If you want to change CDA in KK Client, DO NOT delete the dash. Just move the cursor to the digit you want to change, but NOT the dash. It will work perfectly!
If you delete the dash, KK Client won't be able to show the dash anymore. It's KK Client bug.
May I ask how do I input the dash onto the CDA change box?
I cannot type it in.
It does not even show my original CDA but CDA102511/2, even after reading info on the phone.
I cannot type in the dash.

Does R1F SEUS new firmware is BROD Free?
Is this confirmed?

@way2quik
..aren't you using the wrong type of flashing?
in the 2 buttons that have no text on your screenshots above the tickboxes is DB2020(A1)/PDA and the 2nd is DB3150(A2) ... If I have it right you have to use the 2nd for K850 (has less options tho!)

Although I can't see how legally they'd get away with that if you pushed them on it.
Technically true, but as I'm on my third phone and second repair I decided it was better to try a firmware that might actually work without another BROD!
It still has the remainder of the 2 year SE warranty anyway!
Can't believe Vodafone's attitude over this one..........

To change CDA, buy a credit for SE Client from http://www.kulankendi.com . Run the client, download any Western Europe firmware, for example R1EA037 GENERIC MAIN CID 52.min and R1EA037 WESTERN EUROPE FS CID 52.fsm. Change CDA to 1202-5694. That's the correct CDA for Western Europe. Flash the phone and then update via SEUS to R1FA035 or later.
Thanks for you reply
How do you know that is the right CDA? I have seen plenty of different numbers and I don't want to waste a credit... Is there a list somewhere with all the CDAs or anything? I know some people who bought the same phone and they had 1202-7787 and 1201-0077 with R1EA037...
I've found this firm on davinci:
K850i R1FA035 CID52 1201-0077 SPAIN/VELVET BLUE WESTERN-EUROPE - EN EU CA NL FR GL DE PT ES TR
Has any of you updated via SEUS with that cda number: 1201-0077???

one of them just insert SIM card from another network - boom BROD

@way2quik
Go to KK Client. Go to DB3150/A2 tab. Tick all options there, Finalisation-Reset Call Timer-etc. Tick change CDA. Then move the cursor to any digit you want, NOT DELETING all characters there! Leave the dash untouched! Delete only the digit you want. That should work.
@GeSko
I flashed my friend's K850 with R1EA037 WESTERN EUROPE and changed CDA to 1202-5694. Then run SEUS. SEUS says 'Update your K850a and K850i. Update selected WESTERN EUROPE R1FA035'. Isn't it working with the correct CDA?

thanks vortigern and aremaboy.
I did not notice there were two boxes on top.
I'm using Vista and the texts are greyed out.
I see it now.
Now to wait for KulanKendi to update their list for R1F.
I'm waiting for KK to update me on the CDA as I am not 100% sure which is correct to use.
The CDA has to be exact because here for Rogers Canada, there is a feature called Name Display that is only supported in America_1 firmware.

I have a k850 and the touch screen has stopped working occasionally. Would this be a hw or sw problem???
Posted by calypso1595
I'm thinking hardware.
Posted by Tervel
That's some funny shiiiat right there!
After discussing my previous BROD experience with someone who makes his living fixing cell phones, he believes that the problem might not be native to the firmware itself but rather the process of applying it in which case some corruption occurs. For me, I got one BROD after SEUS update and one after Davinci update. Since he upgraded my phone to R1F via SETool I have had no problems except for a very rare reboot - twice so far at the most.

Hardware most likely.
PS. It is not a touch screen. It's actually the sensors where those glow bars are on the casing. It's just makes you think it's a touch screen:)

