Okay guys... I recently bought an HPM-82 off eBay. The item description said it was genuine Sony Ericsson & the seller is a power seller & sells a LOT of products. But when I received it, I got it in a plastic packet with the extra earplugs and adapter. It looks original but doesn't sound quite right (according to me). The bass seems to be better on the headphones I got with my K750i. I'm worried it may be fake. Here's the item URL: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=120153053907

Check out the photographs of it.

Please help me guys...

its hard to tell, but by the looks seems like the ones i got... i'm not satisfied with the earphones' sound (i was actually after the control buttons) but i have no basis whether the other walkman branded ones are better since i dont have any here...

its without warrenty... thats it..! but i can say the normal headphones have better bass than the walkman headphones ... and if u you use walkman headphones with walkman phones u get better bass and sound quality while if u you walkman headphones with normal phone its not too loud compared to walkman phones

hope you get me.. i had bought bluetooth walkman headphones and i sold them within a month because of this reason before that also i had normal walkman headphones too and i have also used a walkman phone so..i guess this is the answer of urs..!!

Well... Yeah I do get you... But that I can fix later with the acoustics. But do the headphones seem real? Cause if they aren't real, I'll ask for a refund. I paid GBP 9.99 + GMP 2.99 (Shipping to India).

By real, I mean if they're Genuine Sony Ericsson. If they're not... I'll file a complaint at eBay & ask for a refund. If they're genuine, then I'll try to mess with my phone's Acoustic files or just sell them later.

Hey, you got it genuine.
I got some genuine and man they sound really bad, just like yours. So I believe you have the same.

Thank you for the reply.

Well... I guess.... I hope they are. But could you help me, by suggesting fixes to the Acoustic files on K750i (CID49; BROWN) so that it sounds better. As in which patches would you recommend? I'm leaning towards sound quality, better bass response as well as volume.

Thanks again...

Yes it is. It is just that the actual sound quality of walkman phones is better than that of K, P or Z phones (except the K750).

By the way, what mobile do you have? I have the K800, and put Walkman acoustics on it.

Well I can't answer that question because I own a K750i and I've never used box packed Walkman headphones that come with the cellphones. But seriously I'm not satisfied at all with the HPM-82. It distorts slightly when using Mega-Bass.

I bought the same ones with identical packaging...they sound really bad, and iŽll return my pair also...

Also got a pair from ebay and even though they sound pretty fine they have a problem sticking in my phone. They pop loose very easily... Came in the original (plastic) packaging though. Not in a simple plastic bag.

I also (seem to have) bought some fake HBH-DS970 and they look almost identical to the original (atleast, I can't spot a difference) so I guess the fakes are pretty good when just looking at the outsides.

A case of 'if it looks too good to be true, it probably is...'.

Firstly, thanks for the reply buddy.
Secondly, my pair has the same damn problem! They pop loose very easily. Even the slightest touch makes them pop out and the music plays out of my speaker phones instead.

Heh, well... I usually have the phone on silent so that doesn't happen. But loosing the sound is irritating enough. Also, sometimes the buttons seem to stop working when such a thing happens...

Ah well, I know ordered the DS980 from a normal shop so hopefully all my problems will be solved with that one

Best of luck.

does it have serial number because even hpm-70 has serial number.anyway
fake ones sounds muffled and the bass is deeper.originals sounds more clear and not muffled

Posted by siddharth.c
Yes buddy... It does indeed have a serial number. Here are the details:

SW: CXC 162 35/2 R1A
HW: RLF 501 65
SN: 0638 100001

It is fake. Look a closer look on some HPM-70 fake and original:

honestly those differences are trivial. If they don't come down to expected manufacturing tollerances, and are indeed fake, they are such good quality fakes that I can't see how they couldn't also replicate the performance just as easily.

Fakes are highly obvious, not these minor differences.
