Ok my Findings on a fresh install of R1FA035 United Kingdom (24 Hours on)
From R1EA031 O2
Pros
The phone starts 2-3 seconds faster
Marble Madness is very different, It reacts so much better
Mp4s are in sync, Ive played many videos and no probs at all
The phone hasnt crashed or rebooted once (Normally this used to happen once a day or so)
Phone it self is general faster (Or is Feels much faster)
New Feature in Media (Update)
Battery Life is better
The phone was fully charged this morning, Ive made the following
48mins of calls
75 sms
13 pics
2 mms
21mb of internet, email and rss feeds switching from GPRS to EDGE
1 hour of wap usage
15 mins of marble madness
15 mins of music
And the battery life is still at 72%
Cons
When using File Manager you can no longer select the files by using the first letters of them
The phone is still slow when you are listening to music and texting etc, However this is no way as slow as with R1EA031. Its a vast improvement, but could be still better

Hi darrengf and other O2 K850i owners,
I've just updated my O2 phone to this FW and notice the Java icon when running an app still shows 2 purple boxes instead of the Java icon as it used to on my K810i and K800i
I read that this had been fixed with R1F.
Is this the same for everyone else on O2 branded phones?
Thanks,
Jon

Good Morn.
Jon From what i beleive is that the 2 purple squares are the current Java Icons and i dont beleive that there is any changes in process to change them.
However this may change in future updates.
Hope this helps.

I know you debranded and flashed to R1F a while back. I now assume that you have now reflashed to O2 via SEUS, I was wondering what F/W did you flash to via Davinci to get the CDA back to O2's?
Im still running on the Debrand Firmware as I get everything the same as the o2 firmware, the only things that o2 remove from there firmware are the my friends folder and the play now button. The other thing that the change is how the volume button works. (start up and shutdown logos are also different)
Other than that the o2 is the same as a generic firmware
However to answer your question. I do happen to have another o2 K850i to hand and the firmware that i did use was the Black and Silver version of R1EA031 K850i o2-uk - western europe
(K850i R1EA031 CID52 O2 UK/QUICKSILVERBLACK WESTERN-EUROPE - EN EU CA NL FR GL DE PT ES TR)
*** One thing i can tell you though ***
When you update a Generic K850i on Seus
And when you update a O2 K850i on Seus.
The firmwares are identical. The o2 one does not use any different firmware to the generic branding ones.
The reason for this is that SEUS only updates the main firmware and not the pics, startups and shutdowns logos etc.
I hope this answers you question.
****
Fro those wanting to update you for the other following networks:
T-Mobile - UK:
I can tell you that its still awaiting approval from T-Mobile uk, So the latest version is still R1DA038
3 - UK:
Is still on R1EA037
Vodafone - UK:
Is still R1EA031 (I also beleive on vodafone that they have no plans to release any more firmwares and they are going to stop supporting the phone as well.
Orange - UK
Is still on R1EC001
If you have any more questions then please ask.

@darrengf
Thanks for your synopsis. You say that O2 changes how the volume keys work, is this in R1FA035?
I am running a debranded generic R1FA035 and like how the up/down volumes initiate the Phone Status - is this maintained in O2 R1FA035?
If so I will probably flash back to the O2 BLACK QUICKSILVER just incase it does brick it at some point and I have to send it off to O2.
Posted by Terminatorak
R1FA035 seems to be a good update. Phone seems genrally faster, music seems louder or better quality can't really work it out yet. Mega Bass sounds a bit better to me...Battery life has improved. MP4s are in sync. Even when I turn auto rotate on and I rotate the phone half way through the video it catches up within 2 seconds. And no confirmed BRODs, Good job SE. (at last)
EDIT: @Mrwoll: When you press any of the volume keys on O2s firmware, it asks if you want to turn increasing ring off. If you have increasing ring off already I believe it just alters the ring volume.

