especially for those crappy features. Why does it seem like the X1 wants to beat this ugly record??
I was actually thinking about x1 when nokia announced their new touch phone. But after knowing of the first ever xperia device's price, i think i'll definitely pass.
