seriously i have been using sony ericsson for more than 2 to 3 years but i was wondering are all sony ericsson mobile phone quad-band. so if its gprs 1800-1900 or 3G umts .does that mean there quad or triband how can you tell.

Posted by Marly
Tri-band plus 3G is not quad-band, a quad-band phone has 4 GSM bands.

w660i is maybe a quad band right

Posted by Marly
W660i is not quad-band, it's tri-band plus 3G.
W810i is a real quad-band, without 3G, though.

Posted by DEAF
so will the w660i or t650i work in the usa or europe or canada.

Posted by Marly
W660i and T650i both are tri-band phones with 3G, they'll work perfectly in Europe.
As for the USA : they'll work in large areas, especially around cities, but not nationwide, as they both miss the 850 Mhz frequency-band, which is used in some areas in the USA.

W850 isn't quad band

Posted by mustafabay
K850 isn't just quadband GSM but triband 3G too.

A few more (old models) according to GSMArena's phone finder:

W810
K850
W300
W600
Z520
Z750
Z525

W850 and V640 do not support 850 MHz according to GSMArena. Does that still make them quad-band models?

Edit: V640 does indeed support 850 MHz according to SE. But not W850.

so that means any sony ericsson quad model is based on edge.

Posted by AbuBasim
Quad-band with EDGE? Try phone finder.

Posted by DEAF
no i mean ever sony ericsson phone has to have edge to be quad-band

Posted by AbuBasim
Quad-band (GSM 850 / GSM 900 / GSM 1800 / GSM 1900) does not imply EDGE.

Posted by masseur
though in SE phones there does seem to be a trend that way

Posted by AbuBasim
Z520 and Z525 are exceptions. These are quad-band without EDGE.

Posted by DEAF
so when sony ericsson develop a quad band for every phone

Posted by BobaFett
i dont think that low end fones and some mkd range fones will be quadbands... maybe in the future it will be a standard, but not atm
