Just got my K850 yesterday.. the first one out of the shop!

Here is a pic - I feel that the colors are not vibrant - I wonder if its a setting?

play around with the settings...(dont use Auto all time....experiment (with your self) and your camera...he he he.....

one cool thing with k850 is that you can change the speed in BestPic (slow or fast)....for example....take some nice leafs from the ground...throw them up in the air...shoot quickly some BestPics....realy cool thing. (tried that some days ago).....

what i like most with photographing, is when you manage to "freeze" the time in a picture..like this one:

@plankgatan,
Very nice macro shot, indeed. That's one mother of a water drop! We get rain with drops of that size here in Oman and you do not want to go outside when it starts pouring.

Does the K850i allow the use of the Xenon flash with BestPic or did you use another light source?

k850 take better Macro...thats it !!!!

unless you post a full 5MP shot, i'm afraid that is NOT it!

Posted by rockygali
i dont think bestpic was used in that one?! coz flash fired... or maybe theres an artificial lighting on the back of the person shooting.

in anyway, its magnificent.

whatever..(have you any proof(pics) yourself who show the opposite ????.....im at least trying to show some Macro pics !!!!

so yes...k850 Macro function is best. (until i see some other Macro pics, i rest my case)

edit...i forgott one thing...(i look at this pic in full size...guess what..it look sharp (for a full size 5 M.P pic)...i post the pic tonight..im at the universitey now)

i was wondering:what's the max number of pics that the k850i's bestpic captures at once?

Posted by goldenface
Isn't it 9 pics? I love that feature.

Posted by max_wedge
yep.

@jojo and razec:

the top of the line Canon EOS-1D III has a burst mode of 10fps, however an affordable 5MP like the Canon PowerShot A460 has a burst mode of 1.5 fps.

The K800 best pic takes 1 photo every tenth of a second (10fps). But burst mode and best pic are not the same thing. Burst mode actually saves all the pictures taken, whereas Best pic only saves the one you select out of the nine.

Actual Burst mode, on the K750 (K800 doesn't have an actual burst mode), is one picture every 0.6 of a second (approx 1.7fps), but only 4 pictures are taken per burst (but all are saved).

In contrast the Canon EOS-1D III can take and save 100 jpg or 30 RAW 10MP pictures in one continuous burst of 10 fps! Now when a camera phone can do that there will be no more argument about whether camera phones are "real" digicams or not

Posted by rockygali
i wont mind lookin silly havin a phone as thick as Mark 3.

when it performs as better as a Mark 3...

I think most people would settle for a camera phone comparable with a P&S camera. A camera phone of DSLR-like quality will probably cost even more than the K850i.

@plank...

that's one great macro shot (of the "frozen" drop)!!!
show us some more... great creativity you got there!

Posted by plankgatan
BestPic is,

the camera; takes 4 pics when you press the camera button half way, (when the camera found Focus).....then 4 pics when you press the camera button the entire way...........between this it also take 1 pic...

so its 4 + 1 + 4 pics during the time it takes to press the camera button the entire way.

so it's nine pics,thanks guys...
offtopic:I noticed while keeping my w900i camera button half in for about 3-4secs,it makes two beeps and the square in the centre of the screen becomes green for while...what does that mean?

Posted by goldenface
It means it has finished auto-focusing. It plays two beeps in rapid succession right? (god I miss my W900i)

Posted by gola
@goldenface-yes,that's what i'm talking about,thanks...
p.s.you should have kept it...
back on topic:bestpic is the best

Posted by indup
bestpic takes 9 pictures, so does that mean the best pic out of the 9 will be of inferior quality compared to if you just took one regular pic(without using the bestpic feature) whilst the other settings are the same?

I know what you mean, unfortunately the last hurricane wasn't too friendly with the streets of Oman!

Here is another pic.

Can't you put your photos on a site like imageshack and then put links to them. They are hard to view this way.

@plankgatan

what ISO setting did you have to take these picture outside also could you offer any tips on ISO settings indoor/outdoor please

Posted by plankgatan
if you ask a "real" photographer, he say that strong sunshine dosent give the best pictures...the best pictures do you get afternoon (early evening)....the suns beams are "warmer"(gives better colors) at noon...

the trick is to manual change the whitness + use whitness profiles.
also have the sun in your back and keep the phone steady.

this one i used Daylight and -0.7 whitness

this one i used Daylight and -0,3 whitness

what do you mean by whitness + use whitness profiles is that EV and white balance ??
^__^

Posted by plankgatan
(joystick) D-Pad + example "daylight-profile"...(manual whitness + program whitness)

i called it whitness balance..(on Swedish: vit-balans)

Awesome pics Plankgatan

Yes the colours now are soo nice, itīs sad i have so little time after work before it gets dark. Playing with some whitebalance level can make tons of differents like Plankgatan says.

Here are a few from today, i love my new phone

What setting do you recommend for shoting people indoors with flash? As in the great pictures of your children. Thanks!

the last pic is great...(good sharpness & colors)...the "large" pictures (like (landscape) is allways hardest to get good....

when you shoot large pics, turn down the whitness balance a little..it often improve the quality.

Please can somebody help me.

Got a new SE K850 on O2. With auto setting the photos taken with flash on are really dark (I am not blocking the sensor or the flash with my hand/fingers) . In fact photos taken in minimal light condition (Indoor + out door) without flash are better. Am I doing something wrong or does the flash sucks.

Will appreciate any help

That's the baby I'm talkin' about!

Posted by *Jojo*
@anton - Well good thing your woof-woof went to heaven matey !

@jali - That's really WEIRD matey . . . with flash: dark image appeared / without flash: bright shot was taken

In camera-lingo, this is what you call: parallax error !

Posted by max_wedge
parallax error refers to the way a non-SLR optical viewfinder frames the image at an offset compared to the actual image that falls on the sensor or film.

In an SLR, or a digital camera with lcd viewfinder, the image in the viewfinder is framed exactly as it appears on the censor or film. (no offset)

[snip!]

Your problem is probably that the K850i uses faster shutter speeds for flash photos. Remember that the range of the flash is not very long! Probably just long enough for something you can reach with your arm and a little bit more.

wow...very very good sharpness & colors...nice

@max_wedge,do you think DSLRs such as that one will always stay huge in size or will they become smaller as technology advances?possibly as small as an average mobile phone,just being a bit optimistic

Posted by jmcomms
You wouldn't want a DSLR to get too small. It's for a different purpose, where you need easily accessible manual control, large lenses, a big display for photo checking and decent battery life - plus the ability to add attachments.

There's little chance of the humble cameraphone ever hitting SLR sales, any more than a standard standalone digital camera is any threat. Well, actually there might be a few situations where the paps use smaller cameras to get pictures they might not otherwise get, but that's about it.
