You could buy it in September the earliest
but when they havent announced the phone, how could they possibly even release it, let alone buying it???

I'm in love with C905, the quality of photos are awesome ( knowing it's a 8mp sensor in a mobile phone ), it's even much much better than K850i !!
I just hope our local dealer Fakhro wont do it's regular crazy expensive price !!

how come X1 (not an imaging device) can record VGA 30 fps and c905 ( a CYBERSHOT/imaging device) can only record QVGA vids?
videos are "moving" pictures. So cybershot phones must also be good at video recording.
DVD like (640x480) 30 fps video was done by nokia 2 years ago.
This 2008, nokia may be bringing true DVD (720x480) video in their mobile phones. hope
will catch up.
i trust
to bring to its loyal fans what is the best (in specs and experience)
we still have 6 months before the year ends. let's just wait and see. (remember there is a rumor about an SE phone with video capture better than the 120 fps-washing machine quality video of viewty
but so far, i like shiho/c905.

hehe yes i remember when peterkay said:
among the 4 protos he has... 1 has a better video recording than the viewty...
waiting to see what it is... hope it will be Paris.

So whats the latest on Paris and BeiBei being cancelled? Personally I think its a good thing. Finally SE are waking up to the fact they need to keep up with times. They C905 looks great but thats the only decent phone they have announced at all really in the last few years. The rest have all been mediocre at best and thats not enough to keep up with Nokia so cancelling them means they are lining up something better then so be it.
Posted by Phoner
No cancellations have been confirmed.
Posted by chombos1
agreed...
i think they may even upgrade the announced unreleased phones (like the X1's RAM)
i still hope that they enable the VGA resolution recording on this phone. (it has all the necessary hardware to do that)!
and yes... if the postponement was for upgrade... then it's a good thing.

Ah well, at least on the brightside they are showing signs of wanting to improve. The question is if UIQ has run its course low enough for them to go back now.
Posted by Phoner
I won't believe it till it really happens. It's simply illogical to cancel them, I think.

Actually its very logical seeing as they are just P1's with a new paint job. They offer nothing new at all to the buyer. There is no way if they released them that they could compete with even Samsung now. They need a re think.

Haven't seen them, but I believe at least Paris has better specs then we are thinking..

SE has to improve NOW! iPhone 3g will be in Europe in July the 11th... and i am a SE fan for a long time (sony phones, t68i, t610, p900, p910, p990, p1), but if i don't see anything NEW (smartphone) i will buy the iPhone!
sorry SE (see you later)!
Posted by apolloa
Well beibei was running the new UIQ which the P1i doesn't. Paris also was RUMOURED to be running the new UIQ and to also be using the new hardware platform, until we knew better about it but it is a slider with a 5 mpx camera? I think Paris looks a little too big though next to the G900. But then again Shiho looked big too until you saw it in peoples hands yesterday.
And go by a crappy iPhone if you want, good luck with the camera, video recording, MMS, buying songs of iTunes, using the keyboard, etc etc.

@Bav
I'm lost, could you clarify?

According to the menu I've seen in S302 & F305, both are running a slightly modified A100 platform.
At least the
icon hints on a Walkman version...
Posted by Maximys
@xell But what about third soft-key? (A2-platform)
Posted by xell
The low-end UI in R300/R306/T303 has by now a third softkey, too.

Rethink of what?
You still write like Paris would really run old hardware/old UiQ/208mHz etc.
You still believe this one stupid rumour.
What is simply bullsh..t and untrue.

If Paris really was running on a new hardware platform do you really think it would be cancelled?
As for people here comparing iphone to the C905 is that really a fair thing to do given that the C905 is an imaging focused phone and iphone is a music, video and web consumption based phone. Those 2 phone are aimed at 2 completley different audiences. In terms of imaging iphone sucks of course but in terms of music, watching videos and surfing iphone 3g wins hands down. So whats your point anyway?

What proof do you have that it is cancelled? Until no proof can be provided, this discussion has no sense imo.

i don't need a phone to take photos!(for that i have several cameras). i need a phone to organize my business life, and i want one from SE (and i insist in this) because i know SE is (for me) the best in smartphones!
iPhone will not be my ideal phone, but until SE decides to launch MY phone i am free to choose what i like!

