i hope this isn't true!!

Posted by zaxan
I'm sure we all hope Colin Mcrae is still alive and wasn't in that helicopter when it crashed - BUT, we must all remember that somebody was in that helicopter when it crashed, weather it was Colin Mcrae in it at that time or someone else, there is almost no chance that nobody died during the crash

Jeesus, he's a hero and a family man, I really hope he isn't dead

Used to watch him often and play his rally games.

German website sport1.de reports he died. But given the fact that was posted about the same time as the headlines you provided, it may have been some kind of translation fault.

According to wikipedia it is...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Colin_McRae

Posted by arien617
The wikipedia article is constantly changing.

With nearly every refresh!!

This is so sad. What's going on? First it was Benoit now Mcrae.

Let him and his son RIP.

Posted by Ridahz
Hmmm this is just like when Chris Benoit died wikiipedia was hectic and got changed every two minutes now the sames happening for Colin Mcrae.

I'm keeping my eyes peeled!

Apparently this happened at 4 o'clock this afternoon, surely if he wasn't involved, news would have gotten to him and he would have come forward to say he is alive!?

I hope he is ok though!

Posted by spikeyjac
timesonline say its him

Posted by Nanu
The Police have said there will be no official Identification tonight, so it can only be speculation at the moment!

Posted by arien617
Police have confirmed there are fatalities, nothing on whether it was McRae or not though.

Posted by Nanu
As Jac says though the times have him and his son down as dead and that the police have escorted his wife home! also that there were 4 people in the helicopter!

Times Online

Yet BBC news 24 says 2 people with no confirmation of identity!

It says on yahoo news that there will be no formal identifying tonight. We'll most likely hear tomorrow. I hope its not him.

Posted by Nanu
BBC has just changed its story to "An helicopter owned by Colin McRae has crashed with 4 people on board, there will be no formal Identifications till tomorrow!"

Posted by Nanu
BBC now say the Police believe Colin McRae was on board, but still no official confirmation!

R.I.P Colin. My thoughts are with his family and friends.

it looks like his site has been taken down now

That's very sad news.

Colin McRae was a firm favourite here in New Zealand having won the Rally of NZ three times in a row. I will always think of him as a Subaru driver even though he drove for other teams too. I also have the original Colin McRae Rally game for my Xbox.

R.I.P. Colin (and son). Say hi to Richard Burns and Possum Bourne for us!

I know its looking highly likely he and his son were in the helicopter, police still haven't officially identified the bodies yet.

If ever there was a glimmer of hope, may it be now.

The latest release from the BBC is
"Mr McRae, 39, his son Johnny, the youngster's friend Ben Porcelli and family friend Graeme Duncan, 37, were all thought to be on board. Formal identification is expected in the next few days. "

Let us all just hope and pray that some of these people are still alive, as the formal identification is not expected for another couple of days, and as procterdc said, if there was a glimmer of hope let it be now

Also, may those killed in this tragic accident all rest in peace

Think it's safe to say it was them, if it wasn't....then where is he, his wife and friends would phone his mobile etc.

Really doubt it's a big coincidence that the helli he flies has crashed...and him and his son is missing...but it's not them.

The BBC are just covering their backs so to speak.

As sad as it is, it's deff him

RIP

@ÈL ® ö B ì Ñ, I do agree it is now safe to say it was them in the crash, my thoughts now lie with the families of those killed in this horrific accident

Posted by gaming_guy
His site is back up with details of the 4 people involved now.

RIP

A close friend said it's ironic that he died this way, as he risked his life everytime he raced.

May all four rest in peace.
