Wilko, you have what became to be know as the Blue Ring of Death, or BROD. There is no way to transfer anything from your phone. You either need to send it in to to SE or flash with davinci or KK. Do some research, this has been covered plenty.

K850 is a very nice phone and everything but I just cant live with all the bugs it has and thinking BROD going to happen in any moment so I sold it, I m using a k810 until SE Fix k850 firmware.
I can say I m ver happy now with a very stable phone

Little tip if you're sending it back is to take out the battey - if they replace your phone you'll then have a spare!

AAAAAGH!

Was listening to music on me phone just now.... it randomly rebooted, as it does - I think "it's taking a while to come back"

turn the phone over, and guess what I see staring back at me?

NOOOoo! Dude sorry to hear that. Curious, did you experience any of the issues amongst your 4 K850i's if they were branded firmware?

Man that blows! Add your name to the BROD List thread.

Posted by mr versatile
hey guys how much does it really cost to debrand a phone ,does it matter as to what country you live in the process looks a little tidious on davinci..is it easier on davinci or kk my friend wants to debrand his k850i

Are you sure? ... mine's saying update not needed.
It is in a state of BROD tho (still trying to work out KKClient - really don't wanna wipe the settings, but is that my only option?)

I only experienced BROD on the first one (branded), the 2nd was unbranded with R1CA037 firmware, but the Activity menu button doesnt work so they replaced with a new one with R1CA037 too (unbranded) but the key didnt work too ( I think is a bug)

I sold it until SE release a stable firmware I dont like waiting 3 weeks every time my phone stop working.

Hi everyone,

I'm getting a K850i hopefully today (on O2), but where can I obtain the latest file system and firmware so I can debrand it? I'm not sure what the latest firmware for this phone is (is it R1EA037?).

Thanks a lot,

Tom

Flash it with KulanKendi. Pick up K850i R1EA031 CHINA MAIN and APAC-ANZ FS. Change CDA to 1201-8437. Then, update via SEUS to R1EA037.

Hi,

I'd rather use XS++, as I know how that works. I need the Europe file as well, any ideas where I can get it from?

Thanks,

Tom

It does not support K850i unfortunately.

Ah, what can I use to debrand it then (for free)?

Thanks a lot.

Guys, I did a reflash of firmware some days ago now it seems quite stable even after I tortured my device!!!!~~~ Last time it did reboot on me but now it did not reboot once!!

All I did was to reflash the firmware, after turning ON the phone, it will automatically turn OFF again. Now, DO NOT REMOVE THE BATTERY AND REINSERT IT!!Wait for around 20 seconds then power ON your phone again. Then wait for your media to be fully loaded annd try out your phone. It did work on my phone, and I'm using a 8Gb m2 card with 3.729Gb free.

Posted by jbbrs
That is exactly what I did after two days of constant reboots, and have had only one since.

new themes creator is up now from developer.sonyericsson.com.
Its now 3.27

based on what mizzle said, k850 theme, version4.6, should become version4.7 at the end of Q2 - just like C902.

If we could only compare the C902 firmware vs K850 firmware... We could finally find out if K850 firmware is really bullocks...

@reggiele
Did you tried it yet i am anxious to here your take on this reflashing of the firmware please reply with positive or the negatives either way

The result, as fas I can take, is positive - nothing to lose. Strange thing is my phone achieved as high as 980 in Jbenchmark2!!

from this photo it seems that R1EA037 is a downgrade and not an upgrade

@ iva_se

that was a good test man, does look like there is no point paying as of yet like seen as the pic show good evidence not to lol.

good work again

@IVA SE

what iso did you use with it? I always use iso 100 to avoid overburn.

whoah. tried auto with flash and surely is blinding white. 3.7 driver does not calculate light exposure pretty well.
Better use iso 100 until new firmware...
or wait for xs++ 3.2 for modification...

Are you sure the light sensor hole on the back is free from dirt?? Sometimes flashburn results because the sensor hole is not clean...

Posted by iva_se
Yes I am sure

Posted by naveensiva
yes actuaaly there is a lot of flash burn....

next frimware SHOULD FIX THIS LONG BUG...!!!!

Posted by iva_se
naveensiva, When?????

Posted by tai020381
Weird. Mine does not have flashburn and I'm running on R1EA037 with 3.7 camera software.

Posted by Vlad83
Iva_se, while a good test, it's not scientific. Unless you were using the same phone and rolled back the driver back forth, the potential of different variables effecting the outcome is too great when using two different sets of hardware. Can be the flash, the sensor, build date, etc. I have compared my phone's pics to another k850 of the same fw in a similar test and they contained noticeable differences as well, albeit not to the extent of your test but they existed nonetheless.

Posted by tutarchiv
tho most problem is the sensor for the light. Dust make it black an the cam make a pucture with the light.

Posted by Prom1
btw, you cannot rate "flash burn" when only using 1-3 surfaces. You must use a few more to get a consistent result. The finish of a surface is very key to evaluating this, no?

here's my R1EA037

One thing has disapointed me completely with the K850i is the video function.

My friend took a video on his N95 and sent it to me, My K850i cant even play it. (Comes up with video playback failure)

Playback of some video is always out of sync too.

To me this is shocking for a flag ship model.

I know that this has been mentioned before but SE dont seem to care or are not interested in even fixinging it.

I do have R1EA031 which has improved the playback speed a little, but it shouldnt be still out of sync now. The phone has had many updates and been on the market for some time.

Also, someone sent me a picture via picture msg, but i can't view it.. it's all distorted.
Picture's are fine when i copy them to PC via k850 tho..

Hi,
Any major different between R1EA031 and R1EA037 version?
As i noticed on page 1 where these are the only improvement.
- Improved Media Player UI speed.
- Updated Text software revision.
- Connection icon in java apps has been re-added.

The camera quality still the same as before which the Camera: 3.7.

I guess I still stick which current R1EA031 firmware

Posted by aremaboy
The changelog of R1EA037 may be invisible for us to tell, but SE must do something with it. We just don't know. Enjoy the life, enjoy the phone as it is and forget all bugs. Newer Cyber-shots are on the way and accept the fact that K850i is what it is now..

i tried encoding videos in 3gp,the video/audio seems to be in sync using that format

well, if its from N95 then probably the video resolution is 640 x 480, and K850i resolution is only at 320 x240.
That would give you Playback failure.

I tried that once with my ex-phone, k750 - loaded 320 x240 video and it won't play.

Posted by sielski666
so would it be worth it upgrading the firmware then?.

Posted by darrengf
I can get some 640 videos to play on the phone.

The problem is not with the phone but with the encoding in the media player it self.

The coding by SE is poor and this is why there are so many problems with the media function being very slow.

The new firmware have address some issues with video play back and slowness, but its still along way of from being good

Posted by larry 68
@darrengf
Do you have the latest firmware ?
Im on o2 and last time i looked SEUS was telling me their was no update
