@plank
I can't still understand, how can you take so sharp pictures. I usually take the pictures with 3MP resolution, but they looks quite blurry. I can make better pictures with my K750 too. I should use document settings, but mostly with indoor pictures I use the twilight portrait, because it produces more vivid colours, but at least the colours are good. But with document or auto setting I can't take noticeably sharper pictures.
SO I don't wait to make this phone a digicam like quality shots, but at least at 2-3 Mp it should be perfect. The k750 take NEARLY percfect pictures at its 2Mp (indoors not always, because it has no xenon flash), so I would expect from K850 at least perfect pics at 2MP (sadly can't be chosen this size) but at this resolution nearly always.
I don't uderstand how you take your sharp pics with qiute realistic colours. I remember you wrote something about a change of your phone, so your present phone is a later one. I think that I don't make any significant mistake when I take the shots, and I think (or at least I hope) that the camera hardware hasn't any major fault.
I noticed, that the K850 makes sharper pictures with document mode, the colours are better with twilight portrait setting, but generraly I'm not satisfied with my phones pictures (neither at 3Mp resolution). So I guess the faults are caused by the software, but this idea don't makes me happier without fixing it.
I HOPE a major software update can help me, otherwise ..... sadly i don't know what should I do.

Why is there always a purplish layer in most of the sky pics of K850?
It doesn't occur in K770 or K750.

i finally think i have got it with this phone and pics, whenever inside i always use a steady hand and twilight portrait, and outside use the document mode. I always get much better results now, especially with the right whote balance setting

I've taken some shots at the same time, same conditions same place with my k850, but I've changed the setting from automatic to document mode. I known that with doncument mode the K850 maks a little bit sharpar pictures, but the difference was AMAZING. The pictures looks now far more sharper and owerall better.
Sadly the brightness changes, pictures become darker in bad lighting conditions and brighter with good light source.
Now my k850 demonstrated me that it has no hardware fault, and it could produce sharp pictures too. Sadly I won't use the document mode indoors, because the pictures become relatively dark, and sometimes the focusing don't works proper, because with document mode it doesn't use the light for focusing. Another thing, that colours aren't vivid (I like just the twilight portrait's colours).
I'm waiting really the firmware update to optimize the camera usage. I'm just disappointed about the camera, generally the phone is OK for me.
And I have to contradict to some of you, who says that K850's camera needs some photographer skills. It isn't that kind or that category of camera, which should need these kind of skills. Neither a better stand alone digital camera needs any talent to make good shots, the professional ones are another thing.

Document mode Vs. Auto mode:
All settings on auto, Document mode:
Auto mode:
All settings on auto, Document mode:
Auto mode:
I think Automode is better but maybe the documentmode does the pictures a little bit of sharper? :S
And a finishing picture ( Excuse me for the bad english, im from sweden ) :

that flower pic is realy good.
ps..turn down EV to -0.3 or sometimes to -0.7 when you use document.
but i agree with you, sometimes plain auto looks best.

Sorry, I'm probably going to fill up a whole page with these 1 Mp shots. I tried resizing a few in photobucket but it didnt seem to work. If it did i'll do the others too.
The resizing worked on the first few, I've done the rest to 800x600, but it hasnt changed them yet.
Any way, I got a whole load of new shiny shiny toys for my PC :

Here we go again!
The Emirates Stadium, taken just before the Blackburn Game (2-0 Arsenal, Senderos) - I feel the K850i manages details so well here -
My PS3 SixAxis, and T650i Case - before anyone says, the 'Sony Ericsson' is intentionally left soft - as the focus was on the SixAxis!
So, the K850i can handle some decent Macro shots - WITHOUT flashburn - I feel all those with the Flashburn issue, have dirty flash sensors!
