could You tell me, when it will be anounced? I don't know what to do- buy ARTE or wait something good from SE

Posted by Muhammad-Oli
I get the feeling it's an accessory... Not a phone.

Posted by Maximys
Less than four days for next announcement.

Posted by goldenface
Great news, hope its something good.

What happened to the rumored WiFi accessory and the optical zoom kit? if those rumored acc. were true it might be cool to have one

also is SE planning to release a remake of MXE-60 to be used for A200 phones? this is one of SE's best accessories ever released imo.

Posted by goldenface
The wifi plug-in would be great. Where did that rumour come from? It doesn't sound too difficult to manufacture.

Sounds like it will be a hot item with pimps and drug dealers.
And Paris Hilton.

LMAO

Won't the WWF be on their backs for the Crocodile skin?

They'd better get on with this announcement, and make it snappy.

Sorry

I'm intrigued.

Posted by C905
Sorry if this has been mentioned before. But there is a new Xperia phone yet to be announced this year. It will be a candybar

Link doesn't work for me. Very interesting though. Ta C905.

Yep, it doesn't work for me either.

It works for me though

Have you tried to press the exact link you posted here? Does it work?

I hope aswell
I love X1, the design, functionality etc. but I want a more multimedia-centred phone. I don't need a QWERTY keyboard, and thats why im going to wait for the next xperia phone

Posted by C905
actually, I have.. but it's weird that i'm the only one, who can access the link. It works for Gauravsali aswell in the xperia-thread though

Posted by Dups!
The link you provided on the X1 thread works but I only see an X1 preview.

exactly
In the end of the preview it says something about the new xperia device

Posted by goldenface
Can't find it on Smape either.

Posted by djin
yeah c905, its the smape review which was posted earlier, and i think somewhere in the review the guy mentions about the next Xperia. Thats the one right?

The link works for mE

Posted by the-flash
The link doesn't work for me but I found it by browsing through the site. This is what is says:

It would be logical to design the next PDA in a candy bar form factor in order to cover a larger audience; that’s exactly what is planned for the following XPERIA model, which is to appear by the end of the year. It will finally reach retail stores by the start of the next year, more than a year after the announce of the closest HTC Touch Diamond. Sony Ericsson are doing their best to minimize the time gap between the announces of original HTC products and corresponding ODM developments for SE.

Exactly
That was the most important part of the preview for me
And correct me if I'm wrong:
This quote says that HTC are going to make more phones for SE, or am I missing something?

So does that mean the next Xperia will still e Windows Mobil then? I hope not.

Posted by Tigershark42
Id love to see an SE version of the HTC Touch HD, but with the same design as the X1 (including the D-Pad, and optical touchpad) and then on the back a 5 or 8 MPx cam with a xenon flash (possible due to the candybar formfactor) and the inclusion of an accelerometer. Then it would be perfect. It would be like Hikaru but ever so much more powerful and serious for being a WM device.

By the way, take a look at this interview with someone high up in Microsoft (in 3 parts): http://www.dailymotion.com/swf/k6PMR15jrq6h8tJldt
He talks (eventually) about WMnext, he has it running on a Samsung Blackjack, says that the UI is going to undergo a major upgrade, and hints it should be released some time after Q1 2009, for those interested.

Very interesting. So if the next Xperia device is to be on the shelves early 2009 there is a good chance it will be announced quite soon.

yes.

also android based phone from SE is coming, I think its the one what we saw in JavaOne video. all touch screen (remember they said it'll be announce this year? so It makes sense since the SE's android phone is the second one after HTC Dream)

It will be announced before the end of the year according to smape

Will Xperial remain exclusive to WM? If so, what will Andriod phones be called?

Just hope its better looking then the expected T-mobile G1 Andriod phone.

Posted by Dups!
SE has reiterated that the Xperia brand is not tied to WM so we are likely to see the X series with different OS(s).

SE ought to do just like samsung, because they are using both WM and s60.
I hope SE will use android in the upcoming X-phones

Posted by Dups!
With the rumour that they might be joining Android soon that is possible.

Posted by djin
If Se wants more sucess in smartphone market, then they should go for s60(or s60 touch or UIQ with s60 compatibility), imo.

Posted by bodeh6
Well when Symbian Foundation starts rolling out phones SE will be on that band wagon. So they are going to have 3 smartphone platforms,
1. Windows Mobile
2. Google Android
3. Symbian Foundation

Posted by Tigershark42
IMO the lack of UIQ is a blessing in disguise: it will open their eyes to other OSs which had so far only been competitors causing them to lose money (to other manufacturers). Now they can have offerings for those OS and show a broader and more complete and hopefully comprehensive strength in their portfolio, attracting more consumers. And when Symbian Foundation finally gets here, what they have learnt from working with other OSs will add to the experience, and they will blow the competition away, at very least as far as we are personally concerned. Seems like the rumours are starting to heat up again, and we could be seeing the turn for the better for SE high end buyers.

no he just know that they are exisit
all he know is the name of them nothing more but it was months ago

Posted by Muhammad-Oli
Yeah and really anyone could guess that.

Of course Sony Ericsson have more Xperia phones in development. That goes without saying after they've spent so much on marketing the Xperia brand. And what else would they call the other Xperia devices?

I bet even the X3 is in development (not an X4 though).

Posted by goldenface
I hope a non-WM Xperia device appears soon, I'm looking forward to the UI developments that they may have in store for us.

Hi guys...
Based on this:
Mobifrance: XPERIA X1 is Windows Mobile loaded smartphone. Will all models of this range work with this operating system?

(Original: Xperia X1 embarque Windows Mobile. Est-ce que tous les modèles de cette gamme fonctionneront avec ce système d’exploitation ?)

Pierre Perron: No, Not only Windows Mobile, we work with all operating systems. We even have significant shares in the UIQ platform. However, with Xperia, we will address the users “Experiencers”. These demanding customers which wish all technology and the innovations in their handsets without compromise. The range Xperia will be enriched with other smartphones running Windows Mobile or Symbian or UIQ or others who will complement this range.

I guess there is going to be another OS based Xperia phones besides of the WM and i really hope that it will be this one http://uiq.com/product/showroom/

Posted by Muhammad-Oli
Nice find matey. I guess that's a bit more confirmation that non-WM and maybe UIQ Xperia phones are on their way.

Posted by iqtidar
according to mizzle, that ui is just a concept.. not a single code has been written for it he said...
