Hmm, I just noticed that after the R1F update, my K850 no longer has HSDPA as an option in Connectivity > Mobile Networks > GSM/3G networks. I used to be able to choose between HSDPA/3G/GSM, and now it's just GSM or 3G&GSM

Something simillar happened with the K800, but not with networks... The video thumbinail preview funciont was gone after the R1JG001 firmware...

i have had about 4 random reboots with the R1F firmware, seem to be happening more often now too....
Posted by EARNEST
Found bugs with R1F:
1. While I was downloading heavy game, and after tried to install it, the phone restarted
2. Auto focus SUCKS big time
3. Auto flash SUCKS even more
4. Before I had no problem with listening to my music over bluetooth with my Jabra BT3030, now, time to time, I have disconnections or lost of signal for few seconds
5. Jimm/eBuddy + music = lag if you try to write big message
Posted by Ngelih
same with jaffa
today my phone has 4 restarts....
most of them happened when i didn't touch the phone
very weird
Posted by Killfr3nzy
Weird, my phone is working very stable (finally), no reboots, crashes whatsoever.
Just multitasking isnt smooth and fast enough.

Can someone please explain to me why everyone keeps thinking that this is nearing the end for the k850i firmware??? Wasn't the phone just released last year? Most phones have at least a two year support life...

Most people think this, because (I think..) sony will be focusing on the C-series now the K-series are done.
I'm one of the persons who believe otherwise, im sure SE wont let us, the k850i users down, (almost) all SE phones had a much longer support life, so i dont see why the k850 wouldnt get this too.

Do not use KK.
I think the project is dead.
Luckily I used them for FW R1E, which SEUS upgraded to R1F.
I will test out the bluetooth for this firmware tonight.
As for the flash, the red eye reduction 3-flash is really slow, it will take a snapshot right after the first of three flashes.
But one bug I noticed was transferring a mp3 through BT. During transfer I disconnected my BT headset. When mp3 finished transferring I went to Save in Memory Card > Play, and NO sound. The media had no sound, any music file would not play through the speaker.
A simple restart did the trick.

Hi guys just one question to ask reflashing the firmware on SE update server will it help any minor bug that would have appeared on this firmware that wasnt there before on the 037 .....or reflashing it will copy over the same thing stuff all over again
by the way since r1f had 3 reboots so far but all is well
Posted by calypso1595
I've had one restart, though I don't multitask nearly as much as some other people on here.

One thing I did after frimware update was to copy all files(including hidden) from memory card to computer then format the memory stick, then copy files/folders back onto memory card. Things seem to be abit more responsive and stable.

OK got a voda branded K850i, want to get the voda crap off it, so which firmware do I go for on the devinci site, is it Customized UK green western europe, or the united kingdom, luminous green western europe one. and if I need to can I put it back to voda or would it be better getting an older version and then updating via SEUS. I nhave had 5 reboots today alone, and phone is on R1EA031 at the moment but with heavy voda branding.

Suggestion:
reboot your cel every single day (as said in user manual) and I think not desirable reboots can decrease...
even when the cel reboot itself, turn it off and them reboot it correctly... because if you pay attention, you will notice that when the cel reboot by itself, it doesn't turn off completely, so you should turn it off and then turn it on...
I don't know... I'm trying everything I can...

Is this confirmed?
3 people in Poland have BROD in r1fa035 firmware strange
one of them just insert SIM card from another network - boom BROD
one of them just end the call with his girlfriend
one of them - i don't remeber
all in r1fa035 firmware, and only effects people of Poland
i'm also from Poland and i don't have any reboot
I'm on R1FA035 GENERIC CENT-EUR CDA 1200-5441 - had no BROD so far
but had lots of random reebots (all of them with losing theme) and IMHO this FW behaves very similar to R1E, so I'm expecting BROD all the time...

1200-5441 is not the CDA.
The CDA should be the one above that.
Well, I'm on the 2nd day with R1F. Seems to be stable.

