OK, I try again to put up an forum for all of us big favorite cellphone, Sony Ericsson T300/T310. And Now I am adding the newest in this family. The SONY ERICSSON T230. Why I am adding is, that those 3 phones is almost the same type of phones. The difference is about Screen, IrDa and Polyfonic channels. Okey, now I do add SONY ERICSSON T290i into this thread. So you new users of this phone, can ge in here to ask question. I do hope this thread will live again...

T300 Has Irda, 24 channels polyfonic signals, and 256 STN-screen.
T310 Has IrDa, 32 channels Polyfonic signals, and 256 STN-screen.
T230 hasn't IrDa, It has 32 channels polyfonic signals, and 4096 STN-screen.
T290i is almost the same as T230 but has Speakerphone, the other does not have that. Otherways its the same phone...

Despite that they are the same.

Here you can tell us about tricks, tips and perhaps what these phones should have to become even better.

Jerry

Hi,
how can we see the battery's status on the t300 with the button on the side?
A parameter to change?

Posted by dragontrumpetare
Hi...it seems like that feature isn't avaible on the T300. I do really missed that feature...

Hi !

I've just one question for this phone: is the SMS alert polyphonic or not ?

And can you hear the SMS alert or is it like the t68i ?

Thank you for this answer !

Posted by abedh
Its not PolyPhonic, and its like the T68i...don't ask me why!

Posted by FooFoo
Ok thank you... and does it exist a program to transfer contacts (names, numbers, e-mails...) from Outlook to T300 ? I've read on SonyEricsson Website that Sony Ericsson Communcations Suite 1.5.1 only works with t68

Posted by Inq8us
Sony Ericsson doesn't have a communication suite yet for the T300 to allow you to sync up your Outlook contacts with the phone. However, someone mentioned in another post that you can just export your contacts individually from Outlook and send those contacts individually to the phone via IR. It is more tedious and still doesn't have a sync feature, but it beats typing it out with the numbers.

If you have infered on your computer you can go to explorer and left click on an item and go to "send to" on the pop up menu and select "infered recipiant". Midi files, theams, games(I think) and graphics can also be sent like this.

What's the prize of the phone in your countrys?? In Greece just came out 328 euros with the camera

Posted by Sam79
I sweden it cost about 210 - 230 euro without the camera

Hi All,
Just got my T300 and busy testing it. Does anyone know what's the latest firmware? I've checked mine and it stated R1B***. Too bad we can't free up the T300 memories for the existing ringtones and picture. I was surprise to find out that the first time I beam a midi file to my phone it stated there my curren memory is 498 kb. Seems that SE has used up more that 500 kb for their predefined pictures and ringtones. Also, does any of you guys use an imageware (casing) for the T300? I have one ICT-14 but it was under Ericsson. SE stated it can be use for T300 and I tried it but just can't fit well. Any suggestion?

U guys are lucky. In Malaysia, it is 368 Euros for the phone and the camera. The phone alone is about 245 Euros.....

Had mine upgraded to R1D yesterday in Greece right after I bought it. Its screen is definitely brighter than that of my T68i but I am furious for being unable to erase the childish preinstalled pics. How come noone has mentioned that it can only hold 250 entries in the phone memory?

Posted by alex
I got some issues here. See, today I continue testing my T300 and found out the following:
1. Once you exit using GPRS, there is no indication on the data count used.
2. Upon turning on the phone, the User Greeting is basically a background compared to T68i was the liquid SE screensaver type.
Do you guys face this issues? Or maybe I need to upgrade the firmware?

Posted by haki
With R1D the same happens and I am happy because you can exit GPRS and reenter very quickly which you cannot do with the T68i because you have to wait until the stupid data amount report arrives!

Posted by racingboy
hi

is the t300 a good phone? and why did you guys bought it? i'm thinking of getting one, but i'm not sure.

greetzzz

Posted by haki
What makes this phone VERY special is its price when you buy it with the camera. It is also very similar to the T68i which continues to be one of the best GSM phones worldwide. It is loaded with features and since most of the hardware and software come from the T68, they are well tested and should not break down (like ...you know which brand!!).

Posted by racingboy
thanks for quick reply,
Are the poliphonic tones loud? or not? is it as easy to use as the t68? i had a t68i, but i've sold it.

greetzzz

Posted by haki
The menu is identical to the one of the T68i. The poly sounds are quite loud (not very loud) but produce nice high notes (treble) which makes them very audible in noisy places and in pockets.