@Terminatorak
Thanks for clearing that up. I will stick with my generic FW then as I find the Phone Status very useful
Posted by brayjd
Volume buttons on O2 R1F still change the volume and does not show Phone Status as with previos SE phones
darrengf - Cons
When using File Manager you can no longer select the files by using the first letters of them
Just checked this and my phone and it does allow me to select files by the first letter

Sorry for the late reply.
The volume keys in o2 firmware will never change to show the status.
O2 requested that the volume keys was used for the volume only.
And dont worry if anything happened to your phone.
You would just be able to flash it again, unless you really damage the phone circuit board
@brayjd
Regarding your question
On my R1FA035.
If i press a letter t for themes then nothing happens
So i have to manual move the joypad down.
When im in a folder and want laser precision theme and press l, this does work fine.
sorry should have been more clear.

you cannot select files by using first letters unless it is arranged by name. So first arrange your files by name then type the first letter.

There wont be a firmware coming out for any SE phone to support custom flash menu's and themes.
People are saying XS++ 3.2 will support the new platform (which includes the K850), but it isnt out yet.
What you saw on youtube was done with a SE Tool box, which is quite expensive, best thing you can do is wait for a new, stable version of XS++.

Any idea where I can get the custom flash files for use with SETool box? I have limited access to a box and wouldn't mind trying some flash goodness

Today I had my second reboot happening in the exact same circumstance, that is after recording some video, so I start wondering if this happened to anybody else? Shooting video (doesn't matter for how long), pressing the camera button to stop recording - bam! reboot, and everything you shot - gone?
[rant]
This phone and its software follow no pattern. People are complaining about missing HSDPA option in their menu with R1FA, mine only started showing it AFTER updating to R1FA. I had a few recharges since updating - the first one showed 100% and I was glad that the 99% bug was solved, next couple of times I charged it - 99%. The camera lens cover started to misbehave and doesn't always open. From what I read, this WAS solved in the past. I don't get it. It's like every K850i user has to go trough this ordeal and experience all the s*it SE is throwing at us, no matter what FW version.
I am sooooo sorry I took SE for granted. That will never happen again.
[/rant]
Please look over my first question at the beginning of this post one more time and only reply to that.

no you are just lucky, it's random for all I know and read, my first BROD all I did was plug the phone to charge after 2 months of the same use everyday, " I dont even use it like some people here, I just use the phone 30 mins a day for a phone call"
all I did was plug the charger, lucky me

why i never havnt any BROD or reboots must depends on 2 things:
€ plain luck
or more likely
€ im allways using EMMA(dpy-flashing) when i uppdating my firmwares
ps. i easily gonna keep R1EA037 , it just best

Ive been getting a huge amount of reboots and the guy in cpw tried saying it was from using a memory card that was too big, mines 4g
Keeping fingers crossed that RIF will settle things down, finally got to down load it yesterday, cant see any difference in performance.
Posted by strizlow800
Restarts have nothing to do with memory stick imo. your phone has something wrong with the firmware in my opinion. The 4GB card is not that big for K850's platform A200... It should also support 8GB cards aswell. 4gb and 8gb cards are supported by older DB2020 phones like K800 or 810 and they have the same filesystem. No reason why it's should too big for your phone...

I am getting the same, and I think I had it two versions ago. I think it might be related to over-agressive power management and the cover sometimes being a little stuck. If the cover doesn't open, all I need to do is to connect my k850 to a charger or to a usb port and try to open the camera cover while connected. It has fixed the issue every time until now, and usually the cover will work perfectly for some time before getting stuck again. My only problem is if this happens away from a pc or a charger...

If mwarner can't follow this thread we need a new official firmware thread...

K850 platform should have support to up 32 GB memory cards. Only if they are bigger.. should be a problem.
@ sblantipodi
Its weird that mwarner not updated the first post like he did with other f/w releases.

Huh? Of course it's possible to use flash menus and themes on any K850 firmware... and you forgot to mention Davinci for flashing the phone... you can flash any file and the price is 10 Euros, which is about $16. Not tooooo expensive, if you ask me.

I've had this too. Once i tries to open the camera lence, it would get to the cybershot splash screen, i would hear a quiet wine then black. Restart solved it

I completely think, that the brod firmwares, use some kind of overclocking, to gain speed.
Some phones tolerate overclocking better than others.
My phone broded in stand by, I dont change or use anything, so a file that was fine, gets corruptly randomly.

