How far should we be away from object to use the Marco shot to best effect? 1 metre? below 1 metre?

I'd say below one metre. I think i read somewhere that one should stay within 60 centimeters. But some one more initiated could shed some light on the matter?

Bryan84.......i dont know..i only know one thing...i allways get better pictures with the stabilisator ON....

one easy tip if you want good sharpness in Macro mode, is to zoom 2-3-4 clicks......(special if you use flash)...the camera (on k850) find focus better in that way......

So you are encourgaing us to zoom 2x to 4x when we are trying to take good macro shots?

Posted by plankgatan
yepp..like here...(the flash on k850 is realy powerfull...so if you hold the camera to close..the flash gets little to strong, (special on light colors)..thats why you get better colors & sharpness if you keep the camera away a little and zoom...(also use ISO.100 with flash)

Mate, thankyou. I know you have been annoyed by me insisting on wanting full size images. So, I really appreciate you posting one. I can now see why you prefer them minimised. I hope you continue to enjoy your K850 - I'm not going to be buying one anytime soon if ever. Don't get me wrong - I wont be buying any 5mp cam phone soon as they all don't live upto my expectations and I am now tired of them. Thank you.

Nice pictures guys

Some more from me.

Auto mode ISO80 it became ( why canīt we chose this manually? ) Exp-1

Macro shot. Auto ISO100, flash fired

I also tried out the photodj in the phone a bit after reading about it. Itīs like a photo-editor most of us have in our computers but scaled down a bit and very basic. No one will use this instead of a "real" photo program if they got one i guess but it does some improvement.

Auto, ISO100, exp -1

Then i fiddled around with levels in PhotoDj

And got this. Bit more "power" in the picture

And hereīs some variations of my old bike-picture

Original Auto mode, ISO auto ( the phone choosed ISO64 )

Dont know why ISO100 is the lowest ISO we can lock the cam to in manual setting?

Then a run in photodj with autolevels only

And a bit more messing around. Think this where to dark but just to show the variations.

This is what i like about the K850i, it lets us play with the pictures instead of some strong saturated/manipulated pictures straight from the phone and helps us who arenīt as good as Plankgatan at taking pictures

@mongoose3800

Well what do one excpect? It's a phone with a camera. And off course it has limitations in more than on area compared to a 5 MP designated digital camera. I am sure that the K850 camera will get even better when new firmware will be released. But i for one are satisfied with it already as it is.

The quality of cam. phones is what it is today. Nothing more, nothing less. So it's simple: Buy a real digitial camera if your demands/expectations are over that that K850 or other 5MP camera phones can deliver.

And PLEASE let's not let this thread be yet another nagging thread about how bad digi.cam phones are OR how much better the LG viewty or N95 are compared to K850. (not directed to mongoose3800 specificly)

Thank you.

Great pic mate! That's the kind of tips we need to share to find out how best to use this great cameraphone! Do you fiddle around with exposure a lot?

Here is another one of mine - Sunny profile, ISO 100, everything else auto:

Pre-Photo DJ:

This is after Photo DJ - auto-level, increased contrast 3 notches, increased colour 3-4 notches:

Had to crop that by 80% in paint cos the file size increased from 1.4MB to 2.6MB after Photo DJ. Hope it isn't too badly affected.

Posted by Bryan84
Why will you use photo dj instead of photoshop for example? Just cusious

Posted by Bryan84
Finally! I think a photo I can be proud of! =X Hope it's good to the rest.

I tried to do the water droplet image too!

First photo i took with my K850i, just got it today.
ISO 100, Stabliser On, Flash on, Daylight mode, every other thing auto. Don't know if i should had used macro or not. The flash is affecting the photo as well, but i would need to climb a chair and zoom it 2 times to not get affected. I tried taking without flash too, it looks like shit.

Love that sun set-shot!

Generally i think we should try fiddeling with the ISO settings more. That might help some shots not to become a tad "bleached" Also white balance could be good to check out.

Posted by Pitzon
I have noticed that many of my shots in good light and outdoors gets taken with ISO64. Thats not posible to "lock" in the phone. But maybe ths would be great if we could do?

So now i shoot with ISO Auto instead of 100 during day

Posted by fullforce
I often use auto mode but one should be aware that shots can get "bleached" so one should be prepared to use manual ISO settings and whiteness balance settings.

My friends dog again. Here the light is a bit to strong...but that's what you get when using auto mode

Nice shots guys. I'm also debating whether ISO 100 is any good for day shots...

Here are two I took today:

Settings: Landscape, Stabilizer, ISO 100, Daylight profile

Post Photo DJ: Auto-level, increased contrast 3 notches, increased colour 2 notches

Settings: Profile, Daylight profile, Stablizer, ISO 100

Post Photo DJ: Auto-level, contrast +3, colour +2, cropped to 80% in paint due to file restrictions

Oh and to the guy who asked why use Photo DJ instead of PS? We're trying to get the best results on the phone WITHOUT any editing on a pc (ie. it all has to be done on the K850i).

Posted by fullforce
@Laxe
Nice shots and nice edtiting! You didn't overdo it and thats good.

And yes- let's ONLY post pics that are, at most, edited in the phone or without any editing at all.

nice pics...k850 is the best camera phone.

What do you use to clean the lens glass?
I use this. German made, costs about 6 euro.

Can't wait 'till the krusell classic case is available here.
