Wow, xenon flash, That's great!

though i hoped it could have WiFi and GPS as well

Posted by bodeh6
Should have had GPS. All Nokia N/E series coming out have GPS. Sony Ericsson is slowly adding this to phone too, but they need it in more phones. If a mid range phones like the Z750i/a, Z780, and C702 have GPS, then this 5MP shooter should have it too.

what really is important here is that they should integrate WiFi. the lack of GPS on "kate" can be compensated with an HGE-100 headset imo. because we have no WiFi accessories for SE.

Kate is the younger twin of Clara imo.

Maybe it was here before:
No android phones by SE.

Yes I posted it at the top of the previous page. Because of this it is not hard to see why there are rumours that the next Xperia device might also be a WM device.

According to Smape.com it'll appear at the end of the year, which means its possible we'll see it next announcement.

Has SE gone totally berserk??? What's the point of wasting time with useless features. Portable devices for personal use have no need of such features. SE should concentrate more on getting a decent PIM application on its devices.

Well, makbil, every maker makes protos and tests them, that's a positive thing.
Each maker has 10 times more devices in labs than they show.
Anyway, it looks WM will be the winner in this race for a while, at least in profi market. And it's good many makers use this platform (HTC, SE, Samsung, Motorola, LG and many others). That means this is widespreaded platform. With the biggest budget.
There are already so many devices on WM 6.1, the platform has grand capabilities and it's evolving.
But I will regeret UIQ for a long time. Actually, even if they will release something more, it will be hard to reproduce these more open, community based trends which generate sales (Apple case, WM). But who knows.

@makbil

I think this is just Bluetooth evolving and I wouldn't say a huge amount of the company's resources would be pinned on developing this one feature.

Plus, I'm sure many people didn't see the benefits of bluetooth when it was installed on early mobile phones. Now its hard to imagine some devices without it. (Japanese devices not counted of course).

And yet the iphone doesn't really have bluetooth. )))

Posted by Phoner
it also does not really have a modem and a normal camera...

Posted by marty mcfly
Kate looks gorgeous. As long as it doesn't have the ridiculously small screen from the C902, I'd buy it. Well, if I wasn't going to get the the C905 that is

Posted by domipost
Kate is nice, indeed. What bothers me, is that it's still allmost the same as all other SE phones out there. A price of €300 seems rather high, allso

Posted by makbil
@doministry, @goldenface, don't get me wrong, I am not against the technology at all but these two examples are not features suitable for a mobile phone - rather between two mobile phones. There would be other areas of application but I think resources could be better used if diverted to other more important features.
@doministry, I agree with your WM assessment. I've been using an HTC Tytn II for a while now and I was surprised to find myself using it more than my P1. Actually the only things P1 has going for it are the FM radio, battery time and much better handwriting recognition. With the huge number of 3rd party sw available, the WM device becomes much more finger friendly than any UIQ3 device currently available.
I think you should start taking a look at HTC Touch Pro, it's really not that difficult to make the switch. I'm still wishing for SE to surprise us but it becomes less and less likely as time goes by.

@makbil
Yeah, agree. But I will try X1 first
Today I registered at XDA developers

Anybody have any idea if there will be another G9xx? I thought that there was to be a GPS version of the G900 to come.

Popular Japanese phones are beginning to have bluetooth with them now.

Looks like a new Sony Ericsson Audio System is in the pipeline.

This is supposed to be Top Secret.

Specs include:

No name for this yet as it is hush-hush.

Nice, SE make more Bluetooth based speakers

Rumored Sony Ericsson interested in android for future xperia

http://www.mobilewhack.com/ru[....]-in-android-for-future-xperia/

Posted by goldenface
Its amazing how different commentators adopt a different spin on this story. Some are saying Android will replace WM on Xperia. Others are saying we will never see another Xperia WM device.

From what I can gather, Android will not be seen on Xperia devices anytime soon Personally, I would like to see a UIQ Xperia device with plenty of software tweaking to give it some nice smooth menu transition effects.

Posted by djin
Yep, even i think they should but symbian in their next X series, but I am pretty sure, that SE wouldnt waste their R&D on wm for just one phone. So expecting more wm based X phones.

The speaker systems seems to be interesting.

I'm expecting both WM and UIQ. Should we expect only WM Xperia devices from now until the Symbian Foundation devices begin to appear?

Posted by djin
Well, i do expect wm, but i get this feeling that SE might gives us atleast 2 more devices with Uiq, since something's about to stir from their labs.

Posted by Phoner
Something is about to stir from UIQ labs, not labs, it is likely to be made by Motorola...

Posted by sigea

Sigh...I wish someone would get some news on the Hikaru.

There has to be some hope on the horizon to know what to get after the P1i

Posted by king-james
I think Hikaru was cancelled.

Posted by Muhammad-Oli
Hikaru has not been canceled.

Posted by djin
Phoner, if you would read it again, I am sure you wouldnt find any difficulty in understanding that i meant the same.

It's just a concept and i don't think it will become a real phone.

How come it's A1?
I thought only low-end phones are with A1 now.

Posted by Maximys
This phone is just concept and it too similar to T650, so it can't be real phone. Even if this concept becomes real, it will be low-end phone.

www.elgiganten.se but only if you are from Sweden.

Posted by Zuckabaecka
there is nothing! no tests, no reviews, no unboxing and no stores with a w902.

What's going on?

Posted by Phoner
Here you go. A review of W902:

http://translate.google.com/t[....]tml&hl=en&ie=UTF-8&sl=ru&tl=en

Posted by goldenface
The dates given for the release of the phones refer to the shipping dates AFAIK - or the dates they leave the factory and begin to head for the stores in various countries. They will not hit the stores for a short while yet but will be in transit.

Nee, ik heb niet gebeld, maar op de site staat hij bij beschikbare toestellen en typhone is geen site die toestellen daar veel eerder neerzet dan dat ze ook echt verkrijgbaar zijn daar.

No, i didn't call, but the site sais it's available

Sony Ericsson recognises that market conditions have changed very rapidly and action must be taken to ensure that it can remain competitive in the dynamic and fast-paced telecommunications industry. Today the company confirms that it is beginning to implement a plan to align its operations and resources worldwide to meet an increasingly competitive business environment and to help restore its capability for profitable growth. The measures that are being taken by Sony Ericsson are aimed at becoming a faster, more agile and more cost efficient organisation.

At the time of its Q2 2008 financial results announcement on 18 July, Sony Ericsson committed to making cost savings of Euro 300 million over the next twelve months, which includes a total headcount reduction worldwide of around 2,000 people (including both employees and consultants).

Sony Ericsson confirms that today internal announcements were made about which sites and functions would be affected by these headcount reductions. There will now follow a period of consultation between local management, employees/consultants and employee representatives to determine which positions at each of the affected sites will be eliminated.

More information regarding Sony Ericsson’s global alignment plans will be shared at the time of its Q3 2008 financial results on 17 October.

According to this article we shouldn't expect Android phones from till Q32009. So it looks like it could be just WM for any further Xperia devices from now until then, unless they surprise us with something else.

For how long was Walkman v2 around before its successor was announced with W910? Anyone?
