Rest assured the Build quality of the SEMCJ phones is second to none - as you may well know, I use the SO905iCS on DoCoMo here in Japan - and the quality is top notch - the keys are great, the slide is solid and there are no creaks at all - even when pushed hard - the two parts of the phone don't even rock with sliders such as the S500i, which have a fragile feeling - no no, rest assured they are top notch!!
And Bav, not at all to be rude, but a very quick 'Japanese etiquette' lesson -
Be careful referring to the Japanese as 'Jap' or 'Japs' - God knows why, but its considered a racial slur...

I believe it is to do with WW2 because (maybe after Pearl Harbour), the Americans referred to the Japanese negatively as 'Japs'. I guess its still a sensitive topic, just like it may be sensitive for some German people.

Tomorrow only Ax00 devices will be presented. The UIQ line will not show anything new. It seems that the marketing department was not happy about what was supposed to be released to the market. Pity they decided it so late...Now we have to wait until autumn.

That doesn't sound right. So all we have this year from UIQ is the G700/G900 and probably a Motorola Z something? Doubtful. Maybe SE wants the G7/G9 to sell some more before announcing anything newer.

Hmm... No, nobody said anything like that. Especially not anyone with inside knowledge. The only thing thats been mentioned is that Paris and the G702 won't be announced tomorrow and may have been cancelled in one way or another.
There is still half a year to go for new announcements and I'd bet my left arse cheek that there will be a new UIQ phone announced by the end of this year. It doesn't make any sense not to have one.
I must say it is a shame though that SE have no smart-phones to announce in response to Nokia's new E-series phones announced today. Paris's announcement would have ensured plenty of press to overshadow Nokia's efforts. I guess the C905 may do the job anyway...

Oh I doubt it. There's no way that SE is dropping the "W". It stands for Walkman, which is a huge profit maker in name alone. Without the W, they couldn't brand it a Walkman phone (it would seem weird), and they'd lose heaps of sales.

To be honest, I'd say the M series (at least as we knew it) is dead. I know a few members round here bought it and loved it, but overall I don't think it really sold in high numbers, leading to the M610i being cancelled. They probably decided to give up on the whole series at that stage.
I don't know if thats exactly how it happened, but I would expect it is. I see no other explanation. The M610i would have been in development as the M600 came out on the market, so they couldn't have known it wouldn't be a success for a few months. So thats why there are a few M610i prototypes around.
I think that if the G700 doesn't sell (and this appears to be the case), then Beibei (G702) will be cancelled. Just like the M610i.

It would be a shame if Paris was cancelled. I love the G900 but miss the qwerty of my M600. Anyhow don't forget the accessories to be announced tomorrow.
So I'm banking on SE releasing a qwerty clip on keyboard to the G900 that sits over the standard keyboard and plugs in to the fastport at the side. This disables the standard keyboard underneath and activates the qwerty. There are two variants - one with the same keys as M600 and one with individual keys like the P990.
I'm sure it would also offer a 3.5mm headphone jack too
It might also provide slots for different memory cards too e.g. micro sd
It has clips on the bottom and one on the right hand side in the middle that keep it securely fixed to the phone. It snaps in to place. But it is easy to remove too.
The GPS module is also built in to this I think.
It also has pop out feet that act as a stand when the phone is not being used. This way the phone stands up.
