New firmware will be out when its out, Id rather them not rush it and get it right this time.

It won't hurt anyone to wait a few more days, it will be here soon enough. And if its bad, you will all be moaning about it lol

I agree with that, but just one question for you all...
What if the new firmware will be a disaster? I mean what if it will be worse that 038 or 029? (I think 037 it's somewhat good but it has it's bugs)

Then I will officially sell my phone and get a N82....

...

Then Shoot myself.

Just checked and no update for unbranded western european K850's yet. Not too bothered really as 037 seems fine to me.
Only thing thats happened to my K850 was that the lens cover didnt open. A shutdown and startup sorted that though.

Thats exactly what i said too, they better fix it once and for all,
if they dont, then we have to wait for few more months to fix the new/remaining bugs...

HOpe they came up with a miracle to come up with an upgrade that will take pictures with qualities like last time a forum user posted their "Final" firmware xD (Fingers crossed)

Hi!

I'm new here in Esato Forum. I own my K850i till december (so its 1 month now ).It's velvet blue, and i love it, it's unbraded, with 037 firm.
I'm really looking forward to that new firmy, cuz i have some problems with it. MP4 videos gets out of sync, the volume bar desappears after zooming in/out on a picture, and yes, it is slooow.
I read this topic since 2 weeks every day, and im getting desapointed with SE. Btw i use SE phones since 2005 (K750) and i will use it in the future.

Cheers!

PS: Sorry if my english is bad.

I think it is best to anticipate the FW is coming out on Jan 31st. Just to be safe, you know.... so we don't get disappointed every passing day of January....

@shawon

We have the same problem with the volume bar missing...

I'm bored waiting for it!
When I saw this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TsFiXsNtyI0 I just lost my patience.
The Media Player now opens on Pictures selection (as it should on K model) and the picture slide-in feature is added

You can't adjust the volume anymore.

this is what I observed I described the symptoms here and I found out it is a common problem on 037FW

http://www.esato.com/board/viewtopic.php?topic=162999

I tested two K850 and revealed the bugs concerning the volume adjustments

Posted by darrengf

it works fine for me on Vista Ultimate x64....
Just go to the "Drivers" folder in the SEUS install folder and extract the AMD64-drivers.

When asked, select these drivers and it installs just fine

Hi guys, could you please describe how I can find the 64-bit drivers in more details? I just can't find any drivers for that. Thanks! :>

ehm, 038 has never been available for the unbranned k850....

After installing the SE PC Suite v3.1 and rebooting, the drivers were automatically found upon plugging in the phone to the computer. I'm assuming it's using the drivers in C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Sony Ericsson\\Sony Ericsson PC Suite\\Drivers\\amd64 since the application install adds them to available drivers to auto-install.

Hey guys,

Another bug to add to the list on 037.

Set your brightness level to anything under 100%.

Go to standby, and fire up the camera. Exit the camera.

You will see that the original brightness settings are not conserved. Go into your options and move the bars higher or lower and you will see the difference.

Yes, that problem has been fixed.

However, ive noticed the battery life is now worse than before.

I charged it fully this time yesterday. I made about 10 mins of calls in that time, sent about 5 texts.

in less than 24 hours, my battery has gone from 100% to 21%.

Thats awful

I don't have it on my 037 unbranded ADRIATIC. I keep the brightness to 60% since I bought my phone and it stays that way after I use the camera.

Yes, this is a known bug, just see the first page, and the list of bugs at the 038 firmware.

Interesting. Happened to both my K850i's - blue one on NORDIC, green one on APAC.

On mine it does and I have the same version and customization like yours.
I think by standby @obentou means that the phone is without the keys locked.

I rhink only a handful know whit the new firmwar will bring excactly. The rest of us can just speculate. But one might out of shere logic be able to figure out a few things that it will bring.

so no for 038 for unbranded phones yet.. hope the new one comes out for all

Posted by m0m4nq
Argh, the new firmware is making my phone even worse.

Now it will just randomly turn off if i havent used it for a while. Not good considering i use my phone as an alarm for the mornings. This never used to happen with my 029 firmware.

Anyone else have that problem?

guys I cant seem to increase the volume on my 038 fw, the bars raise but i cant get it to be louder, but the battery life sucks bad

Posted by Terminatorak
Since updating to 038 my K850i also restarts randomly, usually when i am browsing through media and i change auto rotate settings. SE should value their customers by working harder on the firmwares. How could the people testing for bugs not picked some of these up? And btw the infamous 'update in january' message isn't very convincing and isn't looking too promising either...

Mines never done that.

Apart from the bugs that virtually everybody seems to have (terrible battery & poor camera) then I haven't noticed any other bugs at all on my phone (I'm on 038).

Still can't wait for the new f/w though cause I'm gettign very annoyed with the shocking battery life now.

My camera is ok but battery life is terrible..

thank god I didn't update to RDA038(don't even know if it's available to me), reading all the reactions about this 038 firmware doesn't even want to make me go update it. I'm fine with the 037 version on my phone, no problems here I guess. yeah well sometimes my volume doesn't work anymore. I'll just wait until they release this new version.

and btw I'm over in holland on KPN Network, don't know if 038 is available.

Here are some photo's made with K850i 037 Generic ADRIATIC AUTO mode.
I can't see pink artifacts on either. I agree that the picture quality could be improved but I still don't know why the pink artifacts don't appear here. Maybe it's not the sensor's fault, it could be the JPEG compression algorithm in my oppinion.

This is what we call ''Chromatic Abberation''
A purple/pink effect due to bad sensor and good lighting
As it's a hardware issue,it can be whoever corrected by software by ''warming or cooling'' colors or even adjust Hue,if we can do it with paint shop pro or CS3 SE can do it in the next FW without any problems....

Posted by The Barron
Come on SE, make everyone happy and release this firmware very very soon

Posted by fullforce
Jupp this phone has a larger potential then the f***ing firmware, that exists now, allowe it to have.
Don't no why but i doubt that we will see any new firmware this month. But miracles can happen!

Still nothing here...india 037

Hope they release is by tom. .. I am waiting nearly for a week...checking FOTA every 4 hours...

Ok until then i have few question...

How much is jvm heap memory or say allotted memory space for apps...
I see a little improvement in app's handling in K850 but not up to the mark of multitasking...
And sometimes when i use operamini4 and hacked version at the same time...it restarts after a few hours of usage of both..
And also my phone gets restarted if i type more like in this reply space...
Any idea guys?

I don't know, it's not all bad! Certainly on mine it's made a vast difference - hardly any random reboots and it no longer crashes almost every time I try to access Gmail, etc. Definitely a much better version from my POV but if you're problem free with 037 then sensible to just stick with it!

Turning the phone off shouldn't make any difference for the alarm since it should power it back on to sound off the alarm. If it doesn't than the phone has not just turned off but rather crashed. Give it a try - set an alarm for 30 min from now and if the phone does its random shut down, see if powers back on to sound off the alarm. Not saying that it should power off on its own but at least if it is doing that and the alarm is still working you don't have to worry about that. Of course missing phone calls would be very annoying if your phone turned OFF and you didn't know...
