Hello,

I'm using a K850 with R1EA031 and I've not been able to update to 037 via SEUS. I'm on O2, and SEUS tells me that I already have the latest firmware. Has anyone else had this same issue?

I think you'll find that O2 and Vodafone will take some time to "approve" or if you prefer "doctor" the software, before it is ready on SEUS!

@uzicorp 031 is the latest firmware for o2,
o2 have not passed the new firmware yet, which is unusual as all other releases where available very quickly.

@Argon
@larry 68

Thanks for the info. I'd rather not doctor the firmware as I'm too worried about getting a BROD (which I've never had but since everyone talks about them I'd like to keep the risk minimal).

I guess we have to wait a bit for them to release it.

Cheers.

do you want the volume so high that it hurts your ears after a while or to the point where your music starts to distort

i cant hear any outside noises when im listening to mine. volume is plenty!

compared to other phones in the market the headphone volume is a bit low. i wish it was just a bit more louder.

yes, with the original headsets the volume is very low..
but if you try any of these new walkman headsets (with those rubbers plugged in the ear) the quality and volume increases alot!

i just purchased some SONY MDR-EX85LP headphones and im waiting till they arrive...has anyone used this kind of earphone with the media player? any improvement on the volume?

I use HBH-DS220 BT together with Sony-InEar MDR-NE3. Real heavy sound! I can't have it on full volume. So I wonder, how in heck anybody can complain on the volume of the K850.

new 037 rocks bigtime. very stable, very good camera quality. just point & shoot. no need for any photo dj

ps. @farukkk, my k810 take MUCH worse flash pics then my K850 (when its longer distance)...thats for sure
(change your cam driver (preferably with EMMA) and your k850 will eat the hell of you K810)

HI@all!

I've flashed my K850i in the SP next to me, but now there are also the "memorystick: no file found" strings in the software information. What does this means?

The SIM and the M2 was'nt in the phone during update.

What can i do?

Don't worry. Nothing's wrong with your phone. I even get strange string 1E0W with my phone customisation, but it does NOT do any harm at all. SEUS recognizes the phone and always gives updates.

Posted by SirRobin
Thank you!

I'm not sure what this string means, google shows me a lot of such strings after firmware updates.

Is there a file i can put on the memorystick to fix this string? On my K800i there where 2 files with such information on the stick...

Maybe the solution to put out the m2 and the sim, flash again over SEUS, put on the phone, after powering down put in m2 and sim and restart again? Anybody tested this already?

Just did my Update to the R1EA037 using SEUS and i have to say that my K850 now runs faster and smoother

Pretty good to choose now the HSPDA option and the vibration in the touch keys

Also the quality of photos seems better

Posted by mr versatile
after reading and reading the new 037 definitly works better but again its just a fix (I get reboots only when i used vibra options for the touch keys )other than iam really ok with it , the camera quality is very some timemish it work very good on some days and other day picture quality just 50/50 ......can some please test conversation recording and tell me if it works with this FW it was working fine with the old 037 now if i am on a call and try to record it ,some error message pops up it works when you are not on a call. Any way its a firmware fix just to keep us going untill they reward us with the BIG r3 FIRMY

Posted by Vlad83
@plankgatan farukkk's comparison demonstrates the inaccurate representation of colors on the k850 which persists no matter the fw version. 037 does not display colors any better than 031.

@SirRobin Dont worry about the missing info on the memory card, I have the same thing and its working fine. I think its intentional...

Posted by obentou
the colours on the k850i are those characteristic to the LCD, if changes are to be made, you'll have to manually compensate RGB values... because the LCD this phone uses has really warm colour temps.

my estimate is that it will hit us in June, when the c902 comes out, what i really want to know is the precessor in the c902, that will reveal alot

mmmm i was afraid but i updated to R1EA037 from --A031 and i can't see any difference/improvement. The media player speed is just like the pervious. Its ok but not good enough. The previous bugs like theme-background, missing right arrow-head when using smart-search..etc are still present.
The phone functionality is superb. only i want more loudness in handsfree when playing through media... its not loud enough as in the FM.

p.s. @plankgatan
care to reply pm's?

Posted by dentoters07
actually, it's not fair to compare a "modified" camera driver to an original camera driver.. and if look at it, k850's pics are more natural than that of k810 with UCD withan camdriver..

Same in my phone. The HSDPA Option is still missing after a fullflash in the SC.

Posted by aremaboy
If you have R1CA029 and R1CA037, then run SEUS to R1EA037, you will have HSDPA option.
Strangely, if you reflash the phone to R1EA031 or later, either via SE Service Centre, EMMA, KulanKendi, Davinci, SETOOL or whatever, you have NO HSDPA option.
I don't know why. Even if you have R1EA037, then run SEUS to get Continue Anyway option, you still have NO HSPDA option.

I don't know why.

Posted by melk
But HSDPA works anyway, even if you do not have the option, so who cares?

When you select 3G, if the phone senses HSDPA it will use that automatically. I still have the icon next to the signal meter, even if I cannot select the option in the Mobile Neworks menu.

yup. Flashed my phone via SE center, and hsdpa option is gone. But the H icon still appears from time to time.

Posted by 0kti
i don't have even H icon :/

Posted by buntoo
I had HSDPA option when i updated via SEUS from R1CA037 to R1EA031 two months ago. But then it showed BROD and after i got it back repaired, it has no HSDPA option now (R1EA031 is installed)

Last night i updated it to R1EA037 and still havn't that option.

Hey guys, I went from a branded Rogers (canada) firmware to another one branded as 3 Planet (UK). Rogers one had many blocked features. But anyways I now have the R1CA029 firmware.

I heard a new firmware came out today but when I go to the SEUS it says no updates are available. I really want to get the generic firmware on my phone and also the old firmware is way too buggy.

Any help in this regard?!

Where did you hear that a new firmware came out today??? This is plain spreading rumors I think - there hasn't been a newer release than R1EA037 as far as anyone on this board has seen. If you're stuck on R1CA029 most likely something in the firmware is such that SEUS can't give you a newer firmware - you'll have to use a third party tool to flash it (and I recommend changing the base of the firmware to either unbranded or something fairly generic while you're at it). I recommend Davinciteam.com < very easy to use. I would recommend staying AWAY from wotan based on my previous experience and other problems I have read on this board.

Hey all can anyone confirm if the problem with the dust behind the lens cover was only on older models and not any newer ones?

Thanks

Posted by DanGrover
Just got BROD on 37. Upgraded as soon as it was available.

Posted by vegetaleb
I have a December model and never had dust under the lens

Just to clarify because people will take this and go with it anyway they want - You mean R1EA037 and not R1CA037 right?

Posted by bavlondon2
Whats the difference between EA and CA versions?

Posted by Holdit
Check page 1 - From what I gather, EA is based on 031 in attempt to get rid of the BROD issues but it still exists so they failed on that part

Posted by zombiecat
Hmm.

My K850 has always been a stinking turd of a phone; now it's a stinking turd of phone that doesn't work...

f/w updated to 037, phone seems a little faster. Then the (in)famous BROD. Try to update with SEUS, it finds the phone, but that's that.

Bloody thing then dies totally. Just a red LED under the on/off button. Kulankendi can't find it. Suppose there's nothing to do but to send the damn thing back to where it came from (hell, I supect, or the local cheap-chinese-crap-shop?)

Any of you chaps/ladies have other ideas about how I can rescue it without sending it back? Suggestions along the lines of stamp on it/throw it into the canal/burn it are welcome, although not especially helpful in the circumtances
