Are you getting restarts with R1F...?
I own K810i as well.. No doubt its an excellent phone and i never had any prob with it since Aug 2007., but K850i is superior to that in all ways.
So you're not advised to get K810i if u already own a K850i.

I disabled the vibrating feedback of the touch buttons a while ago and I have yet to have a restart. Before I started having restarts every week or so after updating to r1f, always seemed to happen when i received a text message. Guess I'll keep waiting to see if my phone restarts.

@buntoo no i havent had any restarts at all ever since i got the r1f since july 10th..been 2 weeks now still going well...

Ericsson and Sony owns Sony Ericsson 50/50 ! So yes , LM Ericsson is a part of Sony Ericsson.
Ericsson LM IS Sony Ericsson outside of Japan LOL!
Just because you spelt Ericsson differently, doesn't mean they're not part of Sony ERICSSON lol!!!
Ericsson is a Swedish Company. In Sweden named LM Ericsson. Sony is a Japanese Company. Together they own Sony Ericsson 50/50. Whats Lol with that.

One thing i forgot to ask (as already mentioned by some poster herein this forum) about the new SEUS telling us to backup our important data before starting the update.
I didn't lose anything after updating to R1FA---- from EA037. Even the profile remained the same after being updated.
Then what's that? If they're upgrading only (not flasing) the whole firmware then why SEUS is asking us to backup?
Does it mean that SEUS still won't be able to unBROD if ne1 gets it by bad luck?
Any comments?
Posted by aremaboy
I just reupdated my K850i to R1FA035 via SEUS. I deleted all db folder content so that new updates and files are redownloaded. Still, NO data are missing. They are in tact.
You know the answer. SEUS does NOT reinstall the Main and FS totally. The warning is merely a warning, or it may affect just some models like Symbian UIQ ones.
Posted by iSE
Is there any chance to have a lag-free k850i FW in the future?
I mean by lag-free: smoothness just like the old SE phones. The same sweet feeling when i scrolldown through a list in my k850. all the graceful UI animation... and smoothness... gone...
Posted by buntoo
though K850i has been much improved regarding UI speed but it is still a bit slower than prev.
phones such as K810i/K800i/K750i etc.
But u should keep in mind that its using another platform first time not like the prev phones. So try to forget the A1 OS and learn to live with the new A2 platform.
p.s. Accelerometer sensitivity in Media in the current firmware is the same as in the --EA037.. Its good enough but still can be enhanced especially during 'music playback' it takes a delay of one second or two to change the orientation.

im on the firmware r1ea037 but when i go to update service and search for new firmware r1fa035 it says i already have the latest firmware. why cant my phone update
Posted by Sebby
It'll be because of your operator. If your phone is branded, your operator has to approve the firmware (and customise/ruin the UI), so you won't be able to get it at the same time as the unbranded handsets.
You can always unbrand your phone using something like DaVinci, then you should be able to get the updates straight away in the future.

@ISE
i know exactly what you're talking about in terms of the smooth menu scrolling.....i'm disappointed too that the k850 is so slow and cant provide that animated scrolling like the k800.....lets hope that upcoming firmwares if there is will speed things up.

God help me and with a newest fw

SE Website has officially stated that now SEUS wipes out all data in the phone, meaning that a full flash is implemented. But why my K850 didn't loose anything when I reupdated it yesterday?
I begin thinking the process is under way...one CDA to another. SEUS may be busy uploading all files on the server now.

Yeah it may be the case.

just a quick question... if i ring someone with the k850i and they are on the phone my w810i would tell me that the other person is on the phone and that my call is waiting... does it do this with the k850i or not? im on vodafone if that mankes any difference.
Thanks...

Never seen this feature on the W810 I have or any other SE phone. Does the phone show on the screen that the other person is talking at the moment? Can you post a pic of your w810 with that message?
Posted by daviep
you find it by going to menu, settings, calls, manage calls.i think its just an audible warning that someone else is trying to call you.

Yes i have seen this feature on the K810i that i had before. It displays it in writing on the screen, It's something along the lines of your on call waiting.

Yeah, it does - I'm on voda too.
It'll beep just before it rings and says something like "call waiting at other party" or something.

I just broke the little thing that flips open to let you take your battery, memory card and sim card out...It doesn't flip back any more. Its just loose.

