I still cant understand why a few people on here can take fantasticly sharp photo's and others just OK, ie most recent flower shots taken by fullforce ??
I've tried soooooooooo hard to get sharp photo's but almost always they are similar to those flower pics.

Is it me or the camera?, I set to all settings as suggested by plankgatan and hold the camera very still , not tripod still but the best I can but still no great sharpness. All low light shots without flash are blurred and also notice a slight "white haze" to some daylight shots (mostly indoors) even though the lens cover is clean and the main light source is behind the camera.

Yeah, it's a haaard life( Freddie Mercury)
I wish that the camera just would be more easy to take good shots without fiddling to much with the settings. I don't mind using the settings but..a little more ease to get good shots with most settings in auto ,would be nice! Maybe we will get there with a comming firmware? Let's take one or two friday-beers and keep our fingers crossed.

most pics in this thread look sharp because there are resized to 800x600, when you crush 5mp in to that small space of corse it's gonna look sharp.

all you can really do is hold the cam as still as possible to get sharp pics,
the blur in low-light is more powerful post-processing applied by the firmware to remove noise because a 5mp cmos sensor is gonna have loads of noise. the "white haze" is the whitebalance trying to balance out the exposure by clouding up the photo k800i has this problem really bad.

Im still learning the camera and there havent been many good sunny days here since I got it to really play with it outdoors.

These three were taken this morning.

i'm back...after days of waiting for inspiration to come and save me from absolute boredom and uneventful 2nd term. XD

one thing i realize thow. it seems that my shots have been producing lotsa noise right after debranding for the 3rd time. and my day shots are much better compared those captured indoors and during night shots. anyone knows how to fix this without fiddling with the exposure meter, and the noiseware application??

lol yeah well thats scotland, here today it was almost 80 i think, which is over 20 degress celcius. I think this season we'll have a hot summer

Posted by fullforce
Well as you see light is a biggie to get really nice shots (no wonder since the sensor is ..what it is)
I think this one is quite allright. I think i used day light profile and everything else on auto.

I feel sorry for you with flashproblems and you who get blurry shots with this new firmware when taking flash-shots. This is what i get with the -31 firmware, ISO 100:

Yes i know i have a messy closset but it also serve as a storage room and drying room.
There's a nice balance and the blankett did not get bleached and you can still see a fair deal of the white thing behind it.

@fullforce
I've only had the flash problem since I upgraded the software to 031, so I guess its not a hardware issue, blurry pics I've had right the way through but only in lower/indoor no flash situations and I think that can be overcome by fooling the sensor and triggering the photo faster/slower not sure which or how.

Posted by fullforce
@larry 68
Hmm tried to flash again? And if you have 10 euro to spare if you cut down on wetabix you can do a desperate flash at Da Vinci or some other. There you get a flash that overwrites everything.

It's strange how the issues differ so much in how the appear(or not appear) amongst us who have the -31.

increase the EV. make sure your finger doesn't cover the flash.
use auto settings + auto red eye for usual flash.
example:

use Scene: Twilight Portrait + auto red eye for fill flash.
example:

those images taken in the same condition, with different settings of the camera.

here's another example of how strong the flash is:

anyway, k850 produces bad pics in low light condition WITHOUT flash. even worse than k750. but the quality becomes very good when you use the xenon flash. the problem is... not everytime we'd like to capture with xenon flash: http://www.esato.com/board/viewtopic.php?topic=166042

I've taken almost 1600 photo's with this phone now so I know how to hold it, so thats not part of the problem.

On this photo I set the cam to flash but it didnt.

On this one the flash did fire and came out like this !!

From what I've experienced, it's very good in low light condition, such as here:

but sometimes it produces very poor images, esp in some room with not-so-bright-flourescent lighting. not bad because it's blurry, but bad coz of the color reproduction. It's really off, reddish, purplish, such as here:

k770

both are without flash.

and I really don't know what's wrong. So if you feel that it takes good pics in such a condition too, maybe you can tell me how to take better images. I will be very happy to listen. Cause honestly, I just didn't found the right settings. I've tried many scenes, with many combinations with white balance (except incandescent). Still doesn't work.

Anyway.. lately days are cloudy.
I still must wait to use my k850 in a very good daylight.
However, had managed some other pics:

Amras this is a random pic that i just took....the same thing you can see with your own eyes if you are are in the room.........I don't have any problems with colors reproduction in any low light conditions

I think that is really good and very acceptable quality, Luci's Power.

Though I'm still confused what is wrong with my phone anyway.
Is that auto white balance and auto scene?

For a while, maybe I'll just use some flash to resolve the problem.

BTW.. is there any chance that China r1ea003 will be different to (for example) Baltic r1ea003? Just wondering.

Oh and is there anyone suffer the same problem with me?

well i use the 037 firmwire and in don't intend to do a update to the last firmwire.......your phone is ok i mean is nothing wrong with it is just that you have to play with the settings.....if you take this type of low light pictures as i did ,or you did, and you use auto settings you get the same results as you did ....a pic without colours....in this type of low light conditions i use (sometimes) twilight portrait for more vivid colors and change the white balance

[ This Message was edited by: Luci'sPower on 2008-03-01 20:16 ]

before i updated my phone with the current f/w, actually my original f/w was 037. but the pics on such conditions both taken with 003 and 037 is very similar though.

thanks for some suggestions though. really appreciate.

Just received a K850i the other day, still learning the camera. This is a picture of my watch, a Seiko Spirit, taken with document mode + automatic flash. I thought it turned out nicely enough; though without the flash, the picture was awfully grainy.

If I may know, what is your current Camera SW (in the hidden/service menu)?
Not the firmware, but the camera SW. I would like to know.

My friend's k850 is 3.0 and mine is 3.7. From what I see, my cam quality is better with the same f/w.

BTW.. I took another macro shots. Daylight photo is awesome. Colors are a bit off btw (I think coz the weather was partly cloudy).
