Thx a lot.
Did you try to see any flash animations?
Sorry if you showed it, I didn't watch it in full yet....

The speed looks adequate, no one should be complaining about that. Put a qwerty keyboard on that and I may be quiet for a year or so

You mean pressing "Yes" when it asks? It just gives an error

Plus it looks 100times better than any other OS.
I still hope they'll release a decent smartphone on UiQ 3.3.
The only thing is - they have a huge drop in income, from the other hand - new device would need a new platform definately....

Hmm, I was asking about opening any flash sites...
Posted by Phoner
In the clip I tried opening www.uiqblog.com which contains Youtube clips. The phone asks whether I want to load flash content, I answer no, because agreeing gives an error.
Posted by moogoo
so even with opera 9.5 you're unable to watch flash content? that's no fun
Posted by Phoner
I think that was known before that Opera 9.5 will not bring flash. There is another Opera 9.5 presentation on Youtube on P1i where it is clearly said

SE must have found a way for optimization to compensate for the slow processor. That's why I'll still get Paris if ever it will be available here in Asia. I'll choose it over X1 or Diamond anytime! And ofcourse Hecaro will have a much better offer.

So, you are satisfied with SMS opening speed?

@Phoner
Comparing it to P990i sms, the speed difference is very big! Videos like that makes me excited about Paris or Hecaro or whatever name it may have.
thanx

How would you compare that to the P1?
It feels really slim and light compared to P1i. Other thing i got used to is the navigational wheel, it is convenient for scrolling but it is hard to press it, so I more scroll with it but press on screen. I am happy that it does not play up like was written somewhere. The navigational wheel moves like in steps (it's easy to feel it) not just scrolls. for single hand use, it is not convenient to press the screen, you have to try pressing the wheel.

It has basically the same functionality, but on BeiBei manual it is "navigation wheel". Maybe because it is now above the keys not on the side of the phone, I do not know..
@siker that article also says that Xperia will be available in September, but from what we know from mobile-review so far, it will not be out before end of November, December.

Well, we actually know that. X2 and X5 anyone?

Wow! The software running on Beibei looks excellent, according to that video. Pretty much exactly what I want it to be. This running on hardware with decent specs (at least G900 specs) would be perfect to last until Symbian Foundation devices become available on the market. I really hope SE dont neglect this...

Well they still called it the JogDial in Japan when they released the SO905i and SO905iCS. Haha all the same thing... =)
Thanks for the video btw =)

For me it's clear that if the Browser asks for Flash content permission,
it is planned for this browser. It's just not included in this beta of Opera 9.5.
Posted by Phoner
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dd847otVvP0 here on 3:50, they are saying that opera 9.5 does not have flash support. But you are right if the phone shows a question for it, they might implement it in future.

Yeah,
they say "in this particular build we don't have a flash player" exactly.
So it may be implemented...

At any rate, thanks very much for the video! Finally a bit of good news! I wish we could have confirmation that a SE UIQ 3.3 device WILL be available in the market soon...
Posted by Phoner
I have found out something more! Opera Mobile 9.5 can't display Youtube and similar clips on my phone (gives an error), but it displays Flash content like flash banners in web pages without any problems!

@ phoner
your UIQ 3.3 looks strange to me which phone and SW do you have?
cheers

like others have said on here...
the video if UIQ 3.3 looks great. I'd be happy with Hecaro having this OS and priced reasonably for its hardware and please, please, have support for US frequencies!
Personally the UI could be a bit more colorful but I guess that'd be a theme setting? I'm not too familiar with UIQ. For example, the icons look a bit archaic in the main menu at least in comparison to A200 series icons.
2 more days to go.. here's hoping!

It's just Theme settings.
I just personally HATE too colourful themes etc. The best is white or grey, as for me.....

Icons will stay the same in all themes, actually I do not find them archaic.
Posted by moogoo
Yea, I didn't think the icons would change even with theme. Is there a way to design your own icons and load them? That would be awesome.
I'm really hoping there is more news of Hecaro soon. I know a lot of people aren't too fond of it due to its use of older hardware, but hey, if the speed of the OS and good, screen resolution is nice and the price is set to a reasonable amount, I would definitely be happy with it. I would not pay the X1's price for it and I think it'd be stupid to price Hecaro at that price anyway.
Let's go HEC-A-ROOOOOOO!! haha.

Is the 22nd the last announcement of the yr?
I mean, most phones to be released for 2008 should be out by september/october. Any announcements should be a month or two before release (or more in the case of SE). Are we expecting another announcement after the 22nd to potentially highlight Hecaro and the next Xperia devices?
Posted by xell
Yeah, I know I said nothing from me until 22nd, but while we're at colours...

I thought we already determined this wouldn't be the last announcement... I find that unbelievable anyway.

That's a G900 in light grey as SE would call it LOL!!!! I mean my 'light brown' G900 looks suspiciously like Black! Whats the cybershot with 7.2mbpx? Is it from the photoshop thread? By the way it's very good who ever did it.

If Beibei is running UIQ 3.3,
must be planning to release devices with this running, it would be a complete waste of time otherwise. Beibei looks like the finished product, it looks good in the video so I would imagine that it will be released.
G900 will look good in silver, but better as a Walkman with black and orange.
