The point is that you cant please everyone. Thats why theres is a range of solutions. And a pretty damn good one at that. But inevitably, there will always be something missing I suppose.

So if Paris gets a new processor is everyone here is going to be happy? Is that all thats needed?

In my opinion, no. Here's something to ponder over: if SE came out with a N95 with touch screen and a keyboard, it would be their flag ship. Well, that's how far behind SE is, they need to work hard to stay in the game.

well, from my experience with this forum and other, even if made that N95 clone, but added touch UI & 8.1 MP camera and Optical zoom and every thing they could suck in that thing, some will say ( no if only it had IR port ), and the other will say ( I hate UIQ, I want OSD ), the next will say ( where's the full qwerty ? ) ad his brother will say ( nope the half qwerty )

so what is the solution ??

I think the only thing can do to satisfy those almighty users is to make a DIY phone that you go to the dealer and said I want this and this and this and this, and that's it...
but believe me even if did that, some will come and say ( why there's no option to have 19'' LCD on the phone ? )

Whatever SE does there will always be whingers...that's life.Even as basic as the g900 is,it handles most of my needs and it comes with a good price.
Although am still looking forward to the next p-series which am sure will not disappoint

Any one mention that there is a new Update for K850 R1FA035
and the Feedback said that the red color is much better than before

All i want to know now is what surprise change will be revealed next week concerning SE, UIQ, and it seems, Motorola.

Posted by famous12
I just want a UIQ phone with GSM 850 and EDGE and Wifi...that is not asking too much...

but unfortunately SE is yet to come up with this answer

Posted by makbil
Sure you can't please everyone but when you come up with a phone like the P910 there's little anyone can complain about. That's the kind of device I expect from SE and I'm pretty sure they can do it only if they get a good project manager to stop the sloppy work.
SE should have one very high end device that would please us and be the prestige product of the brand. It doesn't have to be a sales monster, just the prestige of having that device under the SE brand would more than compensate in terms of publicity.

Posted by ramintop
guys does anyone have any info about that iPhone competitor from SE, with full front touchscreen?

They did--with the G702. But that's been scrapped. However, I fully expect an equivalent device with a different codename to pop up soon, same as Paris-->Hecaro.

True that X1 is all that one can ask for but you also need to see how it actually turns out after its released

X1 = Superphone indeed, all that I want....waiting for ages

X1-> WM. If we go that way I would first look at HTC Touch pro (AKA Raphael).
I'm talking about Symbian devices. X1 with Symbian, now that would be something to take seriously.
Deep down I am still hoping for a P990 form factor though, with flip

I am not very good with technical matters, but would it really be that difficult for SE to use the hardware platform of the X1 and put symbian and then UIQ on it? I mean basically they would only need change the software?!? correct me if a am mistaken.... And then using the same hardware platform maybe without the Qwerty (not everyone needs it, some people prefer slimmer formfactor) with UIQ?

Like I said I am not very good with technicalities

Posted by bider
The only problem with UIQ 3.3 is that it doesn't support resolutions higher than QVGA. If you remember, there was a conference last year when SE has shown UIQ future project. There was a presentation of new WVGA UI. I suppose that WVGA support will be available in UIQ 4...

Note the iphone doesn't use the usual type of touchscreen. It uses heat sensor to detect finger position rather than pressure which make it more sensitive. My point is that our usual touchscreen is not sensitive enough to make multitouch practical.

Well if youre SOOOOO F**king obsessed with specs, surely you cant expect the OS and absolutely everything else to be exactly as you want it. You really must realise that youre not the only one they have to make handsets for, and you can only buy what is offered to you, at the end of the day. So perhaps you should stop dreaming of the perfect handset and be realistic for now.

So, juciy gossip!!! Anyone that can give us some more info regarding the UIQ-SE--Motorola-announcement tomorrow-rumour? Will we be surprised?

Posted by jayce
(In a Harry Enfield way)

Calm down, calm down!

Updated specifications are important, after all have to compete with the likes of Nokia and Apple to produce something that has upto date, nay leading technical abilities and capture some of the wow factor that Apple has.

As numerous people have said, it's felt a while since have a product that was as impressive as the P910 at the time of its launch. It's easy to start having doubts that they'll be able to deliver a cool, UIQ based smartphone but as much as we're hopeful everyone has their limits.

I guess if we lived in ignorance until official announcements turned up we'd be none the wiser but hundreds of rumour postings later we're all just worked up to frustration.

Here's hoping for good news soon.

Posted by Tigershark42
But X1 is insanely high specced. I dont think you people are gonna get what you want for a long time. With UIQ3.3 you will get neither VGA screen nor multitouch, nor a new UI. N you wont get all of the specs you want, just most things, which are supported by UIQ3.3. I personally am prepared to wait for UIQ4, it should be worth it. Else I get the X1 and thats it. That all makes sense so far, but then what of that device shown at Javaone? The only logical explanation for its large screen size is that it runs WM also. So dont get your hopes up too high ppl. Be realistic.

Regarding the announcement tomorrow, what are the chances that Moto and SE will start collaborating on UIQ?

I

Posted by Tigershark42
None, hopefully. Motorola has always seemed so tacky to me...

Posted by Muhammad-Oli
From GSMArena's Motorola ZN5 article:

"[...]All recently leaked Motorola phones seem to use that OS [Linux Montavista 2.6.1] and that makes us wonder what happened to UIQ ones - Motorola used to be highly involved with UIQ technology in the past."

This is just speculation, but maybe Motorola is going to pull out from UIQ?

Posted by ares
@goldenface, i did got an info that the annoucement, whatever it is, will take place tomorow.

However, i would like to get more confirmation from other sources...anyone???

Well Xell is saying its the W580i replacement, so I'd say its very much mid-end.

Posted by darknoob
so I'm not wonder that its form factor is slider

UIQ announcement is indeed tomorow, like my source hinted, eomer just confirmed it at m-r. It will be about UIQ itself and licensees plans, not specific devices

@darknoob, xell, goldenface

Is there any walkman announcement coming? when? next week, next couple of weeks, next month?

Posted by xell
I do not know it for sure, but as there are strong hints next devices will be available in stores in August/September, the announcement has to take place within the next four weeks, I guess.

Any time schedule for tomorrow's big thing?

Posted by ares
no idea...

Posted by WhiteEye
will Linda be S500's successor?

Posted by domipost
Xell said it is W580 successor according to his sources.

Sounds like Motorola may be selling their stake; giving that BGR states the announcement as "surprising".

BGR???

It can go either way IMO
