Replacement K850 arrived 2 days ago and I still can't get it to work so sending it back to O2... Doesn't recognise SIM card and the battery is scrached to hell!!!

Not good enough O2...

This will now be the 3rd phone sending back so will be asking for something different! what do you guys recon I should get out of this list below:
1. W960i
2. K850I (black)
3. W890i
4. W910i
5. W580i
6. P1
7. W880i
8. something not SE.

What do you recon?

O2 driving me MAD!!!! (Grrr)

Just spoke to them saying the refurb replacement K850 I recieved is faulty, asked if it was possible for a different handset to which they now say I need to have sent back 4 faulty phones when this is my 3rd!!!
I was under the impression that they replaced when your 3rd one was faulty???

can anyone else help me here, is it me going mad?!

@numb ... you're reds may be pink.. but at least you have a picture.

I decided it wasn't worth unBRODing my phone as there's no point carrying something that may turn into a brick with a blue ring at any moment.
....that was well over a month ago.

Even when it did work, I agree the pics it took were always noisy and look interpolated, and the touch buttons were annoying as they didn't always work.. and sometimes they did work but a few secs later ... so by this time you'd pressed again thinking it hadn't worked ... and then accidentally agreed to sign up to some subscription service!

It's one thing putting out a crappy phone, but not acknowledging a major floor with it is just plain wrong.

Its funny actaually, i don't the pinkish issue, or not as least survere as you. I want to know the difference between the k850 and the k858, cause i think there might have been slight improvements that later buyers, like myself, are experiencing. I've had it since feburary, but havn't had any dust beneath the cover, the phone doesn't squeak when you hold it, the phone is fast and responsive, touch buttons work like a dream. I've had one BROD but k850 and k858 run on the same firmware so....

I think the K858 is for China. Previously SE would release the xx8 models for China. Should be the same phone though...

numb > Since we're throwing pictures around, here's a couple: first one is from the K850, second from a Nikon D200. I picked a bunch of red objects to show:

the K850 shot indeed looks lighter on the reds but this is mostly white ballance in my opinion. I don't see the extreme pink that you are showing on yours and haven't seen it from my K850. Mine's still stuck at R1CA037 until BROD's resolved.

Color seems to be ok on 031 also in my opinion. The red is abit brighter because of the flash in my picture but not pink.

Guys today i saw that sony have launched the g900i and that was one the phone along with the c902 on the list of coming soon so i guess the c902 launched is near hopefully along with our firmware ....the g900i is in stores and selling at 529.99 us. dollars. so i really think something will happen th for us this month

Propably because we have been good happy loyal SE customers for years.

Being happy with earlier phones from SE, and seing a new SE Camera Flagship phone being advertised I immediately ordered one. How the hell was I to know in advance that it would turn out to be such crap - I kinda had to own one first before I could know and before I can bitch about it. Or would you rather Id bitch about it without owning one ?

I payed $580 for this junk, and I cant return it or get my money back - all I can do is throw it in the bin and spend another $580 on a different phone

And having been through 20 or so SE phones before this one - I do feel in my right to bitch when they present me with such a device thats flawed in such serious ways.

The camera is seriously flawed with its colortint and its imagenoise/compressionartefact - and yet its announced like this great camera phone like nothing else. I have taken more than a thousand pictures with it now - desperately hoping for just 1 that would satisfy me in terms of color accuraccy, focus and imagenoice - but no it hasnt happened yet. And I took thousands with my K750 that I felt plenty satisfied with in these areas, so its not like Im putting to much expectations on the K850. I dont expect it to act like my Canon DSLR camera - all I expect is that it produce colors that look as correct as the K750 does.

To illustrate my point - heres a picture of a car which is RED in real life - not pink.

Heres the same picture with a quick simulation done in Photoshop of how the red should have been.

The difference should be obvious.

The softbuttons is such a big design flaw - I have seriously never witnessed anything more stupid in industrial design - and they make use of the phone for everyday purpose almost impossible.
Scenario: I have keylock on, the phone rings, I pick up which unlocks the keylock, while Im talking the softbuttons are activated by my cheek and the phone starts writing sms, or turns on mediaplayer or something else, I end my phonecall and the keylock turns on again automatically - but then I have to manually turn off keylock in order to bring the phone out of whatever action it had started by itself while I was talking, and bring it back to the menu, then finish by turning on keylock again. How incredibly stupid design is that ? Hell I was only trying to answer a call - I dont have time to spend nursing the phone like that every single time it rings.

on top of that the software is so immature and slow, and the softbuttons so poor to react when you actually try to use them - that its a pain to operate the phone. Beleive me you are not missing out of any speed improvements from the latest firmwares - cause there arent any.

I cant beleive anyone would still try to defend this phone - or defend the total lack of interest from SE to do anything about it. All they care about now is just putting out new phones to sell you once more.

This one is a dead horse - and it will never be ok.

Dude the Nikon D200 is one of the best DSLR camera! But I preffer now the D300 for dust cleaning integrated system.

I'm not rubbing peoples nose in it but I have updated my W890 to the R1F firmware and you should see the difference in speed! Its incredible. Its very nearly as fast as the DB2020 handsets!

The W890 previously had R1EA030 and SEUS updated it to R1F (mine is Western European). The difference was noticeable right away! Hopefully R1F does the same for the K850.

Hi , today my K850i was BROD-ed , early this morning . Only keypad , blue ring and on/off power button was beam . I've removed the battery and sim card for a couple of hours , and then put them back , and .. wonder , the phone turned on and work fine again , still a few hours . Isn't it strange ?

I agree - I really like my D200 and probably will eventually move to a D300, but what I really wanted to show is a comparison between two cameras vs taking a K850 picture and then photoshop-ing it to make it look like what it's supposed to. It's all about how the sensor 'sees' the object, and in some cases cameras just cannot reproduce the color without lots of tweaking (white balance for mixed light sources for example).

Yes he will be fine, it will still be unlocked after a firmware update but it will update to Orange branded firmware is what I was saying.

It wont update to generic/debranded firmware unless he uses davinci etc.....first to debrand it

doesn't matter who unlocked the phone, if it is not debranded and just unlocked it will update to a newer branded (in this case orange) firmware. but it will still be unlocked.

Has someone noticed degradation of bass at max volume? I had a chance to listen same mp3 with same earphones on K750 and K850. K750 didn`t degrade sound but K850 degraded sound at max volume. Btw K750 got much louder high volume than K850. Seems like another software issue. I wonder when they gonna do something with it.

why are the delaying tooo much.......

they know thier product has not done well manily because of the firmware.. why cant they release firmy sooner....

I think I found other issue.
When the power of the battery is reducing, the icon doesn't change color Green > Orange > Red as it happened since the T610 (AFAIK).
Has anyone else noticed this??

Yes, it was noticed just after release k850i ... And for me it was better when color was changed ... Green -> Orange -> Red ... Now it`s strange ... Green - Red ...

Are you nuts? That is a issue? Loool.. =)). Even if its Red, or Green, or something else, I check every time battery % by pressing + or - volume keys. I don't care what color show's that battery icon..

nope thats the update for the SEUS application. not firmware.. however may be this is a sign... my fingers are crossed...
