Why isn't the first message in this string updated so that it shows the 037 as widely available. I think virtually everyone has access now.
I also think that there will be no Dec 10 update. It just seems so surprising that one update will be one week & then another the very next.

Maybe the Asian version of the firmware is not available yet.
The only guys here who managed to update were from Europe mainly.
So you might have to wait a few more days... keep trying.

I hope i will, thanks for answers. 4 days till 10th december!

Just noticed...
You are from serbia but have an asian K850i.
So you must have bought it abroad (or the person who sold it to you did).
That's your problem... when the FS was changed in your phone to support the adriatic languages, the guy who did it didn't change the customization version (to match the FS).
So i guess you should not update your phone through SEUS as i think you will get the asian language pack back again.

I can't update mine. I've got an APAC-NZ version bought in London SIM-free, and no access to a Windows machine so I'm stuck with OTA and constantly told I've the latest version already.
I've had "Operation failed" for applications and games for weeks, but last night I started getting that for all SMS/MMS folders and email too. I couldn't send any messages because it tried to write to the outbox first and failed, and I couldn't receive any nor did I even get notification that I'd been sent one. A master reset has given me messaging back again but none of the *MSes I got sent for the 12 hours or so it was broken have appeared, so I guess they're just lost for good.

C-ASIA i think is shortened central Asia, the language i have is russian and it was made for russian market. I got original firmware, nobody hasn't changed it. I use english language so for me it is not important what is other languages i have. This store had the best price so i didn't bothered with searching other unit with mine language

The flash sync problem doesn't exist on 037, so you're either doing one of two things (or both):
1. you haven't taken the film off the back of the phone - this interferes with the light sensor;
2. you're not holding the phone properly when you're taking a picture - refer to the leaflet in the box.

Yeah 037 doesn't have the sync problem.
It's the way you hold the phone

I just find out the K850i Music Player has poorier quality than the K800i. Especially when the equaliser is switched on, there is some trail of noise from the bass sound...
well, i'm using a good quality headphone from bose (with noise cancelling) so i can observe the misperfect sound quite easily...
Any chance new firmware will improve this? I didn't notice I had the same problem with my good old K800i...
Thanks,
Harry

I noticed the megabass certainly reduces the quality of the songs. I have never really understood why people love megabass, maybe its because this is the first SE phone I have had? But really, to me it seems so so overrated...please somebody correct me. Do my mp3s have to be a higher kbps?
Posted by br@dley
I mentioned this previously...
Megabass on my K750i sounded great. On my new K850i megabass has the bass way too high resulting in the sound being distorted. I use upgraded SE headphones (HPM-75?).
Posted by ccsharry
Well, I never use megabass... i normally use customise equaliser...

I have two questions about this phone Just received it.
1. How the hell do you get the simcard out ? (It looks a bit tricky)
2. How do I set custom ringtones for say [Family] group contacts?
Thank you in advance.
Posted by br@dley
1) Push the sim card down and it will pop back up and out. Same goes for the memory card. (read the manual dude, hehe:)
2) I don't think you can assign group ringtones on SE phones. I couldn't on my K750i and I'm sure it's still that way on the K850i. My old Nokia had this feature which was very handy. The groups are used just for bulk SMSing as far as I can tell.

After upgrading to 037, I did notice the music quality on Megabass really sux like what users have mentioned above. Even when it's not a max volumne. The cracking sound can still be heard.
Posted by joolz1
Thanks man I did read the manual it has instructions on how to release the Memory card (push back onto it), but didn't state on how to release Sim card, I didn't figure the simcard would use the same technique.
Thanks

Sent this Questions to Sony Ericsson Call Center!
1- The flash doesn't always sync with the image capture, leaving dark or black photos in night conditions.
2- Manual equaliser settings are not remembered when exiting and then returning to the media player.
3- Using DS-970 and MBW-150, when using the clock to increase the volume,it takes 9-10 seconds before the audio stops stuttering
4- The Media player speed is poor when dealing with many entries
Answer from Sony Ericsson Call Center:
Dear Customer,
Thank you for contacting Sony Ericsson Call Center.
1. This is most likely because you are holding your fingers near the flash sensor that causes it not sync properly.
2. When i try here the settings are stored, i change the settings, press done and then stop the song and exit the media player. Then i enter the media player and press resume, the settings are still the same.
3. For some seconds you can have interruptions in the music of a HBH-DS970 or HBH-DS980 or HBH-DS200 or HBH-DS220 Bluetooth headset when you have a MBW-150 also connected to the same BT phone. This is due to limitations in the bandwidth of the Bluetooth radio link.
4. The phone has to read all the id3 tags of the songs and store the information one time and this can take very long time if you have many songs.
Best regards,
/Jimmy

