Payment dispute with drich290195

I did not want to do this as drich290195 seems to be a good guy, he has good feedback on here and seems to be a guy that can be trusted, but I was mistaken.

A while back I was selling my black Nokia 8800. drich290195 offered me his SE 990i as a trade which I accepted. We agreed that we would send both phones at the same time, we agreed when to do this and I went off to the post office with my phone. The 8800 arrived with him next day but the 990 did not. I contacted him he said that he had not gotten round to sending it and his sister would send it that day. His sister apparently sent the phone but not recorded or special delivery and surprise surprise it goes missing.

I am a reasonable guy so I left it for a while, I went on holiday expecting the phone to be waiting for me when I got home. I contacted him before I went on holiday and said that if the phone had not arrived by the time I got home I would either want payment for the 8800 or the phone back, he agreed and apologized.

I get home and the phone has not arrived, I contact him asking for my money or phone, I get no reply. I leave it another day and try again. No reply, I am starting to get angry at this point, I told him I would start this thread, if he did not at least let me know what is going on, he did not so here I am with no 990, no 8800 and no cash.

So if drich290195 offers you a phone or cash I would tell him where to go.

drich290195 if you are reading this and there is a legitimate reason for you not getting in touch let me know and we can set the record straight.

Kai

I've met up with drich twice and he's sound as a pound mate.

There must be a serious reason for this. He hasn't been on MSN for over a month (checked msn+). I know he was joining the army soon. Maybe he got called up or something

Like i say mate, there must be a proper reason for this.

I unfortunatly also had/have a dispute with drich290195 over a phone which he claims Royal Mail lost. Alright it was only a 7110, but it was the reason I traded. When it didn't turn up he claimed it was sent and royal mail had lost it, he said he would claim the compensation and send this - guess what, I'm still waiting.
I offered to forget this amount as part of a deal for his w810i recently - then he disappeared.

im glad i didnt deal with him now as he wanted my n95 but wanted me to send first lucky break

This is every buyers nightmare really, 99% of the people who trade on here are genuine, but if your dealing with an unknown, i always ask for lots of info, addresses, tel numbers etc, and i contact on MSN guys who have previously traded with them for their opinion.

This is exactly what happened to me, now i have no hope of getting my phone or money.

If he's joining the Army, he'll be having a security check done currently. If you were to go to the Police with a complaint and they were to take it up it will show up on his clearance and could raise a few awkward questions for him. I'm sure that he wouldn't want this and may come out of the woodwork to sort you out. My complaint wouldn't carry as much weight as it was only an old 7110, but yours must be worth well over £100?

Just an idea

Come on theres no need for that. You people dont know whats happened, maybe the worst possible has.... Stop slagging the guy off.

Like i've said before, i know him personally. I've text him asking where he is etc lets just see if we get a reply.

Posted by abbafan1972
OP - Obviously you have his address as you sent the phone, so are you able to pay him a visit?

Posted by spikeyjac
Danny did you get a reply?

Posted by Kaiser_Man
I am still sure something has happened, I do have his address but I don't want it to come to me driving up, I would like to know if he does reply to your text.

you folks are good, i vote for calling the Police.

unless your related, some good mate or his girlfriend you really should avoid defending people you dont know, as i dont know any of the people involved here i'll just put it out there....2 people on Esato, same experience and the guy had the balls to insist on the other party posting the item 1st?...folks, it doesnt sound good at all. so i vote you call the Police and worry about feeling bad about it later.....and anyone defending this chap, a good samaritan is just as guilty as the person doing the crime when they're found out to be fraudulent, so watch who you stick you neck out for and stop trying to deter people from making sensible choices as from what i've read you just sound like your in on it....replies will tell the whole truth, absent responses will speak fo themselves.

hope you folks get your phones or money back.

Jesus christ, how many times must i say this.

I've met with the guy 3 times, delt with him over 5, known him over a year....

The only reason this could have happened must be one of a serious nature.

The Police isn't the answer.

Thats my opinion as a mate of the 'criminal'

I'm sure there are plenty of people that reckoned Robert Maxwell was a nice straight up guy, and would do no wrong.

Tell you what then Danny... If he's a mate do the right thing and try and sort it out, god forbid something is wrong with him, but as a mate is it not your duty to find out?

