Ok I am looking for some help, I have gubbed my iphone (technical term). I installed a couple of apps, books, darwin origin of species and then a ctu24 ringtone.
Now I cannot find the phone with my pc and it is resetting itself every 30 secs or so and it doesn't give me time to get into installer to remove the apps.
How do you put it into recovery without going through ziphone? Has anyone else had these problems and can anyone help? I am kinda worried i've done something serious and as I cannot sort it and didn't register it I could be in trouble???

Hi Guys
Another question, spot the technophobe eh!! Can the Iphone browse using just sim or is it only via wifi. Plus I have wireless in the house, will the Iphone automatically browse via this first.
Sorry for the inane question but no idea about these things. Please advise

iPhone will connect to known wi-fi networks automatically when they are in range, so it'll browse via wi-fi when you're at home.

Connect the phone to your PC and hold down the power button (on the top) and home button simultaneously. Keep them held for about 30 seconds, and you should see the "connect to iTunes" icon (it looks like the iTunes icon with a cable connecting to it). Your phone will then be in recovery mode, and your PC should recognise it. You'll get a message saying, "iTunes has discovered an iPhone in recovery mode".

Hi guys
Another question, I already had itunes which was synced with my existing ipod. I have successfully synced my iphone but only a few of the album covers appear in the cover flow mode. Is this something that can be rectified, how do I get all the album covers?? Please Help
Posted by masseur
you just select an album or multiple albums, right cilck and choose get album artwork
you'll need to have an itunes account for that to work though
if that doesn't get them all then simply find the album on any site like play.com, amazon etc, click on the picture of the album, right click and copy. Then back in itunes right click on the album or track, click get info, click the artwork tab and paste the image into the box

Hi Massuer
I already have an itunes account, do you think it matters what version it is. If it is and I update my Itunes will it affect my Iphone
Posted by masseur
I guess it shouldn't matter if its an older itunes version but it won't hurt to update to the latest
Posted by j0be
If I update my itunes will it affect my Iphone i.e. have to jailbreak it again. Can somebody please advise?
Posted by masseur
sorry if I wasn't clear. if you update itunes you're iphone will be unaffected

It seems as if the 3G iPhone might be closer than we think with the news this morning that O2, the operator partner for the device in the UK, has a page on its online shop declaring the 8GB and 16GB iPhone are "no longer available" in the UK.
The 8GB iPhone sold out due to the success of the £100 off promotion, but this is the first time that both versions are unavailable to O2 customers.
On the site O2 does not give a reason for the unavailability of the devices, merely the message: "Please note: 8GB and 16GB iPhone are no longer available".
The Carphone Warehouse's online shop also shows both versions of the phone out of stock, however, the Apple online store shows both models ready to ship in 24 hours.
We have contacted O2's press office for comment on this development and apparently, despite the "no longer available" welcome page, it is just a temporary situation, the statement we received reads as follows:
"The 16GB iPhone was temporarily out of stock on our online store this morning. We are replenishing stock of the 16GB iPhone and customers wishing to purchase through our online store will be able to shortly."

Not anymore, both the UK and US stores are showing both models as 'currently unavailable'.

I've tried many but I've been using DVD Catalyst for windows mobile and now iphone. My son also uses it for PSP. it does a very good job and I've been in contact with the developer quite alot assisting with problem DVDs that have unusual layouts
This software works very well but some DVD's will not convert. When the 'GO' button is clicked, a window opens showing the directory structure where the video conversion will be saved too.
I tried to convert the Japanese anime, 'Totoro' and also the set - Shogun, but both cause the software to do this.
Others, Bourne Trilogy. Casino Royale etc convert well!
I will email their technical support, but I wondered what 'unusual layouts' you had problems with ?
Thanks!

I mostly convert music videos and since there are a large number of individual tracks/songs on those compared to a normal movie DVD there have been a few DVDs that I had problems with.
Mitch (the developer) at support@pocketdvd.ca usually gets back to me within 24 hours and sometimes within a few hours depending on the time, so send him an email with the specifics.
What he does if he doesn't have the DVD is he rents it from one of those postal DVD rental places and so usually gets it next day if they have it in stock. He then uses some software he has to analyze the disc to see how its different from normal and then usually is able to provide either a work around or a fix
as I said before, I've tried many different softwares for conversion but none produce the quality this does AND also have the support this one does too

Hi masseur,
thanks for your quick reply. I have emailed Mitch already but just wondered about the issues you had !
Mitch's reply on previous occasions was very quick!
Cheers!

to be honest I never really paid much attention to the explanations I was given as I simply wanted the problems fixed. I don't even recall which discs gave me a problem as its been a few months since I last had an issue
sorry...
edit: actually I remember the last problem disc I had which was Genesis greatest hits and if I remember correctly the conversion wouldn't get past the first song

Hi masseur,
thanks. The two problems DVD's don't even show in the list ready for conversion!
I also tried to convert for HTC and WM6 devices. Anyway, I have given Mitch lots of details, and will report back if he tells me anything useful to share !

The 16GIG iphone is still currently available on O2 website: http://shop.o2.co.uk/promo/iphonetariffs
That information where it says its no longer available is incorrect. Its available still on the apple website both versions 8 and 16 on the apple uk site and o2 site it only shows the 16 gig only.

More will ship but only after the 3G ones havce been announced I think.

Surely it makes more sense for them to get rid of them before they announcy the 3g iphone. I think they must actually be running out themselves.

iphone just gets better and better. Im glad I have held of getting iphone till now.

I'm REALLY glad I didn't hold off as even after about 10 weeks of ownership its still my most used gadget.
When I'm not making phone calls, or sending the odd text, its entertaining me with music while I work. On the train to/from work I catch up with video podcasts for such things as National Nine news in sydney, and gadget updates such as Geekbrief (with the lovely Cali Lewis), Megawhat, CNet's Loaded (with the lovely Natalie del Conte)... also Stuff.tv
other podcasts that keep me amused are the Reuters oddly Enough... and finally! and Around the net (with the very lovely Olivia Munn)
when I'm waiting for a system build at work, or in the waiting room at doctor/dentist etc I play backgammon, solitaire or parking lot among other games
I can check the weekend weather with the touhc of a button or see how my shares or how the Aussie dollar conversion is going (not good at the mo) or reminisce over my kids younger years photos etc, not to mention check out the locality of a place I want to go to using google maps etc etc etc (I could go on how much I use this!).
I almost never take pics with phones but I do hope the camera is improved and more usable in the next version
oh yeah... and watching you lot on Esato using the browser
So, its really doing alot more for me than any previous single device ever did so in no way do I regret having not waited
Posted by haynesycop
This is something i thought i'd never hear you say if i'm being honest, glad you like it. I love mine was just abit annoyed that the 16gb was released so quickly after i got my 8gb version, but i decided to hold off and wait for the next one. It''l be truly perfect then, can store all my videos and music then. Although i only watch the mac adverts, there so funny.