Posted by oxin_Rain
in greece 264 without the camera at germanos 1

Posted by nookiehunter
how big is it? im thinkin bout getting one... does the poly tones sound good? comparable to samsung's? i've got a contra megamix poly tone that i want to use... it rocks...

hello. does tat mean t300 has no battery indicator on e main screen??

Posted by buggy
wat type of battery is it use? same as t68i using lithum polymer?

Posted by mamb0
Yes the polyphonics ringtone are very good! It rocks! Regarding about the size, it is quite the same as t68i just that it looks big as it does not have a shape.

Posted by mattan
nookiehunter,

I'm not sure which Samsung you're referring to but the phones that I know of only have 16 'voices', whereas the T300 has 24 voices. This produces a more realistic-sounding ringtone.

buggy,

The T300 certainly does have the battery indicator on-screen. And as far as the battery type goes, it's a Li-Polymer Battery BST-22 (650 mAh, li-ion).

The remaining talk time and remaining standby time have gone from the status menu activated from the volume slider on t200 and t300

Posted by haki
The battery of the T300 is actually 700mah. It is probably made of the same elements as the ones of the T68 but these elements are molded to a slightly different shape. This is the major advantage that the LiPol materials provide.

Posted by oxin_Rain
the latest software for t300 is r1d ???? and has anyone find something to free up some memory with r1d version!

Posted by volvoman
I only have 3 probs with this phone the battery time left in the status menu the little green light which has been a feature of all Ericsson phones and the memory on this phone is crap compared with the T68i which for a phone with downloadable games and poly tones is bit of a bad thing come on Ericsson please do something about this please

Posted by sprinkles
hey, regarding the liquid screensaver cant sum 1 with a t68i somehow get it off the phone 4 t300s to download?

Posted by dragontrumpetare
Well...if you update the SW you will get more memory free to use. If you have the old SW, you only have between 425 - 475kb something.

Ok, last try to get an answer:

I got a really big problem today. A friend of mine sended 3 pics by IrDA of his Brick 7650. But as i tried to have a look at the pics in the picture browser they all appeared as red crosses, surrounded by a black frame (just as the NOPIC symbol in Internet Explorer). I tried to delete them but without success. My phone hanged up and i had to remove the batterie to reboot it. Then i've gone to the picture browser once again just to notice that the pictures where no more visible in the browser. But the shocking look on my memory told me: They must be still somewhere on the phone!!! I lost about 90k of memory, so please someone tell me how to remove them!!!

And another question: My service-provider changed the logo of the wap-menu. Is there any way to replace it with the original???

Posted by bhang
I bought my t300 in the US for 150$ usd with a 50$ & camera rebate, so it cost me 100us with the camera.

I like the polytones but with any background noise at all I cant hear them very well

I have r1c and I have deleted some predefined stuff and I think it is actualy gone, I would think the master reset would reset everything from some kinda flashrom image, so deleting would be deleting not just hiding.
the idea that "deleting just hides the stuff" is stoopid?!?

why have a delete option if it didnt delete the stuff?

I am new to to SE 'sets so I could be wrong but it just makes good sense. IMOP

Dragon! I send 4 help ebody here, is this topic still in use? Pls write to topR520

Posted by Bloodwarrior
Nobody does listen to me *crying* No, as i said the phone asks me if I really want to delet the files. When I press yes the phone crashes and i have to reboot it by removing the bat.

Nothing with "deleted and hided"

Posted by dragontrumpetare
Bloody Warrior: Do a master reset. That should be the trick

True. The product brochure incorrectly states that the battery is 650mAh, when it is really 3.6 V, 700mAh.

Also, interestingly, the battery says "Made in Japan. Finished in Hungary."

Hi all. Some questions: ok, reset-all works but the total free space available is less than 875 kb. Is there some trick to delete also predefined images and mms. It could free a lot of space. And lot of predefined image are very bad ;-). Second question: how can i have latest firmware version and how can i use it? Thanks a lot

Posted by dragontrumpetare
@veon18

I had that problem. I guess its a bug in that SW what it comes to the phonebook.

@Drfell

Yep you right I am from Sweden. I don't know how much you can buy the R520m here in sweden... But I saw a price on nearly 1 800 SEK. Don't know how much it is in EURO.
