Haven't been many leaks lately, but I like that m-one has given us some tidbits that a UIQ "monster" is coming soon.
m-one wasn't the one introducing the "monster" terminology though. He was just referring to this post:

Well I for me it would be nice if they could step away from the 'branded phone' way of doing things and come up with a device that was 65% music player and 35% phone - let the music take a priority for a change.
A DLNA certified, 16GB, 10mm, 2.4" touch screen monster - oh and by the way it can make calls as well.

Hey guys, GSMArena.com says that an announcement is 'imminent' for Remi - any further news here?
Posted by Tigershark42
Well there has to be another announcement. Hasnt anyone else stopped to think that so far nothing has been announced where SE explicitly say 'this product will be the first to be shipped with the Project Capuchin software preinstalled'. So something with that in it must be coming. If I had to, no question that I'd bet my money on it being the device(s) shown at JavaOne. Which could also turn out to be this 'touchscreen 'monster' ' which people may be referring to. Notice in that video, that someone is using an XMB interface- but by touching it with their fingers on the TV. This implies two things to me- DLNA and a touchscreen. It sounds interesting. 2.4" sounds so poor though compared to the eyecandy in that video.

They did. The C905.

Yea, but not where we see any major differences in the device software. You're right, but that one doesnt hold the implications we are waiting to see for the UI itself.

It doesn't have anything to do with the UI. Project Capuchin is just a tool to ease developers when creating applications.

If this is what you're talking about, then they're wrong. We leaked this one a lot earlier than C905, F305, etc. as to when they were going to be announced.
While Remi's timeframe is still obscure, the pattern of leaks lately suggests official announcement might be rather close.

I want to know about eventual upcoming UiQ/business device, w/qwerty, if there's a close announcement of that kind,
or I should just forget it and get X1, or P1....

Cheers Miz!
Posted by bodeh6
Well Nokia has an announcement on Monday. So maybe the following week SE will have one.......
Posted by doministry
So, no hints yet about my question?
Posted by crossmatched
imo there is a reason why
is mum these days about their high end devices..
could
be planning to surprise us all? (just like when we saw X1 in MWC?)
maybe
is building up a quiet and still atmosphere from which the element of surprise will boom! and explode Posted by domipost
I don't think so, but it would be great!
Posted by doministry
@m-one
So, nothing more you can say on the upcoming UiQ device/devices?
I don't want to switch to WMobile....

You don't really expect a new UIQ device, do you? SE would be stupid to develop one at this stage, knowing that the platform is dead in a year...
Posted by Phoner
We expect. And UIQ is not dead in a year.
Posted by ares
yes, its in 2 years

Developement takes about 1 to 1,5 years
That means they've already a bunch of UIQ devices ready and one of them
will definitely be announced this month
Posted by darknoob
good to see there is an announcement this month, I hope Linda will announce to.
I know its ready to be announced.

HA!
The only question left is if this is going to be WORTH wait for P990/Pseries users....
Anyway, thanks to you m-one for this little hope!
@nettl
I didn't hope for too much since latest news are hard to interpret.
And the leaks are so incomplete.
My info was just opposite to the result.... So I don't know.
But 2 years of break from SE on Symbian? Hard to believe...

It should (at last), it really should...

Let's talk about real.
Posted by ares
in theory, a good UIQ device with decent specs would, together with what Motorola will announce (their supposed "last stand") keep the UIQ ecosystem more or less ok, untill the transition to symbian foundation, that will be pretty much like UIQ2 to UIQ3, or even less difficult (between UIQ2 and UIQ3 there is no aplication compability at all)

I hope it's the Walkman flagship. And if this is the last announcement of the month, it would have to be.

Why would that be?
You hoping for Hecaro?
I guess that would be nice too.
At the very least, we could all stop talking about it if it's announced.
Depending on if/how much it's been upgraded from Paris, I may consider it as an option again.

I look for a "business" device...
Posted by laurenke01
I still wanna know more about the device from the JavaOne conference. I can't decide if that's the W960 successor or maybe another Xperia.
For me, I think Xperia is the brand to watch. The X1 is great, but only about halfway there. I would love to see an Xperia with the X1's specs plus a 5MP camera, DLNA, and, most importantly, TrackID.
ETA: Goldenface, about the first page, did m-one say the 2.4" UIQ to be announced this month was going to be a Walkman?

No, he didn't say that.
Posted by laurenke01
I didn't think so. It was confusing me.
A 2.4" UIQ phone sounds like a new G-series to me, so possibly whatever BeiBei has turned into after it went back for updates.

Do you have idea if it's UIQ 3.3? or just 3.0

uiq 3.3, of course...if it happens

If there are to be no announcements after the next,
would have to announce a P series, the JavaOne device, a whole load of Walkmans, the 16GB Walkman, T610 revamp, G702/G902 and possibly the next Xperia. Hecaro, Linda, Tom, Dick and Harry would have to be announced right? Sounds like a bad ass announcement!

Who or better what is Tom, Dick and Harry? o.O

Now you cracked me up there!
He just means they should announce everything they've got seeing that this may be the last announcement for the year- nothing confirmed yet.
Posted by laurenke01
...Which leads me to believe this can't possibly be the last announcement. But if it is, as mentioned, they would have to announce everything--which wouldn't be bad, since then we'd have a clear-cut view of what's ahead.

There'll be more than the July one.

Can't wait for that announcement! If there's an improved Beibei then there should be an improved Paris too.

...Which is Hecaro, if you'll remember.

i have no high hopes for that announcement...in this editorial, eldar keeps hammering SE management, and i do agree with him...SE right now is managed by incompetent people, and i donīt thing things will improve soon, unless they start sacking some people

Amen to that ares! Some very drastic action needs to be taken. This has become intolerable for many of us who once swore we would never leave SE as they were the best.