That's what I am talking about, no proof but people all around whining (and some celebrating) Paris cancellation as if it was a 100% fact.

Eomer is one of the most to be trusted insiders. Did you read his sentence about Beibei and Paris?
Posted by Phoner
Guess I read it, cause I posted it here
Still I do not find that mysterious sentence to be proof enough to jump to such harsh judgments. It's possible he meant it in different way.

Skarven and derivatives are frozen - but you can pretty much guarantee Skarven is dead. So is Paris and BeiBei from SEMC.

I must say that I'm a little disappointed that the new C series is not UIQ/Symbian. I think it's one of the nicest looking phones SE have released, but I just couldn't do away with UIQ

Thats becasue SE cant make any good UIQ devices any more.

Its just another P1 but with a smaller screen. Ok so the cam is slightly updated but even then its the same old hardware and OS. But that should sell well as SE can only sell these "old" phones at cheaper prices now so they should maybe sell more of them.
Posted by Tigershark42
Bav,
Ive gotta disagree with you. Of course there was alot of reason for Paris and Beibei to come out. If they bring UIQ3.3, then they will fill in all the gaps previously found in UIQ devices. They will have full web browsing with Opera 9.5, integrated flash lite 3 in web browser (full web browsing capable, pretty much), as Im led to believe by rumour (also, if you had Opera 9.5, why wouldnt you have integrated flash lite), widgets, WLAN 802.11g, a QWERTY keyboard would remain, and a 5mpx camera would be included with touch focus and a lens cover. Add to that the snazzy new UIQ UI theyre using now, including the better media player, camera UI, X-pict-story etc, a sharp looking hardware design and formfactor, not too large to be bulky. You dont think that would be a winner? I think it would sell like hot cakes once they got the ball rolling. And those are the improvements we have heard about. No mention of what may be a better processor, better screen, so forth. The average consumer will see all it does, see that its compact and looks good, see that its touchscreen, new and modern, and has all the makings of a true smartphone to compete with WM. Everyone whose used to UIQ now would buy one, at least. People would have something better to opt for than N*kias latest N-series handset. It would sell loads. Theres no way anyone can say it doesnt sound high end, and theres no way anyone can say its a good thing for it to be cancelled, because this is exactly what SE needs, and this is the one thing all us fanboys have been complaining about not having for so long.
Posted by bavlondon2
No one knows the facts for sure. Well actually im sure some do but they just cant say. But there is no smoke without fire and its not like Eomer is renown for shit rumors. On the contrary you should take his word as gospel.
Im guessing it must have been old hardware underneath UIQ 3.3 which wasnt allowing it to run to its full potential.

Is there any whisper of a High end 'T Series' handset to replace the ageing T650i?

Guys, got a response from 'my source'
I asked whether the P model(s) have been cancelled?
The only answer i got was "The P series will continue"
No more info has been given to me, no news on whats been cancelled if anything! and no news on when the announcement of the next P will be.
Make of that what you will, but P series lovers - Its not over
Posted by Tigershark42
Thanks very much, PK
Posted by gavster001
its a bit too soon to assume that a particular phone model would be canceled.
IMO, SE wants to settle in the UIQ devices to rival Nokia's N-series device. Currently, SE's UIQ devices are at a disadvantage of having very few softwares available for such a platform. But with more UIQ device on the market - more software developers would be enticed to develop a software for UIQ phones. The "smartphone for the masses" theme for G900/G700 is clearly indicative of such intention. So we could expect a lot more of touch screen phone in the future running on UIQ software, not just the P5 and beibei.
furthermore, millions of dollars are spent by SE in UIQ platform, i don't think they would be so eager to just forget about it.

Thats not really asking if Paris was cancelled though was it?
1 phone and a whole range are 2 different things. If SE discontinue the P range then they would have no UIQ high end phones so of course thats not going to happen. Not yet anyway.

This is something they have never managed to do. Im sure they are capable but I doubt it will ever happen as they dont get funded by operators like in JP so they cant bring out the top notch phones.
