Guys what issues are remaining to be solved?

Well i'm on firmware -37 and i have the "operation failed"-problem so i'd say that there more issues then just trimming the camera in the old firmware! But i do hope that the camera gets better and that it's possible to make the camera able to get better shots even if you're not holding it perfectly super still!

Yes you allready told us that
But there are several that have the "operation failed-issue" i just pointed that out.

Alot of people on hear are saying that they are getting java applications error or failures.

If you are getting these then the only way round this is to complete flash the phone by going back to a local SE service center.

The SEUS doesnt update all the phone only parts of it (What ever SE has changed), If you are already getting a failure like this, SEUS doesnt see this error and so it will still be there after updating.

Alot of the Java problems started in R1CA029 due to a script error, R1CA037 did resolve most of the script error.

However if you updated from R1CA029 and went to R1CA037 and had the original fault, then the fault will always follow the phone

Hope this makes sense

And what about the "aplication uses too much memory" error, i dont ever get the operation failed error but this memory error always show when i try to download the modules of the photomate.... How to solve it?

R1CA037

Did you have R1CA029 first and then updated to R1CA037?

Twice now the phone has come up with a screen saying i have insufficient memory and asks me to delete something, I didnt have this before the last firmware update, why does it happen and is it a bug ?

Yep!

Posted by darrengf
Thats you problem then.

If you have updated R1CA029 to R1CA037 the error follows you.

Even using SEUS to update to R1DA038 doesnt norm resolve the issue.

Sorry but your phone has to be flashed with a brand new firmware which stops the errors happening.

R1CA029 has a Java script error in the firmware, If you had java problems with this firmware and then updated to R1CA037 the fault follows.

Posted by pimp123
hi, has anybody managed to upgrade a 3uk branded phone from R1CA029 yet? I tried asking 3 when we weill get a firmware update but the guy didnt understand, put me on hold for ages, and said "the software update will be avaliable when the manufacturer releases it". well they obviously did ages ago as most people have it. ive tried running SEUS on the phone and my pc but no update

Well i didn't have the operation failed issue when i was on -29 but i got it when i flashed to -37. So that kind of contradicts what you say, or?

And if SE think should write the new firmware so that it takes care of the java problem. I mean it can't be news for SE. So i think they write the new -38 firmware so it overwrites any "old" problems with java apps.

I keep seeing a lot of people mention theres no standby clock. When the phone is in standby press the volume buttons on the side and it shows a white screen with the time on it. Is that not what your after or are you wanting something thats on 24/7 and drains the battery?

Thats the problems, Lots of people either had Java problems in R1CA029 Like I did and in the end the phone refused to even switch on (Boot script error)

However lots of people didnt know that they didnt have java errors until they updated to R1CA037, which then brought up the error.

My first 2 phones had R1CA029 on and both were sent back faulty as they stopped booting, the 2nd 2 phones were sent with R1CA037 already pre built and so I never had again any Java problems as the phones were never pre installed with R1CA029.
My 5th phone came with R1CA037 but i updated to R1DA038 and again i dont have any java issues at all.

I can only assume that the fault stems from R1CA029, which on the SE forums there are lots of faults with Java with this image. This is why R1CA037 was original released amongst a couple of other things.

*** This is also the current list of Networks that have approved R1DA038 and I beleive currenlty on SEUS as well.

Yes,you are definately in the same situation with wat i encountered....same boat,same problem....before upgrade to 037,all the app are "use-able",since upgrade,become "java-less"...

so, how do we fix the APPLICATION FAILED problem?

Glad to see the prob with viewing pics and not being able to get back to see them once it had gone onto screen saver has been solved!

But I'm getting annoyed that the camera noise is still there when phone is on silent!!! Actually it's bloody annoying...
Are there any thoughts as to whether it'll be removed in future?

Another funny thing with BestPic...

After taking a pic with BestPic I didn't save... therefore the main pic automaticaly saves.

When I view this photo and zoom in, as I zoom I can see it zooming in normally.. but when I stop zooming a different image is displayed (it's a different pic from the original 9 pic sequence I think)! Make sense? very strange.

This also happens sometimes when browsing photos taken with Bestpic. When you first move to an image one thing is displayed, but when the normal 'redraw' occurs a different image appears from the original sequence??!!

At least I've had less crashes on version 37 when using Bestpic.

What people are looking for is the same functionality which was present in the K750 and K790/k800. Which is to have the clock showing with no backlight - just contrast light letters on the black background. This feature was removed in the w810 and there was a Huge outcry against removing it since it's been present as far back as the T68 phone... Someone mentioned that the screen on the K850 is different than the K800 although I'm not sure since both of them handle direct sun light very well which made me think that they are both transflexive LCD which typically can use direct light for contrast.

I know what you mean, but the true is that the display of the K850i is really diferent of my old k800i... It's seemns more darker... Example if you compare both you can see that the k800i have more brightness, if you put a white theme or photografh you can notice that, but at the same time K850i LCD have more contrast i think... you can notice using a dark photo or theme... I think that maybe the glass cover of the K850i have some kind of layer that makes it a little brown or darker... You can notice that in the standby clock of the k850i the background is a little yelow and K800i is 100% white...

I just updated to the R1DA038 firmware from SEUS but i am having a problem.

