as title.. the world seems to be falling to bits.. and I don't blame global warming so don't ever mention that here..

a) foot and mouth in the UK
b) blue tongue in the UK source: defra
c) floods in africa
d) Mugabe regime in Zimbabwe attracting world wide press
e) Russia flexing its military muscles
f) Iraq, Iran,
g) Reappearance of Osama Bin Laden

the world seems to be gearing up to an almighty war.. from what I can see..

I, for one see the Mugabe regime being toppled by an Army (not ours thankfully, as an ex-empire state, its taboo for us to show armour there), that in turn is bound to spill over the the rest of SA and I just see it spiralling out of control...

sorry for being the depressive.

'what will be, will be"

A few nukes should sort things out

Know what you mean about the world seeming to be gearing up for a war, it does sadly seem that way, though if there is a war I can see it being an unconventional war of some description, I don't think it'll be the conventional type with two sides facing off against one another.

I have a nasty feeling it'll be a religious war though the way things are going

. . . Global WARNING will E A T this world !

Posted by Alexandra
You are kidding me. The global warming alarmists use a "dipstick" analysis where they just choose places of the world which have a hotter temperature than the last. The only true indication of global temperature, the satellite weather data, shows a cooling trend since 1998.

Not to mention that the whole thing is blown out of proportion by the "anti-everything" green movement........

@alex - The ICE are STARTING to MELT dear . . . believe ME, the SUN always SHINES on TV !

Hi all,

If you believe in global warming or not the worlds weather is seriously going wrong drought where they really need water and large parts of Europe constantly getting horrendous flooding and the same goes for other parts of the world to.

Fact nearly 40 years ago when we used to go holiday when you came back you were lucky to keep your tan a couple of weeks how ever sunny it was now you spend a day in the garden and burn to a crisp. So something has definitely changed there what ever you want to call it.

As for the tension and likelihood of War well that's definitely on the increase to Iran are continuing with their Nuclear programme despite all diplomatic efforts to stop them and they are not the only ones either. The USA, Britain and France all keep making vague statements saying military action can not be ruled out.

All i can say is I'm glad i am approaching the the later half of my life and not the early years and also that i am only responsible for myself and my Dog. 27 years ago odd people used to tell me i was a pessimist and that things where all gong to get better a new age of understanding and mankind coming together for each others good. I was also told don't worry about pollution of the sea's etc the scientists where going to fix it all. Yeah right well so far neither of those things have happened and things continue to deteriorate not get better. The only thing that mankind seems to respect or be interested in is money and greed they just don't care about anything else and just believe don't worry some one else will fix it later, so far i haven't seen a single thing fixed.

Now sorry if some of you find that depressing but hat's just the way it is, how we dare call ourselves Humanity when we allow so many to die of hunger and easily curable diseases whilst stock piling and destroying both food and medicine is a mockery, all mankind cares about is nothing more than what's in it for me. What a wonderful world we live in.

Marc

The modern world is in a terrible state. I watched a program a while back where some English guy spent three weeks on a tiny tropical island. The inhabitants worked together en-masse and shared all of the food that they farmed or caught.

Unfortunately, British missionaries turned up there 90 years ago and converted them all to Christians, meaning that the current chief of the tribe will not allow a medical clinic to be run on the island because 'prayer is the best medicine', resulting in many of his people suffering and even dying unnecessarily.

And recently, China has started buying shark fins from them resulting in some islanders objecting to sharing their produce because they believe they should be allowed to sell it to other islanders for a profit.

Makes me wonder, it really does...

Then what's the point in fretting and being depressive? Let's just enjoy life while we can, instead of wrinkling our foreheads with stress and worry...Life is too short to keep worrying..so enjoy it..please

Lust for money and power is ruining the "modern" world we live in today. With the oil reserves running out, and water shortage coming up also, we will see some trouble in the near future.

until ppl learn to quit blindly following foolish old men and religious zealots they call leaders. and the media propaganda things will never change. time ppl learn to think for themselves and work together to make the world better instead of slaughtering each other over outdated patriotism, religion and corporate greed. enough of the blindly following and senseless slaughter. humanity needs to grow up.

If you watch the news, and take to heart all of the negative stuff it will send you spiralling into the doldrums.
To me personally, it's just a question of focus, there is ALWAYS someone somewhere who are a hell of a lot worse off than you or i.
It's so easy to take for granted all the wonderful things in life, enjoy it if you have the health and will to do so, because your a long time dead!!

in the 80's they were going on about global cooling. and whatever happened to the ice age, the earths temperature has changed over the millions of years and there is no hard evidence that co2 is causing global warming, yes co2 is a greenhouse gas, but we seem to forget there are other greenhouse gases and there is no hard evidence that co2 is the gas causing global warming. while i think we need to cut down on the use of fossil fuels because they are not going to last forever.

disiese is something that happens, measures can be taken to control it but it happens.

as for war, there is no need for it. you go to foreign country's and they're spending billions building bombs which the money could be used to improve the country.

as for the almighty war, i don't believe it will happen in the near future

What we also must remember is that in this day and age, 24hr news gathering is now normal, so we have so much more information available to us thanks to Satellite and Cable news gathering and live blanket coverage of events.

This means that we are much more aware of wrong-doings and disasters than we were previously and news reaches us in minutes rather than hours or days, even from far flung corners of the world. As has been said, try not to focus too much on the bad tidings but still be thankful for the good things in your life.
