It's basically the same document as http://wap.sonyericsson.com/UAprof/W910iR101.xml to the very last letter. This seems to ultimately clear things up: W750i IS W910i.

Why does that page show NOKIA? :S

err, i'm being a li'l off topic... but why didn't SE release any pics of sharapova with the announcement? why were they available on request only? what could have been a better brand visibility than people downloading those pics?? if that wasn't the case then why did SE sign her up?

Maybe. Becouse, marketing page of W910 include word "W750": http://www.sonyericsson.com/c[....]tal?pgid=key.ProductGroup.W910

Posted by m-one
The W910 was first known as W750i...that's all

Has anyone seen the specs on the Samsung F490?

I think thats a great phone that deserves the SE treatment. I am still waiting for something decent from SE to replace my K790. It would be nice to get a not so smart phone...like that samsung or the iphone (a not so dumb and a not so smart phone). I think there's a market for the in-between(high end phones without a major OS) thats routinely ignored....particularly by SE.

The UI of JP-8 phones (W910 etc) resembles the UI of Nokia S40 (3 softkeys).

Posted by technical-expert
@goldenface

first page needs some editing

P3i will have a great screen and pretty much all features - this will be a direct hit at Nokias N95 8GB and E90.

Those n95s and e90 have sold millions and in noway will it affect or hit Nokia n95 or e90.

Posted by goldenface
The statement is saying it will launch this as a direct hit - meaning it will be targeting the same sector as the Nokia phones mentioned. The same way iPhone is a direct hit at Walkman music phones.

I don't think an edit is needed on this occasion.

Posted by Aware
bronxdude, by forcing us to use the touchscreen permanently(no softkeys), P1 is more PDA than phone - and P-series was originally all about being phone-PDA(i.e: phone FIRST, like Goldenface has explained elsewhere)......

I like how Dick says "This will be the best party of all" regarding the 3GSM announcement

Fantastic news.

Looks like we have something good to look forward to then, and about time too.

Yes, indeed. Couldn't help myself from sending an email to saying thanks for the yet unannounced phones

Posted by not_me
wasn't some announcement supposed to take place today ???

Posted by Mizzle
No I just had a feeling that something could be announced, but it was nothing that should be taken to heart or anything.

Posted by clauf
Anyone know of this?

Trademork has dug a juicy morsel out of the Trademark Office's filing cabinets today, noting that Sony Ericsson filed to get its paws on the term "Xperia" on January 10. The filing reads like a what's-what of pretty much everything a cellphone could possibly be expected to do -- perform satellite navigation, function as a remote control for computers and run "multimedia presentations," to name a few -- which leads to the conclusion that Xperia will likely be used as the model name for some future superphone (the rumored P5i, perhaps?) or as a new series of devices in the same vein as the Walkman and Cyber-shot lines. Personally, we're hoping Xperia stands for "world-band 3G," and looking at the company's recent efforts, we're thinking that's not too much to ask.

aware thanks so much! Now I understand better.

i personally feel that the india announce ment will bring out more phones like the w200i and the k550..
coz peaple here are more into the mid-low end market...and also the SE market in india lacks awareness.....

as yet the w810 and the k750 are the most succesful handsets in india

i predict a replacement of the k750,and a two funky walkmans..

hope they come up with some high end handsets later tho..but the india announcement is not going to pull out many flutters..hope m wrong tho...

Posted by soane28

Posted by cellpassion

interesting! Are they likely to be twin models like S500 and W580?

No idea... the indexing or specs haven't been disclosed yet... probably someone over here might be able to give some insights based on the codenames... Whatsay guys?

On the first page, Goldenface has indexed Lai as a Cybershot phone... No mention of Giali though.

Can't say I have ever heard of 'Giali'.

Posted by vilde
I think you mean Jiali which has these specifications that I've heard:

- radio is being profiled in this device
- clamshell
- bicycle clipon
- channelbuttons on the front
- only gsm/gprs

And I think you mean Lei which is also a low entry device from what I gather

Posted by cellpassion
Quite possible... and i have been told the same - low or mid-end phones...

Posted by goldenface
Then it sounds like they are saving the good stuff for 3GSM in February.

Posted by cellpassion
but of course... r there any pictures of jiali or lei?

prudent tell, that radio-phone is clamshell with channel-buttons on the front. Maybe it's radio-version of W380?

Information from me. Two new phones. Features:
- Radio convenience
- FM and AM radio (!)
- Great and loud sound
- Loudspeaker
- MP3 ringtones
- Need names? I tell you.

@Maximys

To be announced the 27th if I'm not mistaking

The right name is Lai and it will be a Cybershot.

Giali or Jiali is completely unknown to me.

What about:

• Shio (Cybershot)
• Madonna (Walkman)

Provided this info about two months ago. Has anyone a clue on these names?
cellpassion? prudent?

Whats so special about iMode anymore? We have Opera Mini and the built-in SE Netfront browser to browse full HTML sites.

And we have push email on some phones, too.

I think there are two devices with codenames Lei and Lai, but I could be wrong

When it comes to Madonna and Shio, I know for a fact that Madonna is a hero-product. I cant reveal much more, but that one is worth looking out for.

Posted by laurenke01
Hero product?

Wasn't Madonna the W980? Or am I making that up?
