Hi all
Have to say even though it's still my first 24 hours this really is a very impressive device. So far i have only added Fring and am still deciding which Web App's i really need and want as well as what to install with the installer as there is just so much stuff it's unreal.
Just need to find a good way to get my ringtones transferred and am awaiting for my PDAir Flip case to arrive as already have the car mount for it.
So far the only extra's i have bought are the Griffin Headphone adapter and the Apple Anti Glare Film Set both of which are really great IMO.

@dogmann....
Best way i have found is to convert to aac in itunes, rename file to .m4r then import back into itunes and it will put it into the ringtones folder then jus sycronise with yeh iphone
not quick but easy anyway.

Hi all
Actually i found a program called iRinger that does it well enough for what i need and is nice and simple to use as it automatically reduces the track to 30sec's which changeing the file extension doesn't.
Just about finalizing installations and customizations to have it all just as i want it.
I must say the more i am using this device the more i like it and whilst it may not be a E90 as a Multimedia smart phone it really is excellent if not unbeatable.
So glad that they dropped the price on the 8GB as it made me take the plunge i don't regret it for a second. As 8GB is enough for my needs and I'm not even worried about it not having 3G as can use my S60 device as a WiFi Hot spot and then let the iPhone access it's 3G/HSDPA connection. So as long as i still have an S60 3G/HSDPA device i can use my iPhone with it. So even if i sell my E90 i can just get the smallest and cheapest S60 device with 3G/HSDPA to be my iPhones personal WiFi Hot Spot.

another great story of iphone power lol... but the wow factor does were down abit... it's still a great device...that has lots more potential as well
Posted by Dogmann
Hi Dragon Eye & all,
I'm sure the being new factor will wear off a little after time but really for what i need to and want do there really isn't anything close to the iPhone. Once i stop looking for a stylus and just use my fingers will help but i am amazed at just how well it all works with fingers even my typing speed is good.
I have never sent an MMS and only occasionally even send or receive SMS as i hate them, i only ever use Bluetooth for a handsfree headset so many of the so called iPhone weaknesses really just don't affect me.
The only thing that has disappointed me is i can't install all the apps i want as they aren't yet supported in the 1.14 firmware and i really am not confident enough yet to start downgrading my firmware as my ring Volume is nice and loud and everything runs so well.
Although i have now added quite a few Web apps and Fring and Make Mine to change my Operator Log, i do have a few questions if any one can help.
Is their any way to delete the cache and cookies in the Web browser? or does it auto clear on exiting.
Can i add additional tones for message alerts or Alarms?
That really is the only things that i am tryng to find out.
Marc

settings > safari > clear history/clear cookies is probably what you are looking for. not sure about the second question
for me, the new factor has not worn off yet after nearly 2 months and I've long since stopped searching for the stylus. In fact on my TyTN II I find I am using my fingers alot more and generally I can get away with it but it requires alot more pressure
after 1 week on iphone my 16yo daughter is also now a convert so it seems that it really does appeal to old and new alike
Posted by shanespencer
Marc, to change the sounds used for messages, alarms etc you could try iBrickr. I've not used it myself as I'm on a Mac (I use iFuntastic). Hope that helps.
Posted by Dogmann
Hi Masseur,
Thanks for that your going to laugh but in settings i had forgotten it scrolls down so thought General was the last option DOH!
@shanespencer
Thanks i'll check it out.

Hi all
Just thought i would post a snapshot of my iPhone Home Screen as although i have looked at the available themes so far i prefer the standard Black background and standard icons and am using the Earth Wallpaper.
@shanespencer
Yet another program that doesn't work with 1.14 I'm afraid but not really that bothered anymore.

btw, I enjoy the backgammon but it don't 'alf cheat. Mostly when it doubles up its positions when you are ot exposed and all the doubles it gets during the end game.

Hi all
Nice to see some others set ups as it also shows me some additional apps to look at installing as only the apps on my first page are the ones i really use. So didn't post the second page although just swapped the Capture with the Speed Test app and hadn't realised i could move Zibir's Blog thought the X meant it couldn't be moved.
I must say considering it is just a couple of days with a new OS and using just using fingers when i haven't used a a Touchscreen since June 2006 it really is easy to learn how to use it.
Happy to say my PDAir Flip case arrived in the Post toady and am really happy with it great quality leather and finnish and works really well with out adding to much bulk.

installer can be a pain in the arse! i find when i get problems downloading things, if i hold the home button whilst in the installer(which resets it) then try and download the file again, it works

As far as I'm aware, it won't work unless you're a registered developer - you'll get a Pink Screen Of Death otherwise!

Hi masseur,
I actually posted the content but it would not display correctly.
I suggested a pm because often people get bored with my need for Japanese input and they switch off
1. install BSD Subsystem
2. install Term-vt100
3. install Erica's utilities
4. install mobilefinder
5. install mobiletext edit
6. install 'SUID Lib Fix' (under Tweaks 1.1.3)
7. open Term-vt100
at the first login prompt type: alpine
at the command prompt type: bash
then type as follows:
echo PATH=$PATH;/var/root/bin
cd /var/mobile/Library/Preferences
plutil -c xml1 .GlobalPreferences.plist
(in the future, anytime you need to fix or add more languages, if it appears as garbled text in MobileTextEdit, you can go back and run step 7 again to convert your GlobalPreferences.plist file to xml, so that it can be read in MobileTextEdit and won't appear as gibberish)
8. open MobileFinder, navigate to /var/mobile/Library/Preferences
9. highlight GlobalPreferences.plist
10. click on File->Modify->Open with->TextEdit.app
11. this will open a new screen with the code for the global preferences. scroll down to find both places where you see the following
...and edit both places to add a line so it looks like this:

Hi all
I have to say i think that another of the advantages of ZiPhone is the fact that besides jail breaking ,unlocking and activating your iPhone or iTouch with just one click is that it also installs
BSD Subsystem V2.1
Installer V3.01
OpenSSH V4.6p1-2
Well that certainly helped me get started and saved me some hassle, still only 4 days in and i think i have virtually reached my perfect set up for now. I have installed SummerBoard V3.2 and am now running the Louie Mantia Black Theme and quite a few a apps and Web apps and amazed at just how much i am enjoying this device. At last i get why so many people rave about it.
