I still say that Davinci is much easier to use than KK. KK just didn't make sense to me and I didn't bother to try to make sense of it since Davinci is so easy.

Mine had rebooted twice today, after it played music through my stereo bluetooth headset for whole day. But no BROD.

Why should've you flashed via KK and then updated via DAVINCI? Why didn't you flash your K850i directly with R1FA035 via Davinci? That was a lot of money. I believe that Davinci can fix BROD as KK Client.
BTW, KK Client will upload R1FA035 very soon. He has confirmed.
Ah... I thought it's only Kulankendi can fix BROD problem.
Yeah I spent a lot of money then, but I already bought DaVinci credit because I saw KK has no R1FA035 before you gave me an instruction to downgrade via KK.
That's OK, no problem at all.
Now my K850 is doing fine, so far.
Thanks pal.

I been getting reboots "a lot more than before", so I got scared formated my mem... card, master reset, redo the update, master reset and I'm still getting a lot of reboots no BROD yet,
today my phone turned off by itself I though shit BROD but pulled the batt in and out and its ok, so far
this phone killed all the respect I had for SE, I bet this is some asshat thinking that we only need 1 software developer here look all the money I saved.

Hell.
So much BROD paranoia in this thread.

Being the first phone to have the A200 platform, I can confidently say this phone was put on the market as a guinea pig test.
The firmware revisions have made the phone a lot better compared to its release, fixing numerous bugs, but the performance was not what I expected and the memory stick bug still nags me.
I just threw this phone away and am planning to get a K790a sometime soon.

that phone is so media hyped, plus I will never sign a deal in blood with the devil... I mean AT&T
edit:
I rather buy the n95, waste my money for an X1, or wait to see an android based phone which I think is hyped as well "the protos look nice thou"

and How could we believe you considering it won't be available until this Friday? I mean is your word alone so trust worthy that we should listen to it as if it's gospel? WHO knows anything about the new iPhone? NOBODY! Why? BECAUSE IT'S NOT OUT YET! So any speculations regarding its performance are a waste of interweb space...
besides - it's still only 2mp focus-free camera with no flash... Why bother?

i've got 4+ clients gonna get the new iphone. However, if you haven't registered your interest, then i don't think you'll get one for 3+ months cause apple are limiting supllies

Where the interface and eye candy are good on the Iphone, it still is falling short on a couple/few things, 1. here in the states its locked to at&t, 2. no mms capability, 3. the gps does not work well as admitted by apple themselves that the antenna is to small to recieve everywhere,4. the only applications you can put on it are from the "new buy from apple" application they implemented. Not worth the money imo. I would rather spend a bit more for a phone that I can go anywhere with, pop a chip out and use it on ANY service. From what I have seen of the X1, the Iphone has a short run as "The latest and Greatest"But this isnt a thread about the "Iphone". I havent had any real issues with the latest firmware, when the phone starts to freeze so to speak seems to be when the battery gets alil low. I came to this conclusion last night when the phone wasnt responding as quickly as usual and the battery was about 3/4 discharged, plugged it in and then used it, returned to being fairly responsive. I said earlier in this thread and was scoffed at that when as with any "computer" doing to many things at once will cause a reboot if the cpu cant keep up. In some cases this may be the case, in some cases it may not. Gotta remember this phone only came with 40 mb onboard ram i think, and if you allocate more then is reserved for applications and such its gonna puke so to speak. Bluetooth operations use much more resources then add in the media player running phones calls during such things, snapping a picture, the cpu just cant keep up bottom line and it copes by resetting itself or worse scenerio brod. Folks refer to it as firmware, it is basically an operating system.

Added R1FA035 information to the first post - appologies for the lack of response. As some of you may know, I do not own a SE phone at the moment (having only had the K850 for a week), so do not often log into Esato to check for updates.
Thanks to DarrenGF in particular for his PM giving an overview of R1FA035.

Well, for us living in Canada, the iPhone 3G isn't really a choice, due to the crazy plans offered.
I think recently there has been a great petition online and even the government has stepped up to prevent the unfairness of Rogers.

Everybody can make a DaVinci update at home???
I took my K850 to a service -not SonyEricsson service, because I don't know one in my town, or near by. I know that they usually update the phone by updating the whole firmware, not just a part of it like SEUS. I don't know with what kind of client they do it.
So I took my k850 to them to update it to R1FA035, and they done it. But when I took home my phone, I realised that all the settings remained the same like before. I am afraid that they used this time something similar to SEUS. I that possible that with a totally nem firmware to remain the settings the same like before?
Another question: Should I wait for a new firmware to come out ? -or is that possible that this (R1FA035) version is the very last for K850?

What is this about not being able to select files by using the number keypad in file manager?
If I go into file manager and then into the music folder and then press '2' three times, it automatically goes to the first file begining with the letter 'C'. That's how its always been for me and nothing has changed in R1FA035...Is it different for anybody else?

