Getting lots of reboots now, at first I just had the startup screen freeze but if I leave it, its actually a reboot.
Memory card may play a part , I changed mine over 2 or 3 times yesterday and had reboots each time. It is a sandisk 4Gig.
2 reboots so far today, one on startup and one for no reason.
Had a weird thing yesterday, phone was on silent but started ringing at mid volume, went to reject what I thought was a call but no trace of a number or a missed/answered call.
Ring tone is a full MP3 could it have been the media player ? keypad was locked . Also getting random insert sim or invalid sim messages and I have to take out the battery or im stuck in Demo mode, grrrrrrrrrrrr.
Am rapidly coming to the conclusion that RIF hasnt cured anything.

Nope!!! Have SanDisk Memory Stick Micro 4GB and no reboots at all

Maybe the erom is causing the problem with BROD.

3rd reboot of the day, phone was locked in my pocket when it switched off and came back on with the inactive sim message, have had to switch it off again.

I had no problems so far with my K850i. Flashed via SEUS starting from originally R1CA029:
->R1DA038->EA031->FA035 (latest since 20.06.).
But last saturday: BROD!!
My mobile was on, then after a few hours, it was off. Before the battery was 60%. Tried to switch on: no success. Removed and reinserted battery: no success.
Connected charger, switched on again: BROD!
I have a 4Gb SanDisk micro SD HC card inserted, which has worked fine so far.

Your CDA is invalid. Change your CDA via KulanKendi to 1201-8437 APAC-ANZ to be able to use SEUS for the upcoming firmware updates, if any. The correct CDA format for K850 must be xxxx-xxxx, not xxxxxx/xxx. The latter is for A1 phones.

so in fact they haven't fixed/improved 1 thing in R1FA
If i get BROD i WILL!!! sell it and go nokia/HTC

So basically this software just took the worse part of 037: Brod and also add it this multi-random reboots?
S.E., shame on you!
BTW, I just got a black/green K850! I just missed so much my previous K850 functionalities that I sold my iphone and got a new one.
This one is using R1EA031, no random reboots, no hanging.
Do you guys really recommend the newer firmware?

For this case, because it's a K850i, I recommend:
"If it ain't broke, don't update it!"
There's a reason why this thread is soooo long, more grouses after every new update!
My W890i works ok so far, even though it's also on A200 platform (again, will never update it!), but my friend's new C902 is doing random reboots and random blue strip lights being ON for long periods. Could the next phase of A200 platform be Blue Strip Of Death (BLUSOD)??!!

On R1EA031 i had 1-2 reboots everyday ! After my update to R1FA035 I got 1 (ONE) reboot just after I had updated. After that no reboots at all.
So for me this latest FW is a blessing.

3 weeks and no one problem with 035
Very,very glad
And waiting for a xs++ version with fs access in db3150...
Need turn off the drc on acoustics

BROD overnight on R1FA035 - not remotely happy, promised me I'd NEVER use SEUS again after last time which also BROD'd me... Assumed they'd couldn't screw up again - how dumb of me!
And no alarm made me late for work...
Trying to reflash now on DaVinci but can't find the customized UK R1CA037 I had previously - the other fw's I've had have got BROD within a week...
Whats the best fw to use? Will the customized R1FA035 on DV be any different to the SEUS one..

do you guys think R1F would be the final firmware for k850?...
we have almost 600 pages of replies for this thread....that means we're not satisfied with this firmware.....
the k800 had 300 pages...and its firmware has been updated so many times.....up to r8....hope se willl bring out a stable firmware for k850...cause i still find it slow...esp when i'm going into call logs and shifting right to dialed calls etc.....i'm on R1EA037 btw.

already vodafone has stopped supporting the k850 with newer firmware..R1F is not available to update,so i think its the last firmware for k850...

Do you guys think SE is going to release an acceptable firmware to k850?
Posted by forward
I've been owning the phone for 7 months and I update through SEUS every time and now with the latest 035. So far The newest fw works best and after 3 weeks only 1 reboot a day after update and all I notice is it's much more stable. I'm not always multitasking but overall this phone doesn't disappoint me... seriously

same question. My bro just got a k850i. He wants to debrand it to a newer firmware. The interface is sooo slow at times!
Also, is the dev team (XS++) the only ones working on the ability of adding flash menu themes to the k850i's?

Hehe, funny why its taking the XS++ dev team so long to get theirs out of beta. I'll bet that ALL the A200 platform models emitt issues to flashing during testing that they've probably bricked a few expensive phones, and they're just fed up as we are with the K850i and others that have the BROD/Blue Screen or line of Death.
After 150 pages ago - me defending
and the K850i - I've finally had a reboot issue, yes the new multi-language firmware (from Davinci) R1F035. In the Media app, playing any Mp3/AAC track of your choice, while listening to the HPM-82's (with Silent Mode auto selected when inserted) and try pressing the Call button (not the END) and give it 2seconds ... screen goes blank. You get a quick vibrate and BAM - powered off phone. 1 time it rebooted on its own, the other two incidences it didn't. I have an 8GB M2 as well. I store Themes on the M2 - NEVER had a problem with themes before on Rogers Wireless R1D firmware - and upon powering up the phone after issue above, my personal theme is not set.
Yeah although the W760i & the upcoming W895 (that slim candybar walkman with 5MP AF) REALLY appeal to my lively lifestyle ... I will highly doubt I'll be purchasing another
phone for quite a while - including Xperia X1 - I detest Windows Mobile (all current versions)! This'll take me back to S60 - unless the rumors of SE making an S60 device become true.

I don't think i will not be buying an se phone for a long time, i just think the k850 was a rushed attempt at catching up with the competition, maybe to bide time to develop something else. Maybe to test run a brand new platform.
Whatever it was, I think the K850 is still a good phone, yer i've had one BROD and 10+ restarts, but this is good compared to other nokias i've had. People talk about the bad build quality, compare it to some of the phones with changable covers you've had, then say it was squeaky. You need to have some metal on the exterior to not have a squeaky phone.
The picture quality is not the best, but not bad either, it takes far better pictures than the nokia n82. Yer the auto lens cover is simply a show off piece as it has no fuction or purpose.
I think the k850 was simply a trial that will be the guide of what people want and not want for future SE phones (look at the radical design change between K800 --> K850 --> C902) but also think it was experiment to get their new phones right. THat is why I have full confidence in the c902
The K850 IS NOT A BAD PHONE. It is simply below our usual SE expectations, as I think the vast majority of this thread had k800's which were ground breaking phones. I don't think you should abondon them but simply give them another chance.
Posted by Hobbes911
Harry20Larry, how long have you had your k850i? I'm just curious what span of time you experienced your BROD and +10 resets.
I'm considering getting the k850i but. . .it seems like there are just so many complaints. .. Kinda frightened to make that investment in the phone if there are so many unaddressed issues.
Should I still buy the phone?. . . .

It's a nice design, poorly executed; like they were trying to do it on the cheap.

I'm also planning to get C905. I think that one would be better - it has no ring nor lines around the lens.
I have high hopes on that unit.

lol.
I am not going to buy an SE phone until it is 5-6 months from its date of launch. That way I can make sure I won't run into any funky stuff with the phone and let others report on how good the phone is.
