@Raiderski one more question. How did you extracted the files? Because I can't find any tool that does this for k850?
On more time, thank you.

Hi Guys,

This is my first post, but i've been browsing the forum for a while (well ever since i got my K850, surprisingly) I've read a few posts but am still a bit confused, wonder if anyone can help me.

As soon as I got the Phone (early december) i debranded it (as soon as it was charged, before ringing to register the new sim etc) to get rid of the Orange (UK) software, using Davinci. It is however, still sim locked to Orange.

Once debranded and activated I managed to use SEUS to get the R1CA037 software which got the camera etc working well. So far I've had no problems (touch wood) other than the phone rebooting itself a couple of times within the first week of getting it.

The battery life seems really poor unless i switch off 3G & Bluetooth which makes it last about a week, so I'm hoping the software update will fix this.

Which software update are we waiting for? SEUS and my phone keep telling me i am up to date even thought all the forums say 038 is out and now i hear a lot of you are waiting for 039?

You will not be able to get 038 on an unbranded phone. 039 is 3 (the network) specific. What we are waiting for is a new firmware to fix the bugs and sluggish software on the phone at present. That will be the new firmware.

I Think people are going to die today... heard at least 3 or ore users who said would dies if this Firmware don't arrive until today...

I think it won't come, and seriously. No until the end of the month.

I think maybe Sony Ericson is facing real problems to get this K850i fixed, due to limitations of hardware aginst software...

But if one day it comes may be a reaaly big improvments... Or the fail of Sony Ericsson that could do a flagship phone work proplely how the box said..

Posted by Ricky D
R1DA038 and R1DA039 are very almost the same firmware and are only for network branded phones the only difference is that the '3' need a little more customisation on their firmware to make it work with all their services.

Your 037 firmware shouldn't have too much in the way of battery problems if you keep the 3g on but only disable bluetooth. Bluetooth is a killer for battery life.

There is a major new firmware to be released. No-one knows what the index of the firmware will be but it's been stated on the website as being released in January. It should fix most if not all of the major problems, but don't expect to not bring up new problems of it's own or not fix some of the less common problems.

That is the latest firmware for unbranded k850i. It isn't possible to upgrade it at the moment, but the new firmware will be available for your phone. =)

What will happen if my unbranded K850 flashed by any firmware (branded) available at DaVinci? Will it be locked or something like can't be used anymore?

I've never seen an 'E' on mine, or a 'G'.

Where in the UK can you get Edge? And is it only available on certain network providers?
Same, I've never seen E or H on mine, only G +/- 3G. I have however had speeds over 384kbps implying an HSDPA connection. I'm on T-Mobile UK with the phone on 038.

Considering that 384Kbps is the peak of a 3G/UMTS download I'd first say you had a tower and all data slots to yourself that day/s. HSDPA should give you a minimum of that or most likely better ... say around 900Kbps or up to 3.6Mbps.

You could be right though.

FOr all those concerned try tethering over USB and do a speed test as its more accurate.

If this new FW won't fix all the problems, I swear this is the last SE I've ever bought!

I second that motion... They have had long enough to sort out the issues...

I have to say I've stopped using mine entirely. I don't think I can really blame Sony Ericsson, because to be fair, the phone does do everything they told me it would do. Even if I don't believe the camera is 5mp, I have no way of checking. I've gone back to my trusty k800i, and soon am getting the N95.

K850i is superior to K810i in all aspects.

Do o2 do an unlimited data plan so i can use my phone as a modem for a pc without being charged £3pmb?

I said I don't think that I can blame SE for the poor k850i =)

The k800i was a good phone in comparison.

----------

o2 don't offer unlimited data plans to any customers other than business or iPhone.

What do you mean you don't believe it's a 5mp camera??? This is the EASIEST thing to prove - just look at the pixel count...

Hm .. i think he means that they upscale the photos via software and then apply a noice-reduction/blur filter so it doesnt really show.
Though this is what i thought when the k800 was released too.. it also has the oil-paint filter.

I appreciate the link to the signed drivers, however I'm unable to find drivers for 3 bluetooth profiles on my Vista machine:

OBEX SyncML Client
SEMC HLA
SEMC Watch Phone < I suspect this BT profile has to do with the MBW=1xx watches so probably won't be used in Windows, however the rest of the drivers that are being installed are standard MS Drivers and the PC Suite doesn't seem to work very well over BT (can't add the phone to the suite even though it's connected in the Vista BT console)

The 3GB bolt-on is only available when you buy a data card from them. To be fair though, the £7.50 bolt-on is good enough for most people. They don't penalise you if you go slightly over the 200mb, they only chase up the people who consistently go over the limit as they are probably using it for large downloads.

A mate of mine has been using the £7.50 bolt-on for ages now with his O2 Orbit and he is always signed in to Messenger and checking e-mails and browsing the web on the train and he's never been penalised so its a decent tariff I think.

That said, the T-Mobile one is far better in that respect!

No new firm but what the heck they dont care for costumers any more i think nokia is the only brand who fix there bugs

What the hell is a bolt-on??? Are we talking about a car or something? Damn language barrier Brits really need to learn how to speak the damn language =D

Posted by The Barron
A bolt on is something the Uk carrier O2 let people add on to their contracts/pay as you go phones, just like extra things they charge you for, but work out cheaper if you buy it as a bundle thing

It's just what the company o2 use to describe add-ons to their contract or PAYG services. Such as message bundles, internet bundles etc.