Nope, not here just tried it out on r1f, but i know what ur talking about i had this also on previous firmwares.

it recognises only files... not folders

if i upgrade to R1F fm, will my crashes and reboots be gone forever? even without using KK?
Posted by larry 68
I updated through SEUS and have had no reboots so far, i was having several a day before .
Posted by Terminatorak
R1F is the most stable firmware for K850.
And yes using the letters in file manager only finds files, not folders. But that is not a bug. It has always been like that for me...

My K850i just got from repair (SE service centre) and they've updated the firmware: R1FA035
Posted by br@dley
On 3 Aus. I got all excited this morning when SEUS said there was a software update available and I installed it. After rebooting my phone it still the same old version!? (R1DA039).
Did SE just force a firmware reload with their new version of SUES???
I tried again and it said no update available.
What the?

i got the new r1f today so far so good, hopefully no more reboots

To be able to select a file by pressing the first letter of it in file manager
you have to sort the files by name instead of date, file type or file size.
To do this go to file manager, select more, scroll to sort by & select file name. Now you will be able to skip to a file by selecting the first letter of that file.

Now THAT is good troubleshooting. Good work.

Got two spontaneous reboots with R1F today. First i took a picture - reboot. Then I entered the media section and browsed the taken photos - reboot again.
Today I tried to reformat the whole memory card in case it is bad sectors on it or something that gets the phone to behave this badly. We'll see in a few days if it gets better.
Unbranded Nordic K850 with a 4 Gb SanDisk MicroSD card.

Well, I was very happy back in June to see the new firmware. I've had a BROD with R1EA031, which was when I flashed back to R1CA037. The old one has never rebooted or anything. It's just plain slow, and of course with some bugs in it too.
But since last week, I've had some random and unprovoked reboots in R1FA035. I guessed that these were harmless reboots, but you guys can imagine my disappointment when I overslept due to the fact that my mobile was seemingly dead in the morning, thus not sounding my wake-up alarm. I couldn't bring it to life even with the power button, so I had to remove and reinsert the battery. Still works, all the settings are there, but I don't trust this phone anymore at all. As soon as my subscription period runs out in September, I'll go for not only another operator, but also a C902 instead. Hopefully this one won't have so much problems as the K850i has had. It's sad, because I like the phone besides its attitudes and glitches.
I would not say that the R1FA035 is a BROD firmware, but hanging when randomly rebooting? Come on.. I've got a 2 GB Sandisk MicroSD card, could that have something to do with it? I've tried reformatting it, but it didn't help.

for those of you that have used k800/790...or even s500..or any other newer sony ericsson phones with the new a200 platform...you notice that all these phones have smooth scrolling of the menu...for instance when you are in a settings..and move down one to time/date...and so on...the shifting is very smooth ...i noticed this on k800...and s500.....but my k850 isnt' as smooth..or that slight "animated factor" in it....does anyone notice this?....It seems like the k850 is slower or something....and i thought they are of the same software...anyone know why? perhaps the latest r1f is better?..im on r1ea037 now...

Who knows, why SE complicates constantly CID? Why? Why not to go on meeting user? Patching 3150 impossible because of SE, why not to legalize pay patching?(Excuse me for my english)

The S500 and K800 don't run the A200 software. The K850 was the first handset to use the new platform. The other phones have smoother performance because they have the processing power to run A100 effectively.
Since the K850 has very similar hardware to the K800 (probably a cost-saving measure on chips, similar to situation with the UIQ smartphones) the new platform does not run as well as it should, or indeed as it will when SE upgrade the processing power of their phones (something the C905 will hopefully deliver on).
Using the W890 side-by-side with the K850 there is such a difference in speed from the W890!

My C902 will be here in an hour and a half, had it brought back from Hong Kong, will post up comparisons between the k850i and the newer phone.

So I got bored earlier today and decided to update the firmware on my K850 (Rogers), since I haven't done so since I bought the phone in March. So reading here, the latest firmware is R1FA035.
So using SEUS, I tried to update to R1F, and SEUS said that my current firmware (R1DC001) is the latest and most up-to-date version.
Not only can I not find my firmware on your list, according to the alphabetical release names, I'm pretty far behind in the updates.
Any insight?

I don't know about anyone else but I am getting more reboots on r1fa035 than i ever did on r1ea037, always seems to happen when i get a text message (thankfully it doesn't reboot every time i get a text, but when it does reboot it happens right after i receive a text).
I stopped using the laser precision theme and turned off the vibrating feedback for the touch buttons to see if that helps.

no reboots since firmware update. I'm lucky
Posted by zyonee
Well, I've gone back to my old 512 MB M2 card. Reformatted it in the phone, so I hope that this should cure my reboots. I'm still running R1FA035, but it seems I'm getting reboots as often as once a day now. That's not acceptable in my book.
Anyway, I'm thinking about renewing my subscription and then getting a C902 or maybe a G900 with it. Haven't made up my mind yet.
