Yeah Shiho does not look so great, the front reminds me of T303 while the back reminds me of the SO905iCS and G502. seems like they were practicing "copy paste" of designs from other SEs. but having seen the designs of the unannounced nokia phones lately(The ugly looking N85, N79, 5800, 6260) shiho looks much better then
Posted by Muhammad-Oli
I think the C905 looks amazing! Especially in black, but the white/silver looks cool and reminds me of the old T100i's materials which I always liked.
And finally I think we have gone one up over the Japanese. Where's their 8MP mobile phone?
Posted by soane28
And SEs reply as to why we dont have phones similar to the Japanese market is:
"Japan are more advanced in technology"
so we get an 8 megapixel camera phone ahead of Japan instead? More specs from Japan please! No more excuses!

i agree. from a designer's point of view, it looks like they didn't put so much thought on the aesthetic aspect of this product. it looks like an homage to the s700 but not so much of SE's design philosophy is evident. the design is very safe and basic.
at least the k850 was provocative. what concerns me the most is the size. it may turn off a lot of potential buyers because of this, given that the c902 kinda sets a new benchmark for cybershots when it comes to compactness. though we all know, it compromises a lot of features. but the thing is, not all buyers are geeks like us.
on the bright side, i'm really digging the back.

Does C905 have LED torch function?
and
WHERE is the speaker???
Posted by laurenke01
The major flaw with the C905, I can see, is the fact that if bought in the US, everyone will be asking the owner, "ZOMG, is that the new Chocolate??!!"
ETA: The other major flaw is that the C905 doesn't have a retractable blade to kill these people quietly.

So now they're trying to sort out the mess with K850's poor design, i do hope they would also fix the mess they've done with K850's misserable camera quality as well as the software itself. if they've done it right(they way they used before with S700 and K750) then i can't see any reason for SE not to dethrone nokia on the camera segment

Excuse me, K850 poor design ?? I would say it has the best back side design of any phone in the market

I think the 8mp is just market hype like the Imobile. Im guessing to get the best results, pics should be taken at 5mp.
And this really is a Japanese concept phone! People wanted it so bad, we get it, and i hear whinning about the size?
some people are never satasfied

the size is great. U can feel it in ur hand. I dont mind if it is a lil thicker. I like big phone. W890 is too thin but it is a solid phone nevertheless

So Paris should have at least 330 MHz CPU! Memory is completely different subject, but I hope we will see more than 128MB.
That processor is much nearer to MOTOROLA UIQ Z-series rather than SE. So still paris loves nexperia 4ever.......

I become a believer in the (Love from the first look) when I saw the black Shiho
Posted by kreacher
I was just going to post that it didn't look good after seeing the white color but the black Shiho posted by Mizzle looks gorgeous.
I fervently hope that the camera's picture quality has improved drastically over the K850 (never mind the mega pixels) and the final version has stable VGA@30fps video recording.

@famous:
well if that's your opinion then fine, but for me the best back design ever implemented on a phone was the one used in K750 and S700, and what i mean about poor design was the fact that it has the most horrendous build quality among all the K-series flagships since K700. and i'm glad that C905's back design was inspired by SO905iCS which really looks unique and Japanese style

C905 looks very good..
100% sure that will be my next phone

IMO specs are not that special. It's a low/mid-end, but with a cool design. Marketed at the youth.

No, because it has been asked a thousand times already. There won't be any optical zoom.
That would make the phone even larger and focusing would be harder.

Personally I don't like the design of Shiho !

i want a UIQ smartphone... i want VGA@30fps video... i want powerful CPU....... i want... Paris??

Mizzle, any more breaking news on Paris? Release date in particular?
Posted by goldenface
Design is reminiscent of the K800i in slider form - the white version is gonna rock big time. Now I'm on the look out for a DLNA Vaio.

i prefer alicia than w980...but until the announcement day, i reserve my thought...and if gaming phone come out with 3 inch screen n above....surely i'll buy it

If this dedicated gaming phone is f series, does that mean it will not get playstation branding? I suppose not, because k series have long had cyber-shot branding. But it would be interesting to find out more about that, because at least its something new and refreshing from SE.
To me, Shiho is just the same thing regurgitated a year later. It looks almost identical to the K800i, but a slider, most of the specs are the same, probably slightly better in various ways (but of course, Id expect that anyway a year on from the K850i). The UI should be far more enticing, because the 2-yr old design surely isnt (from a designers perspective, at least).
IMO they should have given it a design closer to the K850's (extremely attractive compared to shiho) and just dropped the fingerprint magnet problem. Another thing is, I dont know why they dropped the touch-capacitance keys. Ive used them, found them intuitive and fast, everyone I talked to about it (average consumer types) was completely wowed by it, and in some cases thought it was touchscreen.
To apply the same thinking, Id hate Paris if it was just software and spec enrichments, but then looked just like the P990 (or the P1, for that matter, if they are too similar). If you compare the G900 to the W960 they are similar design-wise. And yet the changes are sufficient to make them look different.

It's a low/mid-end gaming phone. That's not going to happen. It's not even QVGA res.

@Tigershark42
agree with you on every point you mentioned. I do think the K850 was/is beautifully designed, better than any of the previous and Cybershot models.

The inclusion of WiFi in a feature phone is great. DLNA - about time too.
I was finding it hard to concentrate in work this morning knowing this phone is about to be announced.
Great stuff!

Surely optical zoom mounted in the rear of a phone is pointless? Optical zoom would be better implemented across the width of the phone 'ala the N93 IMO.

well, that said, Samsung G810 proves it can be done.
What's the spec of the G810 Optical Zoom?
The depth of a thin phone limits the amount of zoom. An 'across the width' optical zoom camera could have room for 15x, 25x maybe even a real zoom lens
Posted by Tigershark42
Well you CAN, but N93 tried it and it never became popular.

The specifications of shiho are exciting but......if we are getting all the great news then wat's the dissapointment about june 17th!!!?

you forgot something, the size of the sensor, in your concept ( the one used in N93 ) the size of the sensor will be very limited, not to mention the Focal length will be very big duo to the limited width of the lenses + the very long space between the lens and the sensor, this will make the view angle of the picture very narrow, I mean if you wanted to take a picture of something close ( like a paper ) you will have to put the camera in more distance that regular in order to have the full paper in the view

The postponement of Paris & Beibei of course.
