Not for me either, I too would miss A2DP and video recording.

Right, still no word about this supposed announcement and if anything is in store for tomorrow.

Posted by Zuckabaecka
if i would buy such an highend-phone i would take the x1.
Sure....let's wait for the first test but only the specs make it to my favorite.

only the new htc touch hd is also very nice imo.

Looks like the stainless steel, chrome finish and crocodile leather are just three bluetooth watches for women, nothing more.
Thanks for info Mizzle.

very sad, SE dissapointed again...

booooooooooo....

Quite sick of those comments by people who're either too shallow minded or just don't know a thing about the industry. How did SE disappoint again? It's not even official yet for crying out loud! Did they hint that they'd announce something huge? No. Did they hint anything at all? Yes, new offices, and that's it.

The only ones disappointing here are yourselves. You create the hype, you create the disappointment.

You should be appreciative of the info you get rather than boo and whine about every single aspect of it. It can all go in a blink of an eye, you know, and you'll be left just as clueless as you were years ago.

They are yet to do so.

Totally agree with mizzle. There's no reason to be disappointed!

@everyone saying we should not be disappointed

if they just gonna release watches then oh yes there is. other mobile phone manufacturers are releasing some pretty cool devices. and what has sonyericsson released that's cool...........................................? still thinking?
of course they do not have an obligation to us but c'mon! if they read this forum(like people suggest they do), they would know that such stunts(releasing watches) will be met with a lot less that no enthusiasm.
my fingers are crossed that they planning something nice for us. but thing is they have bin crossed for a while - they starting to cramp-up.

To disappoint requires that you create an expectancy or at the very least, an anticipation of something. SE has not created any of that, at least not right now. If they were to say.."The best phone EVER is coming tomorrow.." and then they release a low-end phone. Sure, be disappointed. But SE did not make any promises. They did not create any hype. Readers here, speculated and created their own fantasy of what is to come and the fact that SE did not deliver on their dream, they become disappointed. That's a shame.

SE has made many mistakes, but they acknowledge it and are openly trying to make things right. I for one have faith that there are good things to come.

Actually those watches aren't bad looking for woman's watches. I for one was not disappointed, because we were told about a week ago that there were no phones to be announced and that it wasn't going to be anything special.

How can you be disappointed when you know the exact kind of thing that's going to be coming? Ridiculous.

Posted by bodeh6
I am not disappointed, but just wish SE would announce some new phones soon.

Posted by razec
No reason to be disappoint with me as well, the fact that X1 is just as fast as what was pictured on the first video commercial is enough to me - i'm impressed with the developments on the overall UI speed

Posted by jayce
I understand what people are saying and it's true, we build up the hype around here so much that we line ourselves up for disappointment.
Sometimes the feelings get a little heated, especially when we see leaked photos or snippets of information from insiders.

Sometimes people just want to believe and when they've had so much anticipation and hope since the beginning of the year, then they're allowed to be disheartened and a little angry at what they and others see as lack of progress in the area they are interested in.
The tension builds as the last few months of the year come zooming towards us, which probably leads to heightened anticipation ... and higher disappointment.

Meanwhile we continue to wait .. and wait ... and wait ...

will aim for high-end in the future. http://www.guardian.co.uk/business/feedarticle/7821421

Glad to hear it, they do need to bulk out their top-end somewhat.

Posted by Muhammad-Oli
This is great news! Can't get my hopes up too high yet.

Posted by CrazyGuns
windows mobile basically sucks when it comes to convenient text messaging and fast tasks. It would also be absolutely opposite to se's ease of use interfaces or the uiq interface..while the whole design and features were great for x1, imo xperia with win mo was a bad idea. there've been many rumors about uiq based xperia phones and stuff so waitin for that!!!

Posted by Zuckabaecka
wasn't there something about multi-boot?

A thin X1 without qwerty and this UIQ-Touch-Concept would be great.
In the meantime I'm happy with my w902.

Sounds good, but I don't believe anything till I see it...

I hope SE releases a nice phone before april 2009, otherwise, i'll go with X1

100% agreed....
in my opinion...a full touch screen device is only good for show offs.... not every day heavy use.
somthing like X1 is perfect.. has the best of both worlds.

Rumours swirling around the SE Event in Lund this week are suggesting the next Xperia device - the X2 - will also be a WM device.

source

This might be a result of Sony Ericsson's Chief Technology Architect, Mats Lindoff, confirming that they had been testing Android on some prototypes and admitting that they had no plans to launch devices based on that particular platform anytime soon.

The support of Playnow Arena plus is the only thing that sets this apart from the normal W902.
And it's only available in Sweden.

Posted by Maximys
@xell Yes. It's only W902. But Sony Ericsson think, that it is new phone, and called it 'W902 plus'.

P.S. Yes. W595s has another design, than original W595. But I don't like this copies from Sony Ericsson: G705u, W902 plus. What will be next?

Only a qwerty in candybardesign....i don't like sliders with more than 16mm

I want UIQ!!!

its funny that theres in the rumor thread, no one can be disappointed ... can anyone upload the watches.

why are they wasting resources on watches when they are hurting so bad financially. CORE business is what they should stick to. not accessories.

Posted by patr!ck
omg ... watches =() who needs watches? o_O nobody.

ah. ok. we were all waiting 4 watches ...

and: bla bla bla... 2009 will be SEs year. the same procedure as every year "next year will be fantastic/ huge / ...". I can't hear it anymore. I won't waste my time for Sony Ericsson. I hope I'll get a good phone next year. I don't care if it will be a SE or Samsung, Nokia, LG, HTC, etc.

SE disappointed me in all points.

Good N8!

Codename?

Posted by Angello
very good question ^^

Dont know if this is old news or not but, I fireind of mine was invited to a Company "party" hosted by Ericsson (in Sweden this summer). They began to tell everyone about Ericsson's history up to present. Anyway they also showed future producs. The coolest phone used a laserbeam keyboard and it apparently worked very good. The second thing they showed was that when typing on screen on phone nr1 one everyting was also on screen on phone nr 2.

They said these products would be on market soon

Looks C902 ish.

I'm sure i have read something like this here on Esato...

Posted by darknoob
so Kate is it? and the succescor of K770?
look here:
http://semcblog.com/2008/09/24/meet-the-kate/

Angello,please some confirmation

Posted by Lunion
Thats what i tried to get across with my question... is Kate the codename?

Posted by Angello
confirmed

Posted by Lunion
Front looks alot like the C902.

The lens camera sounds interesting with the Sony T2 digital camera likeness.

Posted by bodeh6
So what is this just a update K850/C902 for the most part?

No GPS, no new features, just updated UI...big deal.

Ahh...Pass no thanks. Next time SE, put a little for innovation in your next product :

SE shouldn't be like Nokia and roll out a million phones that are basically the same but differ in minute ways.

Posted by the-flash
We’re guessing Sony Ericsson will make things official about Kate in October along with a few other mid/high-end products.

http://blog.se-nse.net/2008/0[....]s-new-5-megapixel-kate-leaked/

Hopefully they will have some good things to announce.

Posted by Muhammad-Oli
Hmm... I think Kate looks like a mix of C902 and K770i at the front, which is nice enough but from that picture, I can't say I like the back at all yet. However those pictures are awful as usual, so I'll have to wait and see! Damn you Mr. Blurrycam!