UPDATE of R1F ....
I still cannot get MMS. Here's the breakdown.
1. It worked for 5days with this firmware until last Saturday then nothing Cannot Send/Receive.
However, yesterday & today ... (since my no more MMS issue on Rogers) I've Master Reset>Settings (today Master Reset ALL) and now my lovely K850i with themes still on M2 after the reboot defaults to the SE Crystal (I think).
26MB Memory Free. (Rogers Firmware I had 33-36 if I purged some pics)
I'm now on a new SIM, 400 series. older one was some 203040 series.
Purged settings, Resent myself maybe 5 times on Saturday, Sunday - Powercycled removed batt some 10times thus far. Resent settings from SE's Phone Support site (tech's did too 4 times today) and re-enabled MMS on the switch to NO AVAIL! Transfered the newly activated SIM in a Nokia 6020 and MMS send/received worked (also Rogers Branded). Back in my phone NOTHING. MMS icons show GREY-faded, yet SMS is the normal Yellow.
If I open the grey MMS it tries to auto download (yes Message Settings are set). Cell Info=ON, Allow PUSH=Yes, Area Info=ON. SO what the frak?! I cannot say its the firmware because it worked for more than 5days with teh new firmware. So I'm inclined to think that MMSC or something on the switch that ppl are overlooking is screwed up.
OH of note!!!: If you MASTER RESET ALL > and try the SE Setup Wizard to Grab Settings automatically (used to fined SEMC for Data, MMS, Videotron for GPRS), it WON'T WORK!!! It doesn't try past 1 full second reporting an Error. Also SE's site is NOT sending me settings, and its ticking me off something proper.

If the touch buttons stop working, it means the PCB responsible for detecting the changes went kaput. Purchase a new PCB and you'll be OK

I'd be very suprised if there's any more firmware after this one.... as the guy from voda says.."the K850 is at the end of its life now"
throw it in the bin and write it off as a bad purchase & never trust SE again.

Guy's .. about R3 firmy from C902 - look what SE responded to me..
"Also, we want to inform you that using the service Updates Sony Ericsson, install mobile phone Sony Ericsson K850i a version of softare new, improved, which resolves any defective software in the phone. However, the updated software does not bring mobile phone Sony Ericsson K850i features of another mobile phone differently."
^^ using Google Translate.
I don't think we can get on K850 those new features like C902 has (via update, except XS++), but we will get improvement on UI speed, camera driver (fixed red/pinkish issue) and removing other issues.. with next f/w's.

The phone remained stable and at acceptable responsiveness.

Nope .. I chose teh K790a settings it gives me the 3 settings that are uniquely correct for Rogers - choosing the K850i does NOT give me the Rogers (goam.com for unlimited browsing as per my contract, internet.com APN is for Streaming & tethering/modem use; which the network DOES know the difference).
Whats good is I figured out an oddity with SE Support Settings site. You will ONLY get settings ONCE/Mobile phone number - and I think its tracked by your IP address. Usually its not this way but I think it was some kind of spam prevention method with the changeover of the site. Whats REALLY good is I BESTED ALL 3 Rogers Reps (and their MMSC tech) whom FAILED at getting this working. Part of the problem was my SIM ... the gold contacts where wearing thin (its really old and seen many a phone), and the other part is the Settings once they were wiped, didn't get into the phone correctly again (up to the 1st 3 attempts I chose the K850i; after the other settings never arrived). I ... yes I got it working.
A2 phones have the IP Address in the Proxy Servers> HTTP > Proxy Address!! Funny because I spent 30mins last night combing the internet and found a few of my previous posts that worked on older A1 phones failing to work ... but it gave me the idea to look for this. Now I'm MMSing ... Viva la K850!

Are you two serious??? It's MORE stable, but it is NOT fully stable. I guess I'm unlucky with the Media Player still lagging up the phone. Not AS much, but it still does...

Upgraded to R1F, and it is a good firmware compared to the Rogers.
Another question, and I know this has been answered, but i cannot seem to find the answer on this thread; is there a way to change the 3-touch sensitive buttons? Media, Menu, Contact? I find it meaningless to have Contact on the right, when practically pressing Down brings up the Contacts list.
Thanks.

Well, I quickly browsed through the k750i firmware overview. There are 8 major firmware upgrades (discounting the vendor specific ones and the one solely for w800i ) this r1f is k850i's 6th. If this is it, I suggest mass emailing SonyEricsson like they did during the k750i start of life. The UI is still pretty slow when listening to music. Pink bug, though less prominent, is still there. Random reboots are still happening.
Posted by calypso1595
Yeah one more firmware update would be nice, fix the last few bugs.

have just put the new firmware on, noticed that when i have the HSDPA option on that i now get a HSDPA logo whereas before i got the 3G icon. If i select GSM and 3G i get 3G logo.
Can someone explain this to me? Was my HSDPA not working before?
Thanks.

There is room for improvement, but se don't care, they've made a stable firmware that does the job, not to the highest speed, but it gets there. They want to concentrate on putting their developing money into new phone firmwares.
