Gutted! I just droppped my n73 in my toilet. I fished it out straight away, took off the back, took ut the battery and sim card, and left it in a good place to dry. Do ou hink it will still work??

If you took it out from the toilet very quickly.... there's some possibility it survives, I wish you luck!

Leave that battery out for a good day or two in that warm place, take the phone further apart if you feel competent/confident enough to. You could also spray it with WD-40 to drive the moisture out (Just don't get any on the microphone as it can kill them!) and you shoud hopefully be lucky, especially as you've done all the right things like take the batt out

How did you manage to get it down the toilet lol
hope it was clean was it
btw hope you fished it out anyways and it will still work for you

Don't have any wd 40 and im not confident enough to take it apart further. And ye it was clean water

Good Good....
It should be ok wrap it in a towel or old cloth and place it on a radiator on top of your fireplace, my old D600 fell in the bath and that was in there ages I burn't my arm nearley getting it out, it worked afterwards too

Ok thanks. Im going town tomorrow anyway so i will pick some up then. Then just spray it on the phone, avoiding the mic?
Also, i put it in a small cupboard with a boiler in, and its pretty warm in there, and i wrapped each thing up in toilet paper. I hope its fine otherwise ill hae to use my 7650 lol.

@se - Was there any OTHER form of chemical and even SOLID-materials inside the bowl when your N73 went for a swim
Posted by se_p800
Dno it was just the liquid in the toilet after its been flushed. So I dont know if there are any chemicals or not :S ??

@se - Oh, ok . . . let's just wait for the OUTCOME mate !
Posted by se_p800
yes LETS! Hmm im meant to be ringing a friend tomorrow in regards to goin to town. Don't know what im going to do bout that!
Posted by se_p800
well it works

does it "smell" different

An N73 doesn't deserve that. Maybe a RAZR or W880, but not the N73.
Posted by Sammy_boy
Is it completely dry? It might be worth leaving it a bit longer to dry. If you don't have a spare phone, it might be worth buying a cheap one whilst in town and using it for a couple of days while your N73 dries out thoroughly.

Luckily, most of the N73 is plastic so no risk for rust, so if you see any brown spots on the phone then you know what it is

A real coincidence I know but after just removing the clothes from the washing machine I found my memorystick in one of my trouser pockets lol, not exactly the same but still water damaged electronics
The thing is now to let it dry, although I can find no way to get it apart to help it dry faster since there are no screws that I can see anywhere on it, so I don't think I will be using it for the next week just to be really sure it is dry properly on the inside.

Hi everyone... I dropped my P990 in water yesterday by mistake... Before I could take the battery out it was already around 10-15 secs... The phone seemed switched off but the flash lite was on... I even opened it and left it to dry... Today afternoon I tried to switch it on, it only showed the SE logo and that's it... Nothing more...

Memory cards shouldn't be quite so susceptible to moisture damage, my wife dropped a Micro SD card of mine into a glass or water, no idea how long it was in there - could have been a couple of minutes or overnight - but after leaving it to dry for a couple of days everything's fine with it. No data loss or problems, she lives another day!

Oh, sorry, by memorystick I meant my flash drive, hopefully still survives the same though

On holiday in France last year, I was with a bunch of family friends, and on of them had lost their mario kart DS game. We found it the next day at the bottom of the swimming pool lmao. Left it to dry and it worked fine

I've found the best place to dry electronic stuff is on the back of a CRT TV set, there's a warm up-current of very dry air for long periods of time, especially when the kids or Mrs is watching the Eastenders/Corrie Omnibus. I fell in the park pond with my old Phillips C12 Mobi, 3 days with it blu-tacked to the top of the telly and it was dry as a bone, and worked great. Well great as a C12 will work...

is it ok now?

Its the place where a N73 belongs

4 years ago, I dropped my S710 into snow trying to dig my car out of snow, and lost it, couldnt find it, well so happens to be the snowplow plowed it to the side of the house, well after the winter ( 2 months ) the snow melted I found my S710 took it in the house and I was thinking it was a gone, took it apart dried a few parts cleaned a few parts ( from mud and little rust ) put everything back together and it fired up like new, I still have this phone to this day as my back up to my k800i
Just a little survival story for you guys, so keep faith!

As much as you took the neccessary saftey precautions I suggest that you sell it and get a new one now.
