Does the prototype section (the videos) not work properly? 'cuz not everything is fully loading for me...

anyway one more picture to throw into the mix:

Notice the far left picture... the home screen looks somewhat similar to Samsung's widgets... I would prefer the "tabs" system like what we have with the G900... but then more customizations are good too =)

Hehe, those are all UIQ 3.0, and the one on the left is a screenshot of Gdesk.

The first one from the left shows GDesk. Really nice application.

EDIT: Sorry for stupid post. I didn't see Mizzle answered 1st...

C905 is available for pre-order on play.com... £400 though, ouch. I'm putting my order in now.

the videos don't play when clicked as the instructions say. just right click on each individual one and select PLAY and it will load and start.

how many more days we have to wait to know the next announcment date?

Posted by idumbakumar
I think we have noting to talk.
Ok. If the last uiq devices released will we get the variety of softwares? If released Phones with Uiq3.3. Then the count will be 2 or 3. For those phones i don't think we get much softwares! If we don't get much s/w then theres no point in getting O/S on the phone.

Is there any SE equivalent to the LG KF700 or Samsung F480/F700 in the works? And with that I mean: large touchscreen, no UIQ or WM but a touch version of the A-series software platform. I don't understand why SE doesn't jump on that train. I can understand why Nokia doesn't, they are successful in what they're doing. But SE isn't.

I currently own an iPhone, and I love the touch screen. And it's not just me, it's pretty much everyone. All SE has are these unattractive (to the general public I mean) G-series touch screen phones. SE has a far superior UI compared to the Samsung and LG UI's, I'd be interested to see how that would work out in a touch device.

This SE phone could be a winner I think:
- CLEAN design like KF700/F480/F700.
- Minimal screen display resolution of 320x480 (at least higher than iPhone).
- GPS (not necessarily), 3MP AF camera, HSDPA, FM-radio, the usual.
- Capacitive touch screen (VERY important imho)
- Nice, simple UI. Like their A-series, but then for touch devices as I previously stated. No OS like UIQ or WM that requires a more "advanced" user.
- 3.5mm jack. Will never happen, but still.
- Decent music player, perhaps 8GB built in.
- No Walkman/Cybershot-branding. Just name it Touch or whatever they like.

^I don't know what you mean by unattractive G-series phones... that's just probably your opinion because I know many people who own and love the G900, praising it for its simple yet efficient design... a nice all-in-one package.

Thanks Mizzle for the answer btw =) And thanks moogoo for answering my other question XD =P

Read carefully what I say. It's not attractive to the masses. I like its design, but it's not as stylish as the phones I mentioned in my post. It's not that hard to see what I'm trying to point out.

I think that the screenshots above your post show a touch interface that is simplistic like you wanted. Sure its not based on the A platform and it is UIQ, but it definitely looks far easier to use for general users than previous UIQs.

Now that Nokia has announced the NAM N96, N79, and N85, what is SE going to counter with in September? It better be a high end smartphone that works world wide and has great hardware.

Posted by idumbakumar

Yep, the production has stopped.

Posted by Muhammad-Oli
Yeah it has stopped, but that doesn't mean stores don't still sell them! And anyway, its fairly normal for production of phones to stop after around a year. They need to start making the successor!

They ceased manufacturing the K800i later than they way they did with the K850i. I do think that they acknowledge that this didn't go the way it was supposed to or the way they intended.

Can anyone tell me what the use of the switch is on the bottom of this phone? Does it lock the slide?

Posted by xell
Think it's the battery cover lock.

Posted by Angello
yep batterie lock
some new phone colors will be available soon.
I just say: C702, W980, C902...

Posted by xell
Saw some interesting colours for W350 & W380 today. Well, we could get on with the "Oh no, same old paint jobs and nothing new" but eh - who cares.

Posted by Maximys
I saw some colours of W980 and W350.

Posted by goldenface
At the risk of throwing the thread wildly off topic, I'd jump on a white C905.

So a Walkman version of the G705 is likely too? That sounds like fun, its a good looking device.

That hits the point precisely. Having switched to the Nokia E71, I was pleasantly suprised by the amount of software available. Whilst my P800 / P900 always had a good wide range of software available that for the P990 etc is minimal and is unlikely to improve much now as developers give up on UIQ. You'll note that UIQ doesn't have a program of the month for August. The way it's going they'll probably have to switch to program of the year

I like the new G502 colour aswell

Posted by Maximys
So many red colours: G502, W350, W980...

Posted by domipost
I like red

But i agree with Merkie2. Why don't se make an full touch feature phone?? Samsung and especially LG proved they are verry succesfull. The UIQ touch interface on that pic's is nice, but what's against allso making a feature phone with full touch? I can imagine people who don't want an smartphone, cause they are to complicated or expensive.

I had a good look at the JavaOne video today and noticed something strange. At the beginning when the guy is typing, it seems that he has the phone upside down. Its like using the X1 but upside down so he is pressing the screen while he looks at the keypad?!

The reason I say this is because he slides the back section of the phone downwards behind the part that he was pressing! Whats going on with that? Any inside information or is that guy just using it wrong?

You guys have a good look as well, maybe someone like Mizzle can clear this up?

Posted by badassmam
Sorry to post again, no G700 on the UK site. No release over here?

That's what I thought at first then found out that it was just a visual illusion. But what's obvious is that the girl is too pretty of that weirdo guy!

Yes I know. I meant they need to start manufacturing the C905.

And yes I agree that the K850i's faults probably made them stop manufacturing them a bit earlier, but they would have been manufacturing them for a good year or so. They don't start making them the day before they come out!

Does anyone know what colours the networks will be taking on for the C905?
