ye the new 037

Posted by Targett
I'm, waiting for number 3 K850 now, should be in the post from O2 as we speak...
Fingers crossed that I don't get another BROD, althugh not holding out much hope as O2 doesn't suppoer the new 037, it's still on 031!!! (not sure why though)

If the new one dies then I think I'll be looking at tge G900 or C902 (when it's out) as a replacement?!

R1EC001 is fantastically stable, if only it wasn't full of the Orange branding.

I haven't had a restart in ages and it's not too slow. Needs to be faster when multitasking, but the best firmware I've had so far

I am not sure if my next phone would be SE I like design N82 ( but i hate Nokia!!! ): it has 5mp + wifi + good player with 3,5mm jack = thats all i need...and K850 has only 5mp damn it

Are you guys aware there is a new firmware out for W910? Its R1F...

Posted by aremaboy
R1FA030 is available for W890, W910, Z770, K660 and Z750. So, there's always a hope for K850..
It fixes the Media Background bug.

Once again it's better to wait and see 2-3 weeks just to be sure that this new FW is finally BROD free, unless you can stay 1 month without your K850 or wanna pay $$ to repair it

Posted by Krzysiecw
Anyway i`m getting to lost my hopes for SE ... 2 months ... And no new FW ... Where`s that R3 ? ... I starting to think it will never be released :/ F.ex ... New FW for W910 still have a revision R1 :/ How i heard all A2 phones should have R3 ... so why they released for w910 R1 again ? :/ Lost my hopes ...

Posted by pavoo
they also released R1 for K660i..... i just updated mine

Posted by Krzysiecw
So i lost my hopes ... :/

I havent received a reply from the SE customer centre either......

Guys I think the update for us is ready but reading the threads for the w910i aint sounding to promising the only good is that mp4 is working good, but restarts still there so i personally feel as early as next week we can expect a new up date not sure bout r3, but something is there for us again really hope they surprise us.

Posted by cableguy
I dont see Se releasing an update to K850i firmware until the end of June, for two reasons.

If its going to be an R3 firmware(face recognition etc), why would people buy a C902i when you could buy a cheaper K850i?

Also Se seem to release the K850i every two months, so in line with that means mid june.

Posted by mr versatile
@cableguy
Hope yuh right, because i really keep saying if yuh cannot get the k850 issues solve, do not launch the c902 because that will be the biggest disaster in that company history so i really hope you right

first of all. can k850 have face detection ??????

is it just a pure software thing. isnt some hardware included ?????

Just checked for the Z770. Doesn't seem to be available yet for APAC. Or is it just my phone? I don't even have the option to continue the update anyway. Weird. And there doesn't seem to be a HSDPA option on my Z770.

Why isn't the K850 on the list for new firmware upgrade? That is something to think about.

no, face recognizing is pure software, so if SE doesnt add this future, maybe some modders wil ..

Well mine is a Quicksilver Black and the sticker says 08W19
So it's from May 5 - 10 2008

what i mean is, must there not be some tiny hardware-component between the screen and the camera ????

do you really think a k850 can have this feature with just changing software...

yes, as far as I know this is pure software, could be wrong tho

This will probably get a barrage of replies saying IO'm bone idle for not searching for my issue throughout this post and the rest of the forum.

Had my k850 on Orange since day of release, and it crashes left right and centre... As well as freezing.

The crashing happens randomly... screen goes blank, keypad lights up like it thinks its the festive season then it shuts down and wont allow me to turn it back on for a good 20 seconds. The freezing on the other hand is noticeable when using the touch screen keys, and when I'm writing a message.

Now I updated my firmware a few weeks back using the phones update service and its current software version is 1200-4398 R1EC001 080225. Im presuming its firmware version R1EC001 and the date was 25th Feb 2008 and that this is Orange only firmware.

I'm wondering how I should go about resolving this crashing issue... as its not just me but several friends who are tbh p'd off with what is otherwise a fantastic phone.

Is it possible removing the orange firmware and going sim free with the latest firmware for that would be the best option and if so how would I go about doing that?

Sorry once again...but i did search and couldnt find anything that specifically helped me.
Thanks

You could have asked me Steve. The K850,W910 and other A200 all experience random shutdowns.Use Davinci to debrand it (making sure you select the correct colour of K850) if you must.I did find the unbranded firmware to be slightly quicker and more stable than the voda and orange branded K850's i've had.Again its up to you.Depends if you think its worth doing or not.

Posted by Killfr3nzy
@heppell2k:

You'll have to debrand your phone with Kulankendi, Wotanserver or Davinci client in order to get rid of Orange, this isnt free (but wont cost you much either, i recommend you unbrand your phone).

After unbranding, you're able to update to the latest firmwares, and theres a new firmware coming up soon, so it only can get better..

Btw, the newest firmwares are much more stable..

Hey,

I think I may have come up with a way to reproduce the restarting bug... not BROD though.. just the "random" reboots.

> put a couple of wallpapers (320x240, for consistency) in the Pictures folder of your memory card.

> set your standby WP to one of them

> wait a while, it varies from minutes to hours but I did not do precise timing

> the phone will reboot - you don't have to stare at your phone to check this, because when it does, the wallpaper will be the theme default and not the one you set from the memory card. go into the menu and exit to restore the wallpaper.

Hope some of you can try this and let me know if this does the trick.

I sure do and its gr8 on R1EA031

However on r1EA037, on 3g shows and not H.

However on R1EA037 I didnt get to see the G or E above the signal bar.

I also couldnt find the data com to switch the feature on. It wasnt in any settings i could see.

Earphone not working = Earphone broken. Not a firmware issue therefore doesn't belong in this thread.

hw cm..all of sudden??...btw iv syncronized phn with myphone explorer...may b dat cause to dead....??..i dnt knw y..

Posted by The Barron
as was previously mentioned, thats a hardware fault, needs sending to an authorised repair agent or SE themselve, myphoneexplorer just reads data from the phone and can't break it like that.

NO!

Posted by Krzysiecw
There is one more posibility that SEUS doesn`t see update for you ... because there is wrong product code ... My friend had it ... He had k850i from SE Shop and he couldn`t make any update with clear unbranded CDA ... He asked in local SE serevice center and they said there is something wrong with product code ... I don`t know any detail ...

I think there would be no firmware coming this month.

It's because two more cyber-shot phones have to be introduced in the market this month and SE wants them to get exposed. They don't want the old model to interfere with the new ones' entrance.

And I am also starting to doubt R3 firmware...
My eyes are shifting towards XS++...

It was just my speculations. But ofcourse I don't want that to happen.
I was just thinking why wasn't it released at the same time when the firmware of other models were released.
Delay tactics perhaps?

Ok guys, I got a BROD.
I've got 3 options right:
1. Plug into SEUS update and click updaye anyway
2. Send to SE service center (don't want to do this cause takes to much time)
3. Use KK or daV to reflash

Which one is the best?

Option 1 is out of the question, as it will not solve Brod, so only option 3....