A text isn't sufficient in trying to sort it out, phone him, write him a letter, go see him, send a telegram, there are numerous ways...

let's try and help Kai out shall we? he's concerned as to where his phone is, as would I be.

Posted by Dogmann
@..:/Ğanny:..

What ever your opinion of him is the facts speak for them selves this thread is now 10 days old. The 8800 was sent before before the OP went on Holiday and returned. Just how long do you think is reasonable for it to take especially as he has already received the other phone to take a P990 to a post office and send it?

Even if something has happened which lets hope it hasn't it only takes a couple of minutes to communicate some information of the situation.

Just what would you be saying if it was you that now had no 8800, no P990 no money and worse of all no communication to explain what was happening? As we are obviously talking about weeks not days here.

Marc

Just phoned both the numbers i have for dave (one a Orange Contract, one a 3 PAYG)
One Said number currently out of use, one said not recognized...

Also checked my MSN+ which showed he was last online on the 25/09/2007. His MSN name was 'Dave: 2007 the worst year of my life'

I dont have his address anymore, unless its stored on the SatNav.

I never had his landline.

Any other idea's ?

Would it not be a good idea to call the police, to establish if he is conning the guys who have dealt with him, but not received their goods or money, or if there is a genuine reason for him "disappearing". In my experience, it's not a good sign when you can't get hold of the person you dealt with through the numbers they provided. Hope it gets resolved quickly guys.

If he were to come on esato and clear it up,ould'nt that be the best way?

Posted by Kaiser_Man
I would love for him to show up on here and clear everything up, I really do not want to get the police involved, besides the police would not want anything to do with it.

I guess I am going to have to just write off the expense.

Posted by batesie
if its less than 50 miles away i would have visited the address i sent it too...

knock on the door, explain the issue to what'll probably be his mum and ask them "whatchagunnadoaboutit?"

Posted by decoy7
i dont make 'mates' easy, i dont know about you all, but anyone i've met online and talk to in MSN is just an online buddy at best, they aint about to be the best man at my wedding so i'd take any defence of another who has now disappeared with phones and money as suspect.

and that's not to point the finger at Danny, that's just to put some confidence in the person who's lost their phone/money through trust of a user on this site, they're not all what they seem even though they have a good relationship with others, doesn't stop them taking the pi$$ out of you.

gather all the evidence you can, get the numbers from Danny & go to the Police or tell whomever you have to.

another thought is finding out if Laffen or the admins can do a check to see if the IP address used by this user is the same as any other registered user on the site.

when people show a willingness to help by giving you whatever information they have it shows they have nothing to hide, when they deter you from doing the most instinctive things such as calling the Police it means they have some involvement and that makes them as guilty as the perpetrators in my eyes.

Danny, i suggest you PM the numbers and any info you have to the person who needs them....failure to do this leaves me thinking your involved....no arguments required thanks.

If dave was just someone i know on MSN etc i would be completly in kaisers corner. But i've been to daves house, and met up with him on 2 other occasions. Fair enough i cant dismiss the idea that he has scammed kaiser, but since i did my first deal with dave last year theres not been a day when he's not been on MSN, until now.

I suggest we write a letter to his address and find out whats happened.

Posted by decoy7
ok, that puts things in perspective...thanks for the info Danny, changes my view somewhat of the 'friend' tag.

i suggest you send the address you have to Kaiser_Man so they can follow up however they wish to by calling the Police or otherwise....and based on the messages you've seen on his MSN, maybe yes, you might wish to go visit your 'mate' to ensure he's alright.

Posted by Kaiser_Man
I think a letter is a good way to go, I will get on that tonight.

I have an address for him as I have sent him my phone.

Update

I have sent Dave a letter asking him to either pay me my money or send me back my phone and I have not heard anything from him.

Last week scott very kindly contacted me to let me know he was on MSN and he had told him I was trying to get hold of him, apparently he has been on basic training in the army. Scott asked him to contact me but he has not.

So I am still without my 8800 and £110 out of pocket.

I will update you when there something to update you with.

Kai

Still nothing from this guy, I have now given up any hope of hearing from him, I have posted negative feedback in the A-Z and I recommend everyone else to avoid this con man at all costs.