@jbbrs & harry20larry
The funny thing is that the previous FW (R1DA) didn't have this problem, only the R1CA029 (first release) had it and it was solved.
Unlike your phone, jbbrs, mine manages to open the lens cover if I exit back to the stand-by screen and then start the camera again. No plugging or restart needed.
How about the other problem: phone reboot when stopping video recording without saving what you shot? Did anybody else had this?

I just don't know why so many ppl are having issues with this new firmware?! I guess its just the sheer number of ppl that have this phone in europe vs the rest of the world.

Wait...what??? I saw a flash was about $89 USD...but then again, I wanted to customize my main menu by removing the PlayNow icon, and also add the option to select ONLY the 3G network. Do you know if this is indeed cheap, or was my pricing for what I want to do about correct? I don't need to unlock or unbrand, as my phone is already both. I'm just so confused on DaVinci, and I've read that their support is horrible, so I'm very hesitant, but I really would like to get rid of the PlayNow button and also add in the ability to select only 3G (as opposed to 3G AND EDGE) from my phone. It sucks having to connect to a PC and open up MyPhoneExplorer everytime I reboot my phone...

I actually had this problem. If you gently but very firmly press directly around the lens and keep activating and deactivating the camera, it should finally close.

Well.. I'm fed up with this phone.. I've had three of them in the last 6 months and all three broke down eventually. I've owned top of the line phones before and never have I been as disappointed as I am with this shiny little brick.
The camera is only good for one thing - shooting photos outside on a sunny day. If you want to shoot indoors, or at night, forget it. I've taken thousands of photos with this phone in all it's different modes and only about 10% of them are even acceptable by low standards for posting on the web. When I go through my iPhoto (which has 14,000 photos in it) the shots I took with my k750i are far superior in color balance, and lighting..
The interface is slow. I don't care what anybody says when you use the Media player it's atrocious how slow it is. Pathetic. My 1st gen iPod is soooo much faster than this phone. Try going through your photos - and it feels unbelievably sluggish.
Don't get me started about the touch sensitive buttons. If Apple can design a proximity sensor to disable their touch screen when the phone is close to your ear, why can't SE (who have been building phones for a decade or more longer) come up with something similar.
Maybe Sony will have a winner with that new 8.1 Megapixel phone.. But I'm dumping my k850i next week. I'm just glad I didn't pay a lot for this phone and recouped any costs by selling the ones that didn't work so well any more.
How can such a sophisticated intelligent company like SonyEricsson come up with such an unbelievably pathetic hunk of shit? I don't know. But getting rid of this phone and telling everyone in my network not to buy this phone is the best thing I can think of to say F*ck you to SE.
I'm glad I'm up for a hardware upgrade coz I'm gonna USE IT!

Updated to R1FA last night and noticed that the touch sensitive keys no longer activate with my face. I think they're using the light sensor to determine weather or not it's on your face.

Mine still work when i totally cover the sensor with my hand...

I think they just lowered the sensitivity of the touchscreen, coz too much current that activates the touchscreen ruins it ( the case of misbehaving softkeys on R1DA). And too much sensitivity also consumes a lot of power which makes the phone slower.

I started having problems with the lens cover not opening after my last o2 update, only had RIF since Saturday so hoping that it's been resolved.
Not had any reboots so far but had a very strange thing happen this morning when I turned on the phone , just as the o2 screen was loading the screen froze and the phone wouldnt do anything and I had to switch it off and on again which took a few seconds and several attempts, was a panic moment, thought it was about to BROD.
As far as the soft keys go, mine still activates when my face touches them.

The camera lens not opening isnt anything to do with the the firmware but the lens it self, It can become stuck.
Regarding the freezing. Ive had it on all my phones.
what i normaly do is that as i eneter my sim card, i wait a further 2 seconds to allow the system to catch up with it self and it then works fine.
If i rush the phone, it can stutter on start up and causes the phone to freeze.
***
I know alot of people on here mention the brod, Im also one of them in my first 2 k850is i had.
I was orginal told it was a java script error on boot up.
The phone is trying to boot up the screen and the script on the memory is corrupt or damaged. (Just lie your home computer software can become)
