@aremaboy
When I first got my K850, I thought it was faulty when the screen kept dimming. If you go into a bright room, then put your finger over the light sensor, you'll actually see it adjust.

Going to be 10th December tomorrow!

I would like the camera cover NOT to go open when i press the camera button while in "view-picture" mode. I mean, it can open when i slide it back to camera mode.

@Bryan84
If it materialises tomorrow, I'll eat my hat, as they say.

Hoping this f/w upgrade fixes the camera. I know several people that have the problem with the flash.
I read about it on Friday so tried taking lots of photos in the dark and only twice did it actually work. The rest of the time the flash went off to early and once or twice, it didn't go off at all.

@1889
This is already fixed in version R1CA037, which is available now via SEUS or using the update service function on your phone.

Is R1CA037 the latest firmware?

As of today, yes. Hopefully the answers will be no tomorrow.

New firmware out on the 10th. I am not holding my breath....
I don't understand how weeks in advance they give a specific date on a process that undergoes several modifications and tests. I would be surprised if it even comes out this week!!
It seem in the past they are just released and someone just happens to notice it...there hasn't been a something like a marching band to alert the public before.

If there is a new firmware out on the 10th, you have to ask where 037 fits into the grand scheme of things? 037 is only just available for all CDA's (not even sure it's 100% available) yet there is another firmware ready to land....? Why not bundle them together?
You could understand if 037 was released to fix a specific, important issue. Or was only release to specific CDA's. But as that's not the case, why the need for two releases in a short space of time?

037 did fix a specific, important issue: the camera. The 5mp camera is arguably the phone's biggest selling point, and it hardly worked! R1CA037 was entirely necessary.
Though I'm still remaining sceptical about tomorrow, I think releasing two firmwares so close together in this case is very reasonable.

I'm updating now...didn't bother to do the "take out the battery thing" before putting in the cable and pressing "C". Let's see what we'll get....97% now...

I'm not holding by breathe for '3' (Hutchison 3G) in Aus to release an update
Posted by fullforce
Well hahaha!
I now got:
R1CA 037 071012
same old crap??
I got 029 before...
I may very well imagine this but it felt like the meny-scrolling goes a bit faster now..but as i said i might be imagining this...it's 6 o'clock in the morning here..and i haven't got to bed yet....yaaaawn
edit..hmm yes maybe the menus are a bit faster now...and also maybe maybe tha camera started up a tad faster after pressing the button..it defanately closes faster
I guess this is the "old" 037 firmware and not some "new" 037.

Has there been an improvement in picture quality then, since the firmware update? Or just the flash-sync problem?

tell me about it
3 always take things slow...especially here in Aus

@RobM
AFAIK, just the flash sync problem. The camera was close to useless before the update, unless you turned the flash off, which wasn't always ideal.
Posted by fyrestrtr
Does anyone else have this problem of the camera taking a long time to shift between scenes?
1. Turn the camera on
2. Point it at a subject
3. Move it in any direction and you'll see the screen goes into 'slow motion', then finally settles on the subject.
I wish I could tell you if new update is available, but unfortunately I am having problems detecting the SEMCBOOT driver for the USB cable; however I am able to flash my P1i perfectly.
Vista Ultimate 64.

Since I updated to the new firmware, my phone has a bad habit of switching off and turning on by itself! Anyone having the same experience?

Loosing all your SMS, and doing a HARD REBOOT as the only solution to this this problem (with the result of loosing all the data on the phone) is a serious bug if you ask me!
I have got this bug twice the last month. And thats two times more than it should. And I see that a lot of other ppl in this thread also have experienced this bug..
Besides this bug, I love the phone!

Can somebody add this to the bug list? I have seen alot of ppl with this bug in the 29 version..
And, can somebody please vertiy if this is still a bug in the new firmware?

can you not update without going via the official website as per the K810i?
Posted by sverkalo
It is a bug. I have it from the moment I updated to 37. At 29 it wasn't here.

Are you talking about the "Operation failed", or some other bug?

The new version 037 is released to O2 now. I have upgraded my phone.
Apparently the phone seems to be responding faster and photos much better.

I upgraded my phone to the 037 revision of the firmware last week and noticed that my phone powers off right with about 6 - 10% juice left in the battery. The phone just dies and sometimes won't restart until I start charging it. Also noticed that the battery seems to drain faster than it was with the original firmware.
Anyone else having these issues?

Let's make some kind of time table of availability of the new firmware in SEUS for different CDA (customization regions), I want to know the delay between them.
ADRIATIC - R1CA037 2007-NOV-30
WESTERN-EUROPE R1CA037 2007-DEC-03
C-ASIA - R1CA037 2007-DEC-07
APAC-ANZ - R1CA037 2007-DEC-05
HONG-KONG ?
BALTIC ?
CENTRAL-EUROPE ?
AMERICA ?
JAMAICA ?
S-CENTR-AFR ?
RUSSIA - Still not available

@dipb
That was released to O2 users 2 weeks ago. Don't get our hopes up.

I'm on voda UK and still on 029
Got the 'operation failed' bug on my sms on friday but don't want the hassle of master resetting if 037 will fix it.. just wish they'd hurry up!

@vortigern
Flashing 037 with SEUS won't fix it. It needs to be flashed at a service centre.

Eh. And whats the difference? Its the same software. Do you think they change chips or something?
Posted by dave_vl
It's 10 Dec. No new firmware?
Posted by masseur
@bespatter, yes. The way that service centres flash the firmware is different to the way SEUS does and that makes the difference.
its already been mentioned in this thread that using SEUS will not cure the problem
a temporary measure is to master reset but the problem will likely return
that, I think, sums up whats in this thread about that problem
@dave_vl, as always, if there was a new firmware you would be reading about it already and there would be no need to ask

CENTRAL-EUROPE - 037 .

Slightly annoyed that the update hasn't materialised.
I find it ridiculous that SE have released a phone that doesn't work properly. I've had the K700, K750 & K800 and never had one single problem with any of them. How can they make the camera so that the flash doesn't go off at the right time?!!
I've currently got f/w 037 on my phone. Was the camera flash problem in place on f/w 029?
Posted by Sebby
@1889
I suggest you have a read through this thread; it's all in here.

My 037 doesn't have the flash sync problem

Another possible bug, not sure if it's firmware specific though.... quite a few times when I try to unlock the phone by pressing the * key first, the keypad stays illuminated but the screen doesn't turn on. There is no way from then to use the phone without having to turn it off and back on, or even worse, pull the battery.