Stop scaring people with your ghosts Polish guys that someone knows from the cousin of another guy who red in a translated babelfish forum from polish to english that they got BROD!!!
IF the R1F has BROD I think this forum with its thousands of users is the best place to see BRODed victims of R1f,but till now no one here can confirm it(for the time being)

can someone please clarify in 10 words or less what a BROD is?

BROD-blue ring of death!
when the phone reboots, the blue led ring around the camera and keyboard leds stay on constantly, locks up,doesnt progress any further to the main menu etc.

Its a beautifull phone, with good specs (camera, walkman 3, and stuff) but the bugs are still there, and im sure they arent planning on leaving any time soon.

It's not beautiful.
Yes, if the phone is new it looks good and the specs on the box look good.
But the tactile feel isn't beautiful, if feels cheap and if you try to use it you realise there's no beauty on the inside with the slow processor and bad firmware.
Use it for more than a month and it gets so tatty that it doesn't even look good.
There's also no beauty in people asking you why you aren't using it, because it has BRODed!

Good speech , but still I think its still beautifull, yes there are some bugs.
I've used my k850 for 6-7 months and not a single scratch whatsoever, still looking good, the processor isnt slow it could run smootlly, , its the firmware.

Same here.
I bought mine in December, and if you rule out reboot that happens when I try to download some Java file from one site, there hasn't been anything wrong with it. I'm very satisfied with that kind of reliability.

For the average consumers, yes, the phone is good on paper and the usage is "okay".
But for the people who bought this phone for the camera, then it is a let down. The flash is not in place, especially with the red eye reduction with the 3 flashes as there is no need for the last 2 if the picture is already taken with the first second or two.
Fluorescent lighting and in dark areas is not even up to par (if I may say, it is disgusting).
I am certain that the majority of the people on this board would agree the camera is great for outdoor usage.
But hey, this is coming from an average user. Expect more from this phone then consider the N95 or any upcoming SE phones.

Yep for all those who are interested.

@darrengf
I know you debranded and flashed to R1F a while back. I now assume that you have now reflashed to O2 via SEUS, I was wondering what F/W did you flash to via Davinci to get the CDA back to O2's?

FINALLY O2 have released it. Thanks to everyone who posted saying O2 have released the new firmware...charging my phone now...

after having about 7 random reboots in the last 48 hrs and my first BROD on June 22 I was so happy
Now Re-flashed using SEUS.
Already seems a little more responsive.
Hopefully I will have fewer reboots.

When I first flashed the phone it went nuts, had about 4 or 5 reboots, took out battery, re-inserted,then did a master reset of all settings, then I formatted memory stick again and havent had an issue with reboots at all.

Well.. I'm fed up with this phone.. I've had three of them in the last 6 months and all three broke down eventually. I've owned top of the line phones before and never have I been as disappointed as I am with this shiny little brick.
The camera is only good for one thing - shooting photos outside on a sunny day. If you want to shoot indoors, or at night, forget it. I've taken thousands of photos with this phone in all it's different modes and only about 10% of them are even acceptable by low standards for posting on the web. When I go through my iPhoto (which has 14,000 photos in it) the shots I took with my k750i are far superior in color balance, and lighting..
The interface is slow. I don't care what anybody says when you use the Media player it's atrocious how slow it is. Pathetic. My 1st gen iPod is soooo much faster than this phone. Try going through your photos - and it feels unbelievably sluggish.
Don't get me started about the touch sensitive buttons. If Apple can design a proximity sensor to disable their touch screen when the phone is close to your ear, why can't SE (who have been building phones for a decade or more longer) come up with something similar.
Maybe Sony will have a winner with that new 8.1 Megapixel phone.. But I'm dumping my k850i next week. I'm just glad I didn't pay a lot for this phone and recouped any costs by selling the ones that didn't work so well any more.
How can such a sophisticated intelligent company like SonyEricsson come up with such an unbelievably pathetic hunk of shit? I don't know. But getting rid of this phone and telling everyone in my network not to buy this phone is the best thing I can think of to say F*ck you to SE.
I'm glad I'm up for a hardware upgrade coz I'm gonna USE IT!

For security reasons, please do not post your IMEI.
People might steal it or clone it or whatever.