When i load up 'Media' it says 'loading %' when it gets to 11% it says 'indexing of files failed due to lack of memory. delete files to make room' so i delete some files and i'm left with 35MB free on my phone and 350MB free on my 2GB memory card but when i turn the phone off and try again the same thing happens.

I never had this problem with R1DA037.
Has anyone else had this problem and know how to fix it?
Or how to downgrade back to R1DA037?
BTW I have the blue K850 from O2 UK

Thanks,
Gupster.

This may sound strange, but have you done a master reset?

For some reason the R1DA038 doesnt seem to kick in correctly until you do.

Its worth a try any way

A question to the people with FW R1DA038, who have problems with the battery:

Do they have problem also have problems with charging the phone and which provider branding they have?

Because, I have T-Mobile-Int and I can diagnose no kind of this problems.

Maybe this is not a FW-Problem, but a Provider-FW problem from one provider?

Whats your opinion?

things I've noticed with 038....
the indexing failed message appeared twice, I did nout and it seems ok now.
Megabass.... Suddenly it's too much - any tune with anymuch bass in it seems to be overloading the phone, even at low volumes
My guess is the same as before; they put cheaper components in for music and so had to turn down the megabass on earlier firmwares but when that attracted complaints they put it back again... not a prob really as I can alter with manual eq.

Camera... dunno if it's because I'm crap at pics, but I'm getting the opposite of the dark photo prob... if I take a pic of a person up front then it blanks them out too much... I don't like flash anyway so not much of a prob - it'd be nice to be able to take pics with the white light like old phones

Posted by fullforce
Anybody else with the new firmware have noticed too strong megabass??

I can safely say the camera is working properly now. Don't seem to be getting dark pics at all now. They're still not very good pictures though but I think thats just because I'm useless at taking photos.....

As for the Mega Bass. Never tried it on 037 but on 038, yes it is too much, I've just played a song on farely low volume and put Mega Bass on and it just went all distorted and crackly.

Posted by br@dley
Megabass has been too strong since 29 for me (distortion), and is the same using 37.

Media is very, very slow on mine and I've only got 57 tracks on.

reading the recent posts.... it doesn't seem that K850 is not getting a lot better or any "safer" to be owned yet? how long should I wait? any advice?

Posted by darrengf
My 5th K850i is 100% better than my prev 4. I have R1DA038 and havnt had many problems with it at present.

I have no problems with the camera and dark shots now, altho some shots could be better.

Software could still be faster in the media menu, but the other menus are now starting to speed up

I have noticed that the battery does seem to go down slightly quicker, i get 2.5 days instead of my 3 i used to get, but no doubt this will be fixed in the next update.

I have 2 photos that are still corrupt and im still alittle disapointed that some mp4s dont play correctly (3-6 seconds out of sync with sound)

But its an improvement for me than the last 2 firmwares

Nope, i've checked SEUS yesterday for the last time , gave up on it.
I dont think its coming, for whatever reason.. i guess lets wait for firmware 04x.
Another thing i wanted to say: i remember some people believing that SE was reading ESATO, and that they couldnt post because everyone would just spam questions.. but i think when they do stuff like this (not releasing 038 for unbranded phones) they should TELL us WHY (because i'm sure they got a reason for not releasing it).

Wel mayby the -38 firmware isn't that good so it's for the best that we with unbranded phones won't get it?!
But i know me- out of curiousity i can't say away from the new firmware. But i want my java to work! i hope it doesn't mess up the megabass though as the music player is as important to me as the camera. But i will play hardball and demand that all the stuff they put in the phone should work at least properly, otherwise it's a faulty device and they have to fox it, give me a new one or give my cash back...i really hope it won't come to the latter! I mean they shouldn't get to many strikes to get it (fairly) right!

Posted by Rookwise
Davinciteam have R1DA038 available for 19 network providers but not a generic version.
037 is now available on there for unbranded handsets though.

Probably due to the music you listen too

eg. Kanya West distorts badly for me using Megabass. I now use the Bass setting.

On my K750i Megabass worked well even for really heavy bass music.

Weird thing.. anyone experienced this?

I flashed my phone with DaVinci's HK CUSTOM FW 038,
and since doing so I've lost some screen estate.
3.5mm on the vertical sides and around 1.8mm on both horizontal sides

Weird huh?

Let us know if anyones experienced this!

You are Totaly right Duran, I prefer to know even the worse notice, but at least know andhave a clue of what happend, Just a matter of burocatic problens or no respect to the consumer... Because shouldn't be hard to get this information and put on some site....

I Hope that they realese for unbranded phones the new one that would come in the end of January, If there will come... I'm really disapointed to Sony Ericsson as a costumer since the old T68i on the early's 2002...

I had the same problem when i updated my phone to R1DA038.

Kept coming up with insufficient memory to index the files every time i tried to access my music/photos or videos via the media player.

It seems to have been resolved after i took the battery, sim, and memory card out for about 20 mins.

Now the new firmware seems to be quite good, however this is how the phone SHOULD have been when we all first got the phone.

oh well...

Maybe this is how the phone should have been.... but wouyld you have preferred to wait another 4 months for the phone?
... it's probably quicker this way as instead of releasing to a small beta test group, you have millions of people testing and giving feedback so you get to know the problems very quickly and so can work on a fix.
They just have to hope their reputation can ride the storm until the issues are resolved... which I'm sure it will.