3. NO, it's must be a bug, startup order, Start BT in K850i, start BT in DS-970, start BT in MBW-150 works better, so it's give me more stuttering problem if I have this startup order, start BT in K850i, start BT in MBW-150, start BT in DS-970.
4. NO, it's a well-known bug, the UI has performance problem then using MediaPlayer, reported all over the Internet, example http://www.esato.com/board/viewtopic.php?topic=157121 If I listen on one track and try to send a SMS, it's give you a performance problem, try to see a picture (when listen to music) and use zoom, in/out, the music level increase then trying to zoom out.
"New" answer from SE.......
1. This is caused of incorrect placement of the fingers when taking pictures. Please see attached leaflet.
2. Expect this to be fixed in the next firmware update.
4. Performance for UI will be optimized for next firmware update.

Is there someone here with R1CA037 and after having this new firmware for some time suddenly experiencing Operation Failed bug either in SMS or MMS or Games/Application folder?
Posted by Sebby
@aremaboy
This has been mentioned a lot. You'll need to get it flashed at a service centre. Doing a master reset cures it for some, but I believe the problem will reappear.

I know that. What I mean is many people got Operation Failed with 029 f/w. But just curious, after with 037 f/w, does this bug likely happen?
Posted by Sebby
Ah, I see. From what I've read, if you had it on 029, it's not solved by flashing 037 via SEUS. It needs to be flashed by SE.
Posted by Rifqi_Aziz
@mwarner
Could you please add this bug to R1CA029's bugs list?
- When turning on the phone in which MicroSD Card is inserted, the phone always asks to format the memory card.
This bug isn't solved yet on R1CA037.
Thanks.
Posted by Sebby
@Rifqi_Aziz
That's not the case with all cards. This has been mentioned before and it seems that only one or two people had this problem. I've got a SanDisk 2GB microSD and have never had an issue like you mention.
Posted by masterv
With 037 I can't make Photos in low light condition and 1-2 metres distance. Every photo is darker than it was with 029.

I've just upgraded by S-E-Europe phone to 37, and all seems fine so far. BUT... the one thing that I'm absolutely delighted to see, is the option to 'Always Allow' Bluetooth audio devices, as that wasn't there before.
This means my Bluetooth car kit will connect and synchronise automatically now, instead of connecting and then asking me if it's allowed to synchronise every couple of minutes until I say yes.
Very happy about this

I'm on software 037 (ANZ) and have recently noticed that in the standby blacked-out screen (keypad locked) status, pressing either volume key shows the standby clock and status (ie missed calls and messages). Really useful, too bad it can't permanently display like K610i
ALso, certain Themes make the phone hang, eg. Firepin which has intensive animations.
Posted by aremaboy
Have just got the phone and first impression : awesome. Great UI, super fast camera, all-in-one multimedia device. However, I got twice reboots, inconsistent backlit strength, unable to delete songs from media player, and cannot run PhotoMate as it keeps shutting down by itself due to memory leakage. Also, I can't access Demo Tour as it says the file has been removed from the phone memory, which isn't. I just moved the video to M2, and then removed it back to the phone memory and suddenly it's not recognised anymore. Strange.
Ah, well, new firmwares will come, no need to get mad. Just enjoy this device.

re: back light
The brightness of the back light varies with the ambient light around you. There is a light sensor on the top left of the front of the phone. If you cover it the screen will go brighter.
The theory is you don't need full brightness on the screen in a dark room, but you do need full brightness in daylight.
I generally use my phone at 50% brightness anyway so this feature doesn't do anything for me:)
Posted by aremaboy
I really don't know about that light sensor. Thanks for informing.
