Accessing Firmware Information

To find out which firmware revision your phone currently has installed, select Menu > Settings > General > Update service > Software version. For more detailed software versioning information, perform the following:

Follow those instructions to get to the service menu.

Lets hope SE realise that this firmware has a battery drain issue and sort it in the next firmware!

But that just tells me what version of the software I've got. It doesn't take me to any menu where I can adjust any settings. Pressing that combination of buttons doesn't do a thing either.

Go to the Service menu and then choose "Service settings" and "Charging off", if it's turned off.

Charged my phone to full power (although it always reports 99%, never goes to 100%) just before I went to bed (about 12.30am) and when I woke up this morning (about 6.15am) the battery was down to 84%.

I cannot believe you can lose that much power when the phone is idle! I am also sure that it never did this prior to the 038 update!

mine does this and its still on 037 SW. this is my forth handset (fauly exchanges) and the other three had alot better battery life then this one.

go to your local workshop and they will use "EMMA"..(it can only be done from your workshop....its called DPY flashing...the best way to uppdate your phones

Ooooh! A new menu!! Looks interesting!

I daren't press anything though. Discharge Flash? What does that do?!

EDIT - Is 038 available on 3 yet?

Discharge the flash, discharges the flash funnily enough. Won't do any harm but just releases the charge from the capacitors by making the flash go off. You needn't worry too much about causing any damage to your phone by looking through your service menu. There aren't many things you can touch. It's there for info and testing more than anything else. Not sure what the Java Developer Mode does but it's not hurt my phone by turning it on then off.

I just checked it now (2pm) and it is down to 80% from this morning (when I checked at 6.15am). Thats more like what I'd expect.

Posted by toxicredcat
Battery life on 038 sounds terrible, might not upgrade to it if its like what people have said. I'm 037 and my battery goes down 5% every 12 hours with little usage.

Has anyone experienced any problems with the volume of the other persons voice during a call?? Quite often the person im speaking to is so quiet I can hardly hear them, then the next second they're full vloume.

I have the earpiece volume up to the max...

Cheers

I have the APAC-ANZ version and no R1DA038 update for me yet.

Like many have mentioned, I do have battery issues on R1CA037 when my phone is in 3G mode (mostly due to the fact that I do not get a 3G signal all the time). However, if I switch to 'GSM only', my battery lasts a good 3 days including me using it for a talk time of about 4-5 hours through the 3 days.

I think that SE will release final fixed update for unbranded phones ... They want to upload on server firmware that will release soon so they thought to not upload R1DA038 ... I think so ... But i may be wrong ...

I saw on davinci team that the firmwares they have are divided by colour of the phone...

http://www1.davinciteam.com/p[....]tails_K850i_R1CA037_CID52.html

Ass I Can see the majority that have your K850i updateds are branded or blue ones....

What i saying make any sense?

Yes, the language don't changes nothing...

Heres how my battery has done lately.

I let it completely die on Tuesday and then gave it a 12 hour charge. I took it off at 7am Wednesday and since then I have sent about 50 texts, made 7 mins of calls, spent about 10 minutes on WAP, taken about 12-15 photos and done a master reset. I have had my phone turned off overnight last night, and the battery is down to 12% already.

Check the customization of the firmware. Mine says 'APAC-ANZ' which I think stands for Asia Pacific And China - Australia New Zealand.

Posted by sudhakarvytl
any one updated there phone on this customization 1204-0634 R3A
1200-5441 R1CA029 S-ASIAN-LEVAN , when ever i try to update the phone through SEUS its says ur software is uptodate . mine is in 29 firmware only. is this branded or unbranded phone , i am from india. i can use any network sim card in this phone.

Posted by 1889
@ toxicredcat

Yes, thats on 038 firmware.

Posted by baste07
is there a new FW out for SE Asia?

Posted by Krzysiecw
I think there will be no more release of R1DA038 ... Because we are waiting too long for it on unbranded phones ... They will release final update at the and of January i think ...

1) update your Adobe Flash Player on Internet Explorer [not Opera, Firefox, etc]

2) go to: ?:\\WINDOWS\\system32\\Macromed\\Flash or ?:\\WINNT\\system32\\Macromed\\Flash and execute 'FlashUtil9e.exe'.

3) unload windowblinds

4) reinstall SEUS

Hmm, I suppose it makes sense to release a temporary fix for phones branded to networks, since they do make up the majority of the market... which I am guessing.

I seriously don't agree with SE to release a humongous update all at once unless it is THOROUGHLY tested and almost bug-free... at least to the point where it is usable without its users screaming and crying for fixes

iv heard that k850 standby clock doesnt work since its in TFT technology.....!!!
ok fine...let me point it out this way.
i think N95 also hv the same screen(TFT)...bt they offer standby clock in usual way and doesnt need to press buttons to to see the time.

this pic was taken by my k850(with flash) n this is all about nokia's beautiful colored standby clock.

why SE ppl cant do lik dat???

Posted by Ricky D
The N95 does offer the standby clock permenantly it also offers the battery life of ordinary Zinc Carbon batteries compared to Duracell bunnies

...'lasts longer, much longer'

Hey, the matter of Flash Sync... that many people complaining until now even 038 firmware...

Mine is unbranded 037, even first one 029, I never had any experience about flash sync, it means I never see the black photo with my K850 at all kind of environment.
But only when I block light sensor which locate just under flash, I can make same picture like many people said.

So, is there any differencies between unbranded and branded firmware? Also I didn't get 038 firmware yet, but in my case, I don't even need that one because I never had something wrong with my phone yet, of course there is still dozens of bugs but it doesn't bother me...

Anybody idea about it?

Posted by obentou
Cell phones can have a standby clock if they have TFT screens. Having a TFD screen has nothing to do with it. It's just the nature of the LCD that the K850i has which makes the standby clock "invisible".

Posted by baste07
yeah no prob with the 037, only hoping that the new firmware would give better camera quality

Posted by fullforce
Well i'm on firmware -37 and i have the "operation failed"-problem so i'd say that there more issues then just trimming the camera in the old firmware! But i do hope that the camera gets better and that it's possible to make the camera able to get better shots even if you're not holding it perfectly super still!

i have 037 and have no major issues

Posted by naveensiva
when wil the new firmware hit SEUS??

Posted by baste07
for some it has been out for quite some time now.. pero for other regions.. or phone types, not yet

I have just flashed my K850 with 038 firmware from Da Vinci Team. I used the Vodafone branded firmware on my unlocked/unbranded phone as I'm on vodafone in the UK and the unbranded firmware would not connect to Vodafone live or Vodafone Mymail. It seems there are some certificates on a voda handset that it needs to work! Anyway new firmware seems OK. No issues yet but if anyone has any questions about 038 let me know and I will test it on the phone and let you know.

strange...i had mine k850 by my local workshop and should DPY flash it to 038, (they use EMMA-server)...but the phone stop at 59% every time ????

then i tried SEUS, but SEUS tell me that i allready have the latest firmware 037 ????? anyone know how to get 038 with SEUS..(have of course a 100% unlocked/unbranded k850)

thanks

Posted by aremaboy
@plankgatan, What do you mean by stopping at 59%?

Funny, I did the same with my K850. Wanna know why? Because the firmware files downloaded with EMMA have 2-3 parts and the K850's first part is 59% of the file size. There was also a problem with the 2nd part, so I didn't succeed with me either.

Oh, and you can't DPY flash K850 or any other non-smart phones for that matter. Only a selected amount of smart phones can be DPY flashed.
