Careful on chrome.. there are some special tidbits in the user agreement that'd probably make you think twice.

one thing of note is anything you post, publish, etc through chrome AUTOMATICALLY gives google the right to reproduce it in whatever way they want.

ANother thing of note is that google has the right to automatically send you updates and automatically install whatever they want through chrome.

there are others, but just a word of warning...

EULA has been changed already.. that part has been revised. Its not as scary... so feel free to use.

never feel free to use google software. just because they have changed their eula doesn't mean that they won't do it - who is there to prove otherwise.
google is too powerful, don't take it too easy.

Posted by moogoo
sorry to get everyone off topic. let's get back to the task at hand. looking forward to the 8th. probably won't be any smart phones or big surprises imo.. but hopefully that announcement will come soon.

on a side note.. although the EULA has changed a bit, a quick skim revealed that the portion that gives google rights over what you post to be reproduced for their purposes still exists... section 11.1 OK.. no more off topic

Posted by iqtidar
who cares bout EULA? lets all use firefox...

They should announce their high-end stuff sooner than later, the time it takes to hit the shelves is long anyway. I hope at least one high-ender is announced so that people do not completely lose all faith. Come on , surprise us.

Posted by rizzamarv
I am guessing there will be no surprises, meaning no high-ender announced. So better not get your hopes up!

SE has the w980, X1 and C905 as their high enders for this year. So since there has been absolute zero leaks on anything else I suspect that will be it for this year. Maybe they will announce the next Xperia only after the launch of the X1 so as not to demolish the sales of their top product.

I would personally prefer they kept a low profile (and worked their asses off) until barcelona next year and then did something like with the X1 (surprising really everybody) but this time releasing the handsets shortly after announcement before all other companies come with their high enders for the year..... think that should put SE back on track!

When will be next announcement???

I'm still hoping for a 16gig Walkman to materialise, the one mentioned in the mobiletoday interview.

So it seems we will not see any UiQ smartphone this year? No new Pseries?
If that's a fact, that's a shame.

of course it supports web browsing.. if u watched the promo vid, u can see internet shortcut button on the keypad....

It starts to be really pathetic at the moment. How many more time this maker needs to introduce at least ONE serious smartphone in more than a year? Everybody incl. Samsung, LG, HTC is ahead! Nokia showed the whole Eseries new. And SE, this noble maker is still NOT delivering! Nothing! I slowly loose belief we will see anything really convincing soon.

REMEMBER HECARO?

Hi mate, I posted a comment asking a guy who had tried the G705 whether or not the WiFi can be used for internet browsing as well as UMA, and he said that it can. Of course it can use it's HSDPA/HSUPA connection too.

Nice work mate. I know I would probably have given up halfway through writing all that out!

Posted by marty mcfly
It involved a lot of copying and pasting bookmarks and draft messages. I was doing a similar post last night, got to about 10 SMS pages, and the phone crashed on me!
I forgot the first rule I learnt from Windows. Always save your work half way through!

(^^I have this in drafts too and paste it when using my phone, I hate the WAP version of Esato and always browse the full one with Opera!)

So where is the super highly anticipated new Pseries? Where is Hecaro or whatever? That's what I'm waiting for and don't tell me that SE is doin' things right in this regard! (I talk about time now).
I know what they planned for Paris but failed miserably, now nothing about new P. I have 100% right to ask about it and not jack off about 156th Walkman. It's a discussion forum.

And here you have the exact point!
As much as I don't want to, maybe I will be forced to do it, right? As most makers offer something, at least with HSDPA and some other solutions, I would like to see something from SE, finally!!! As until now we see only X1, in October maybe. You see my point?

Hi,

1st thanks to those that keep this thread going. I don't know very much so try to keep my mouth shut when there are people here who know a lot more than me, so Karma points to you all.

I saw with excitement the news that there may be an X1 without a keyboard this year. My question is that if is 'announced' this year we will await another 6 months to see it in the shops al la X1? At the end of my contract u c and thinking of the Samsung OMNIA. But if this lighter version of the X1 is arriving soon I would wait.

Currently have a P1i, one of the main reasons I got it was the touch screen and handwriting recognition. Just sooo much faster than using a keyboard.
Can't really understand why you would want to add the extra girth of a keyboard when writing on the screen is so much more natural....but I know that is just me and each to their own. That said if you could have a much slimier device would YOU sacrifice the keyboard?

Sorry If my first question has already been answered earlier on but there were over 1000 posts to go through...

Peace and love

Knowing SE the touchscreen device may be released next year, possibly January, assuming of course it is announced this month.

But, seeing that that same touchscreen phone was shown earlier this year it may actually be ready or almost.

Personally, I still prefer a keyboard than an on screen one. I also have a P1 and use the keyboard more than the on screen one.

No, I don't see any point. I see a lot of crying, no points, and especially not yours. It really can't be that difficult to understand - if something doesn't suit you, use something else, which - in your case - shouldn't be so hard, seeing you've got lots of names of manufacturers who are doing a better job. Just leave, you won't see me getting all emotional about it.

Well I am also frustrated because i don't get my new Px....BUT
there is no contract or something that says SE have to bring the newest stuff everytime. It would be nice beacause SE is able to build very nice phones but SE is not in debt. sorry for bad english

This is not crying, but sensible question where is SE in smartphone's race. Maybe hard to handle on this level.

Well, if Se comes up with a good smartphone, with few delays, i will be more happier than they rush out to release an out date phone. I think what Se's doin right now with their smartphones is perfectly fine, ofcourse, if they higher spec it.