Im on T-mobile uk and my k850i does this, if i ring someone who has call waiting turned on at their end it comes up on my screen "call is waiting at other party" which basically means they are on the phone already!
If they dont have call waiting then only get number busy and engaged tone.

Great news, everyone!
I just launched SEUS 10 minutes ago and I deleted all content in db folder to force SEUS download new files for my K850i, CDA 1201-8437, APAC-ANZ.
It said that my firmware is the latest, R1FA035. It poppped out warning message that all data will be erased. I picked up Continue Anyway, again SEUS reminded me that all data will be deleted. I just chose OK.
Then I checked the db folder. Wonderful! SEUS is downloading two new large files...at the moment it still reaches 50 %..
I hope that SEUS really flashes phone like what SE Service Centre or Davinci or Kulan Kendi does..
Still downloading files now..it's already around 10 MB and another 11 MB..
I believe they are Main File and FS File..
Posted by aremaboy
YES. YES.
Finally SEUS really flashes the whole Main Firmware and File System completely! Excellent! It works like what Davinci, KulanKendi and SE Service Centre do! Flashing the whole firmwares.
For those with BROD, just run SEUS and get the total firmware installment for free!
Posted by buntoo
WOW...! That's wonderful
offtopic but i want to ask can we compare the K850i TFT screen with a SamsungD600 TFT? Which one is better in sharpness and colour production?
Posted by Sirhackalot
I can confirm this information is true SEUS totally fixes brod k850i's
Posted by DanGrover
WOO!
That's amazing. To be honest, with the rumours flying around of Brods on F35, i'm soooo glad to hear this.
Posted by Duran
that'd be a good step by SE
Posted by Adil786uk
Welldone SE!
Posted by aremaboy
All pre-installed content will be uploaded again although you deleted some of them before.
Wonderful.
As a note, SEUS will only flash K850i with correct CDA format and indeed you CAN'T change CDA or debrand via SEUS. You still need KulanKendi or DavinciTeam or TotaLGSM or SEtool to debrand.

what? all the settings are wiped whenever you want to update the firmware?
Why is that good?

It's like when you when to put a new OS on your PC. Its better to have a clean install rather then upgrading (Less chance of problems, in this case BROD).

Well that just means the firmware/OS is badly written!
Would be hella annoying if you had to reformat your PC each time you applied a service pack.

da Vinci are shitting themselves, they've just lost half of their customers
Posted by aremaboy
People still need Davinci or KulanKendi to change CDA or debrand the phones. Besides, Davinci tends to be faster than SEUS. Some people don't mind paying, do they?
Posted by fbloise
I don't mind, do you?
Posted by Killfr3nzy
Lol ? "Well done SE" ?
Its pathetic that SE let their customers wait this long for this option + for not even releasing a BROD-free K850 firmware!
Its good for people who have brod and want to repair it fast while their at home, but damn it SE.

coudnt agree with you more...
I dont know but if
continues to release shit phones i might just make that switch.

How about the apps and games I placed in my phone memory? The last time I placed them in my memory card before reflash, the phone didn't recognize them anymore...

For Java games and applications, whether you save them in M2 or phone memory, they will be totally wiped out. So, beware.
Posted by Sirhackalot
That isnt entirely correct. The java files that are fully installed on the memory stick (games & apps) will remain if the memory stick is removed prior to using SEUS.. simply moving your javafiles from internal memory to external memory will not work because it partially leaves the file on the phone memory. Or even better i placed all my java files in the other folder on the memory card so if anything goes wrong i can install them all over. But as for file son internal memory they will be erased.

No. I just checked for ASIA-LEVAN and its not there yet. maybe we have to wait for some few weeks.

I don't know why they can't make it do a proper backup.
it could easily back up the dictionary, java apps, themes, alarms, shortcuts etc. and then reapply/install on restore without risk of contamination from older firmwares.
Not only for firware upgrades but for if you buy a newer model or get a replacement phone when you've dropped yours in your pint.
But as the restore only seems to want to go on to the same phone and only very basic things like contacts, there's no need for brand loyalty.
I'm sure some places, like japan, people just use the phone as is and get another in a few months.
People here at least tend to keep their phones for years and spend yonks setting them up and customising etc so get rather miffed if they have to set that up all over again, especially if it's because it's something that isn't nessicary.
