@Super - There is currently no way to unlock, jailbreak or do anything with an iPhone running 1.1.3

Posted by DragonEye
still loving my iphone more and more... hoenstly haven't used something this enjoyable for a long time.. let's hope they get 1.1.3 unlocked, jailbroken and ready to go... SDK is around the corner...

Posted by fatreg
seriosuly looking at joining this club but need to track down an unlocked iPhone...

Posted by masseur
ditto. s'pose I should have a play at least.

Posted by whentheleveebreaks
Im really happy with the new 1.1.3, cant wait for the sdk and new apps without hacking the phone.

Posted by MWEB
Know three guys who bricked their "unlocked" iphones recently, i have zero intention of forking out 300 quid for a v expensive paperweight!!
When and if they become Sim-free, i shall invest in one!!

Posted by fatreg
simple advice is don't update OS until you know it's safe to do so.. an "unlocked" iPhone isn't going to brick itself with out some user intervention!

Posted by MWEB
The FW is highly unstable in one's that have been "diddled", it's not only an OS upgrade that can make them go tit's up Reg

Posted by haynesycop
Exactly i was gutted when mine broke hence why i'm looking to find the cash to pay off my existing contracts and go with o2 it just isn't worth the hassle.

How did it brake???

Posted by DragonEye
from what i've seen so far.. virtually every iphone has been "fixable" after a major crash.. provider that you aren't on a locked firmware.....

Posted by haynesycop
I put it in a apple hifi dock in HMV and the screen went white, after which it rebooted loads and then wouldn't charge when i took it home then it died as the battery went, tried to replace the battery either it didn't work or i didn't do it properly, proper gutted loved it so much. Can't find a solution anywhere.

Posted by MWEB
That's bad news Haynesycop, stuff of nightmares really, i know two guys this week who had similar end results as yours (though initiated via different actions).
Trouble is you see that the iphone is ultimatly a very expensive device, not one to go hacking wildly at without coming to terms with the possibility of it being bricked, even by accident.
Again it's not the kind of device that your local friendly turbanite who runs a phone shop down the market can fix for you whilst you do your shopping
I will (on principle) never buy an iphone untill it either becomes available sim-free, or has a proper network unlock (like 99% of decent/normal phones do)!!.

Posted by haynesycop
I know i made a big mistake which i regret i'm going to buy another one through the proper channels. If i do get one from apple and get the contract through o2 in iTunes then i something went wrong i'd be covered right and it would get replaced by apple.

One thing i'm wondering and hope someone will be able to answer. I have had a contract with t-mobile since around November, it is a 12 month contract would i be able to get my number from it and transfer it to a new o2 one it is such a good number and have t-mobile allocate me another one?

If so i'd order one straight away, absolutely loved that phone.

I've told you how to go about doing this!!

Get some pac code for any old number from Orange pay as you go, voda, o2 whoever.. transfer it into t-mob, your existing number then sits on your account for 6 months, tell em you want it back, they will give you a pac for it et voila!

(might be worth checking with tmob first though.. I know how batty some companies about numbers and pac codes)

Posted by haynesycop
Ok nice one thanks i forgot you told me that. Got some old sim cards lying around here could i use one of them or will it need to be registered first? Will gave them a ring then.

i have heard from a source that an upcoming Iphone is on its way, but he wouldn't tell what news it will bring (3G for sure)

Posted by fatreg
SDK allows developers the SW to write new apps etc etc...

tells them a lot moire about how the phone works too...

defo no new iPhone!

Posted by haynesycop
Thanks for clearing that up was pretty sure it wasn't a new one, not bothered about 3g anyway, right i'll get onto t-mobile then.

Are you sure, because I would love to have an Iphone, but the features are lagging a bit behind (the 2 MP camera, 3G and so on)

Iphone 2, expected in the 3rd quarter of this year, i would expect it to be released somewhat shortly prior to the new Nokia TS devices in an effort to take the wind out of Nokia's sails (and sales even) .
Not set in concrete though

Posted by haynesycop
T-Mobile wouldn't transfer another number so i had to buy out my contract. Got my pac code which is valid for 30 days, i best get a move on and get me an iPhone. Was quite glad to cancel it, just need to buy out my orange one now and i'll be sorted.

Posted by haynesycop
With regards to iPhone 2 i was wondering what o2 would do with existing customers for example if you have an iPhone with the 18 month contract and after 6 months the new one is out and you bought it would o2 transfer your contract to the newer model?

Posted by Dicky Snapples
rumor has it, that they will upgrade every o2 iphone user to iphone 2 Free of charge

Are you having a giraffe?

Posted by Dicky Snapples
nopers, apparently it will be a 3g 32gb iphone and existing customers will be offered a free upgrade

Posted by haynesycop

32GB would be awesome as 8GB is just not enough at all, that would be awesome if it was true, i just need to get me some cash to get an iPhone got the PAC code all sorted, i presume all new iPhone shipping through apple online will be with the new firmware?

Did you end up getting one Dicky? Can't wait to get my hands on one absolutely been lost without it, can highly recommend them feel happy just thinking about it.

Posted by fatreg
Dicky has one yes...

Posted by Dicky Snapples
well,kind of...

Posted by haynesycop
Just got a new iPhone and when i type my pac code in iTunes i get an error message!

O2 has found a problem with your existing O2 account

I ticked the new account option too now on the phone to them, not the best of starts i must say.

Posted by haynesycop
Is it usually not to have any signal at first? I rang up o2 and was told to leave transferring my number through iTunes as it may be down and to fill out a form on there site and just use the temporary number for now which is fine. However after it had activated i got a message saying no signal just wondered if it is supposed to be like this?

Posted by haynesycop
Get in got signal now!

Posted by floatlite
Believe me the new iPhone 3G will not have 32GB, it'll have 16GB, and it will have 3G UTMS but not HSDPA , US release will be late 3rd Quarter and for the first time the European launch will be at the same time.

D

Posted by haynesycop
Thanks for clearing that up 16gb is still good though i got my iPhone today and it is full already.

Anyone tried that application for iphone yet that supposedly alllows video capture at 2MP?

Posted by haynesycop
No what is it called may give it a try now.

Posted by bavlondon2
Heres the original story.

http://www.gsmarena.com/apple[....]_now_record_video-news-383.php

And below the link to the developers site. I must say the video looks nice even on that big screen. Shame its only up to 10s though.

http://monsterandfriends.com/?q=node/50

Check it out, looks like its up to 45 fps.

but look, it looks like they have cracked unlimited video recording!!!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=juyU1e9JVRo

Hopefully if Apple brand an SDK or better yet do it via an update that will be very cool.

Posted by bavlondon2

Couldn't you get it fixed under warranty?
or does the USA Warranty not apply to Europe?

I coulda sworn when I had a iPod mini from america before it came here it had a international warranty

I had a muck about with iPhones and iTouches a few weeks back pretty snazzy devices would take a while to get used to

I would love a iTouch,
unfortuantley though a roof over my head is more important darm I need a £500 deposit lol
